Sell online,and keep the margin.

A product that sells well online can still lose money once commission, shipping, returns and ads are taken out. PromotEdge runs Amazon, Flipkart, quick-commerce and own-store marketing for sellers whose shop is in New Market or whose godown is in Howrah.

Every product should earn a profit you can see.

Burrabazar supplies shopkeepers across West Bengal and the states next door. Gems and jewellery were 58.8% of Kolkata district's 2024-25 exports. Wholesale firms meet a new question online: can you sell one piece to one buyer in another city and keep your margin?

We work with D2C (direct-to-customer) brands and FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) makers and traders. We look at your business first, then at marketing, starting from your price list, returns and stock.

Our first meeting is a numbers meeting. Which five products sell now? What is left after commission, shipping and returns? The full picture is on our national ecommerce marketing page.

/ 02 What we do

Online selling workfor Kolkata sellers.

01

Hero SKU audit

We read the orders and margin of each product and pick the few to push first. SKUs are stock-keeping units: your products.

02

Amazon and Flipkart accounts

Your seller accounts stay in your company's name. See our Amazon and Flipkart pages.

03

Quick-commerce apps

Catalogue content and stock checks, so no ad money goes where you are out of stock.

04

Your own store

Speed and checkout first, then repeat orders by email and WhatsApp, with pages and ads in Bengali or Hindi written by our language partners.

05

Photos and listing content

Shot in your New Market shop or Howrah factory by our in-house team, with partner agencies where a job needs them.

06

A margin report

Every month: what each product earns after every cost, by platform, with losers flagged.

/ 03 Selling online from Kolkata

Three ground rules a Kolkata seller learns early.

A plan copied from a Delhi seller misses things that matter in Bengal.

Wholesale habits meet single-piece buyers. A Burrabazar trader thinks in cartons, while a marketplace shopper wants one piece with a clear photo and a return window. We cost the carton, the single piece and a pack of three apart, then test which sells at a profit.

Stock, roads and rain. In Kolkata, heavy goods vehicles carrying non-essential items are barred for set hours, except in the port area; the High Court left the rule in place in February 2024. A late stock transfer from a Howrah godown is a real risk, so we ask for your stock plan before we plan the ads.

A calendar built around Puja. Storyboard18 reported that ad spend around Durga Puja rose 10-15% in 2025. Puja ads get crowded, so we fix listings and stock first, then spend on products that are ready.

/ 07 How we work

From first meetingto a margin report.

  1. 01

    Meet and count

At Sector V or your Kolkata shop, we go through orders, returns, stock and prices.

  2. 02

    Choose hero SKUs

Start with the few products that sell or should, and cost cartons, pieces and packs apart.

  3. 03

    Fix before Puja

Listings, photos and store pages first, then small ad budgets on products that are in stock.

  4. 04

    Report and change

Each month: sales, returns and profit per product. Money moves from what lost to what worked.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A Burrabazar trader starts with one hero SKU. An FMCG maker adds quick commerce, where stock sits in local dark stores. A D2C brand with its own store adds repeat orders by email and WhatsApp.

  1. Count margin per product first. Sales alone hide commission, shipping, returns and ads. A margin table by product.
  2. Cost the carton, the piece and a pack apart. Each unit earns differently. Three costed options.
  3. Fix listings and stock before Puja. Ads on an out-of-stock product waste money. A ready-to-sell list.
  4. Report profit monthly. Rankings and reviews take months, so we judge on profit. Losers flagged.

Warehouses, roads and rain

Warehousing in Kolkata district sits mostly in Howrah and Dankuni. The monsoon normally arrives on 11 June and leaves on 12 October, and Alipore averages 387.8 mm of rain in July. Plan stock transfers around the truck rule, and pack for wet weather.

Language and shopping seasons

The 2011 Census gave Bengali as the mother tongue of 61.45% of people in Kolkata district, with Hindi at 22.84%. A PTI report in 2022 said the weeks before Poila Boishakh bring shopkeepers about a third of their yearly sales.

AI in ecommerce marketing: today and next

Today: Amazon's Seller Assistant

Amazon India launched a free Seller Assistant ahead of Prime Day 2026, in English and Hinglish. A seller can upload a photo, paste a URL or type a description, and it drafts the title and category. Amazon says it pre-fills up to 70% of the work.

Next

Our view: listing drafts will get quicker. Prices, stock and honest photos still come from you.

/ 08 Cost

What ecommerce marketingcosts in Kolkata.

We don't publish a price list. We quote against a written scope within 2 working days. Platform commissions, fees and ad spend are separate.

What affects the cost

  • Platforms: Amazon, Flipkart, quick commerce, your own store
  • SKUs needing new photos or listing content
  • Shoot days at your shop or godown
  • Languages and ad budgets

How we quote

  1. You tell us what you sell and what is left of the price after every cost
  2. You get a written scope by platform, with our fee and platform charges on separate lines

What you get in the quote

  • The platforms and SKUs we cover, with listing and photo work
  • Ad account management and a monthly profit report

Comparing quotes? Ask for every platform charge line by line, and ask about GST.

Our beliefWe're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.

Straight answers.

  • Yes. Our Kolkata head office is at Suite 508, Ambuja Neotia Eco Centre, Sector V, Salt Lake. The people who plan your listings and ads work there, with our in-house team of 65+ people and partner agencies where a job needs them. A meeting at your New Market shop or Howrah godown is a short trip.

  • Often yes, for the right products. A Burrabazar trader sells cartons and a marketplace shopper buys one piece, so we cost the carton, the piece and a small pack apart, then test. We read the margin of each product before we plan any ad spend.

  • Yes. We recommend working through user access, so the accounts stay in your company's name. We don't claim official partner status with any platform, and ad money stays yours. You can see every rupee. The steps are on our Amazon and Flipkart pages.

  • By July for the stock plan, and by August for listings and photos. In 2026, Mahalaya was on 10 October and Saptami on 18 October, so we test small in September and back what sells. Late fixes cost more, because every brand is bidding.

  • It depends on platforms, SKUs, photo work, languages and ad budget. We don't publish a price list. After a first conversation we quote against a written scope, with platform charges and ad spend on separate lines. The first step is a free 30-minute call and a one-page plan.

  • Each month you get a report that leads with what each product earns after commission, shipping, returns and ads. Listing fixes can show in weeks, while ranks and reviews take months. Nobody can honestly promise marketplace sales. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • Ongoing work has a 3-month minimum. After that you can stop with 30 days' notice. You keep your accounts, logins and files, because your seller accounts stay in your company's name. We confirm the exact terms in the quote, before you approve it.
