Why should anyonechoose you?

A company that wins only on price has given buyers no other reason to choose it. PromotEdge is a brand strategy agency, and a marketing company, that helps you stop competing on price.

Together we decide who you are for, what you promise and why buyers should believe it, so more of them enquire by name.

Most companies we meet already have a brand. It grew by accident: the founder's choice of name, an old tagline, a brochure listing every product. Buyers who know the family still buy. Buyers outside that circle need a reason.

We write that reason down with you, using logic and your numbers, before money goes into media or a new identity. It is the first piece of our strategy work. We work best with companies between ₹25 crore and ₹500 crore in revenue, in fields like building materials and manufacturing.

/ 02 What you get

What a brand strategyproject delivers.

01

Brand audit

How your brand shows up today, on the website, brochures, ads, dealer boards, search and reviews, read as a new buyer would.

02

Interviews and calls

Promoters, sales heads, customers, dealers and buyers who chose a rival. Who signs, who recommends and who can block an order are often four people.

03

Category map

Rivals' claims, sites and dealer material side by side, plus the words buyers type into Google. This shows who you are really compared with.

04

Positioning routes

Two or three routes with their trade-offs, taken through a leadership workshop. You choose. We argue for the one the evidence supports.

05

Proof points

Capacity, approvals, service reach, delivery record and named references, ranked by how much buyers care.

06

Brand architecture

One main brand, endorsed brands or separate names, decided for every product line you have or plan.

07

Voice and message order

How the brand sounds, and what it says first, second and third to a buyer, a dealer and a new recruit.

08

The strategy document

A short document with a sample ad, a homepage headline and a dealer brochure page. If your sales head cannot repeat it after one read, we rewrite it.

/ 03 What usually gets in the way

Where brands get stuck, and the way through.

“Our sales team says we only win on price.”

Ask your three best salespeople why the last five deals were lost. If price comes up each time, buyers had no other reason. Positioning gives sales a second thing to sell: service reach, speed, approvals.

“Every new agency asks for a brief, and we send old brochures.”

The strategy was never written down. We write it once in plain words, so every agency, new hire and distributor starts from the same page.

“Five product lines look like five different companies.”

Sub-brands grew with no plan. Brand architecture (how the company, its product lines and sub-brands fit together) decides what sits under the main name and what stands alone.

“The next generation is taking over, and the brand is still the founder.”

Relationships carried the business for years. We build a brand that works in rooms the founder never entered.

“We're entering a state where nobody has heard of us.”

A local reputation does not travel, but a clear position does. Pair it with a go-to-market plan for the new market.

“We want a new logo and website. Isn't that the brand?”

Those express the brand, so decide what it should say first. Our branding page shows how that second step runs.

“We're in another city. Can you still work with us?”

Yes. Our servicing team is based in cities across India and works hybrid and remotely. We stay in touch every day and meet you in your city at least once every three months. When a job needs it, our team sits at your office or plant.

/ 05 How we work

From interviewsto a page sales can use.

Six stages. One brand moves faster than a group with several businesses and sub-brands. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  1. 01

    Listen inside

Interviews with promoters, leadership and sales, plus the numbers: sales by product, region and channel, and why deals are won or lost.

  2. 02

    Listen outside

Calls with customers, dealers and lost prospects. We ask why they bought, why they nearly didn't, and who else they looked at.

  3. 03

    Map the category

Rivals' claims side by side, search demand for your category and the words buyers use for the problem.

  4. 04

    Choose

A leadership workshop on two or three routes, and what you will stop claiming. We can't do magic alone: the more your leaders take part, the faster you see results.

  5. 05

    Write it down

Positioning, proof, architecture, voice and message order in one document, with examples your team can copy.

  6. 06

    Test and brief

Messages checked with a few buyers or in small ad tests, then a briefing for your team, your agencies and ours.

More on this

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A dealer-led B2B (business-to-business) maker needs a reason its dealers can repeat. A D2C (direct to customers online) brand needs one that fits a phone-sized product page. A franchise needs a promise every outlet can keep. A marketplace or quick commerce seller needs a name and pack that read as a small picture. An exporter needs a position that travels across languages. A diagnostic chain needs one promise every branch can keep: see healthcare.

What we usually see

Indian buyers are price-aware, not price-only. They pay more when they can see what the extra money buys: a service engineer the next day, a dealer nearby, a warranty that is honoured.

  1. Listen inside, then outside. Leaders know the business. Buyers and dealers know why they chose you or left. Interview notes and a lost-deal list.
  2. Map the category. A claim only means something next to what rivals claim. Competitor claims side by side.
  3. Choose in a workshop. People act on a choice they helped make. Two or three routes, and one chosen.
  4. Write it on a few pages. A short document gets read. A hundred slides do not. Positioning, proof and message order.
  5. Test, then brief. A small test costs less than a wrong hoarding. Checked messages and a team briefing.

AI in brand strategy: today and next

Today

Gemini Deep Research and Claude Research run several searches, follow what they find and return a report with source links. Google described its tool in April 2025 as a personal research assistant. Anthropic launched Research in beta the same month. They can speed up reading rivals' claims and reviews. A person still has to open the links and talk to buyers.

Next

Our view: first drafts of a category map will get cheaper. Choosing the position, and the proof behind it, will still need someone who knows your buyers. Want us to show where AI could save time on yours? Ask us.

/ 07 Cost

What brand strategy costs.

We don't publish a price list. Strategy is priced by the work covered, and a written list of what we will do is agreed before any interview starts.

What affects the cost

  • How many brands, sub-brands and product lines are covered
  • How many markets the positioning has to work in
  • How many customer, dealer and lost-prospect interviews it needs
  • Whether brand architecture or naming is included
  • Whether messages are tested with buyers or in small ad tests

How we quote

  1. We talk about what is changing in your business and what the strategy must fix.
  2. We read your positioning, decks, dealer feedback and rival messages.
  3. Brands, markets and interviews are written down before fieldwork begins.
  4. You get a quote within 2 working days, each cost on its own line. Any ad-test spend is shown at actuals.

What you get in the quote

  • The brands, sub-brands and markets covered
  • The interviews we will do
  • The positioning document and message order
  • The team briefing

Not sure the brand is the problem? A marketing audit checks that first.

/ 08 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Brands and people are named only as public examples. They are not PromotEdge clients or endorsers unless stated.

Straight answers.

  • Brand strategy is the written plan for why buyers should choose you: who you are for, what you promise and the proof behind it. It changes rarely. Marketing strategy sets this year's channels, campaigns and budget, and changes often. Build the marketing plan from the brand strategy, not the other way round.

  • In six stages: listen inside, listen to customers and lost prospects, map the category, choose in a leadership workshop, write it down, then test it and brief your team. A position chosen before you hear from buyers is usually a guess.

  • By business numbers, not by how much people like the new line. Before we start, we agree what should move: enquiries that ask for you by name, brand searches on Google, the price buyers accept and repeat orders. You see them in a monthly report.

  • It is the one reason you want buyers to choose you, stated so precisely that it rules some things out. “Quality at the right price” is not a position, because every rival claims it. “A service engineer in every district we sell in” could be, if it is true.

  • Both depend on how many products, markets and people need to be heard. A focused project for one brand is quicker and costs far less than a group strategy with several sub-brands. It is priced by the work covered, and we confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • A senior strategist leads the project from the first interview to the final workshop, and the same person presents the recommendations. You talk to the person who wrote the strategy, so nothing is lost between the idea and the briefing.

  • Often more than for consumer brands. B2B buyers compare suppliers carefully and must justify the choice to colleagues. A clear position, backed by approvals, capacity and references, makes you easier to shortlist, and we also check what your best distributors say about you. See how we approach industrial marketing.

  • It has to. A position that works only as an English pun gets paraphrased badly by distributors and regional papers. Before sign-off, we check that the core idea survives in the languages of your main markets, and we ask people who speak them.
