What we believe
We believe in process. Good results should repeat, not happen by luck.

A pilgrim buys on the spot, but a buyer in another city needs a reason to trust you first. PromotEdge plans search, ads, websites, Hindi papers and radio for Varanasi's weavers, craft sellers, guest houses and campus-linked firms. Each month you see which spend brought enquiries.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
Varanasi sells to two crowds at once: guests who walk the ghats, and buyers far away who only see you online. PromotEdge plans search, ads, websites, social media, Hindi papers and radio for weavers, craft sellers, guest houses and campus-linked firms, and each month shows you which spend brought enquiries.
Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and most of the work runs online, in hybrid mode. We speak every day and meet you in Varanasi at least once every three months.
The district's website calls Varanasi one of the oldest living cities in the world, a centre of learning for over 3,000 years. The district counted 36,76,841 people at Census 2011, and 20,79,790 of them lived in rural areas. So your buyer may be a guest planning a trip from abroad, a shopkeeper near the ghats or a family in a village.
We begin with your last few months of orders: who bought, whether a visitor or a distant buyer, and what each enquiry cost. Then we test one idea small, grow only what pays back, and plan digital marketing, advertising and BTL (below the line: stalls, events and signs) as one team.
Far-off buyers search by craft name, and six local crafts carry a place-of-origin tag.
02A buyer in another city compares four weavers in one evening and must trust a stranger.
03The city's 2025 outdoor rules decide what an ad may do, so read them before booking.
We believe in process. Good results should repeat, not happen by luck.
Three facts shape what sells here and who sees it: the pilgrim flow, the old crafts and the Hindi press. The crafts are here; the other two are in the fold below.
1. Six GI-tagged crafts must sell beyond their lanes. The district lists six Varanasi crafts with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, a legal tag for a product tied to a place. Banaras Brocades and Sarees were tagged in 2009. The others are Gulabi Meenakari, Metal Repousse, Glass Beads, Soft Stone Jali Work, and Wooden Lacquerware and Toys. A weaver should show the tag beside close photos of the work, on a page of their own. The fashion and apparel page shows how direct-to-customer (D2C) brands sell online.
Visitors who come to the ghats from far away, and the Hindi papers, the campus and a state below the India internet average.
2. Visitors come to the ghats from far away. The district lists 88 ghats, the river-bank steps along the Ganga. It names Sarnath, about 10 km north-east, as the place of the Buddha's first sermon. The Airports Authority of India counted 43,43,347 passengers at Varanasi in 2025-26 (April to March), up 7.8%. Of these, 1,42,578 flew international routes, up 17.3%. A guest house near a ghat has to be easy to find on a phone before the visitor lands. Our travel and tourism page shows what we check first.
3. Hindi papers, a large campus and a state below the India internet average. The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), which checks newspaper sales, lists four member papers with Varanasi editions. Three are Hindi. Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was founded in 1916. Its own site lists 5 institutes, 16 faculties and 135 departments. TRAI, the telecom regulator, counted 62.82 internet subscribers per 100 people in Uttar Pradesh in March 2026, against 76.59 for India. That is a state figure, not Varanasi alone, so we pair search with Hindi papers and radio. Our education page shows how campus buyers decide.

Varanasi has four private FM stations and four daily papers. All advertising is banned within 100 metres of the Kashi Vishwanath and Kal Bhairav temples. Near them, use search and a correct map listing, not boards.
| What | In Varanasi | What it means for your plan |
|---|---|---|
| Private FM radio | Four private FM stations are on the government's list of 30 March 2026, at 91.9, 93.5, 95.0 and 98.3 MHz. | What can't be measured can't be achieved, so test one of the four for a month, on a phone number used only in that spot. |
| Akashvani | The government's June 2017 rate card lists Varanasi's primary channel, 1242 kHz, at Rs 500 or Rs 300 for a 10-second spot, by programme type. Vividh Bharati, 100.6 MHz, has three rates, from Rs 390 down to Rs 280, by time of day. | These are the station's 2017 rates, not ours, so ask for today's card. |
| Hindi and English dailies | ABC lists Dainik Jagran, Hindustan and Amar Ujala in Hindi, and Hindustan Times in English, with Varanasi editions. | Hindi suits local offers. English suits visitors from abroad and distant buyers. |
| Outdoor area grades | The city corporation's advertisement bye-laws (UP Gazette, 18 October 2025) sort the city into A, B and C areas plus prohibited zones. A includes Godowlia, Sigra, Assi to the BHU Lanka gate and Durgakund. B includes Chaukaghat and Sarnath. | The area grade sets the licence rate, so ask your site's grade before you compare quotes. |
| Temple zones | All advertising is banned within 100 m of the Kashi Vishwanath and Kal Bhairav temples. Ordinary hoardings are also barred from Godowlia to Dashashwamedh Ghat. Ads near a temple or mosque must not hurt religious feelings. | Plan no boards near the temples, and use search and a correct map listing there. |
| Licence rates | Per square foot per year, an ordinary hoarding pays Rs 160 in A areas, Rs 155 in B and Rs 150 in C. Lit boards pay 50% more, and an LED screen pays Rs 600. These are the corporation's rates, not ours. | Budget for printing and mounting in addition to the licence. |
| Penalties and agencies | An unlicensed board pays removal costs and at least six months of the licence rate. The fine is at least Rs 25,000 for a single-pole board and Rs 50,000 for a gantry. Agencies register each year at Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000 or Rs 25,000, by grade. | Ask any Varanasi outdoor vendor, us included, for the corporation's licence and registration papers before you pay. |
| Dev Deepawali and Ramlila | Wikipedia says Dev Deepawali falls every year on Kartik Purnima, the full-moon day of the Kartik month, in November or December, when the ghats are lit with clay lamps. The district's culture page names Ramlila among the city's folk drama. | Fix your Dev Deepawali offer a month early, and check the date for that year before you book media. |
| Service: Advertising | Four FM stations, Akashvani, four daily papers and an outdoor rulebook with graded areas. | Think creative. Act on numbers. We match each medium to your buyer, test one for a month and keep what brings enquiries. Outdoor starts with the site's grade and a written licence. |
| Service: SEO | Visitors searching for a stay near a ghat, a boat or a guide, and craft sellers whose buyers live far away. | SEO (search engine optimisation: showing up on Google without paying per click) starts with one page per stay, craft or boat ride. |
| Service: Website design and development | Selling pages for saree and craft makers, booking pages for guest houses near the ghats, and sites for BHU-linked institutions and new firms. | Pages that open fast on a phone, with enquiry, call and WhatsApp buttons we test every month. |
Sources as cited in each row, checked 4 October 2026. The outdoor rows come from the city corporation's 2025 bye-laws. Wikipedia is the source for the Dev Deepawali row. The service rows are our plan, not a promise of results.

Brands are named only as public examples. They are not PromotEdge clients or endorsers unless stated.
We do not list prices online, so we talk first, then write what we would do for Varanasi and price each line. Licences, media space, printing and travel are billed at the owner's figure.
| Way of working | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | Ongoing work, reviewed each month; minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop |

We have worked with clients since 2015. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and most of the work runs online, in hybrid mode.
Meeting you: after a first 30-minute video call with one of our strategists, we speak every day. We visit Varanasi at least once every three months, to see your loom, guest house, classroom or shop. For some clients, a team member works from their office or plant.
Online work and media, boards and stalls, and languages including Bhojpuri.
Online work and media: search, ads, websites and social pages run online, with the ad accounts in your company's name. We book the Hindi dailies, the four FM stations and Akashvani after you see each rate.
Boards, stalls and events: outdoor boards, stalls, signs, LED screens and events are delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy. Each Varanasi board also needs the corporation's licence for its area grade, and you see the paper before you pay. Printing is handled through the same partner.
Languages: through our language partners we create content in English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Urdu and more. Hindi, the language of three of the four Varanasi papers above, is on that list. For guests from abroad, the partners can also write French, Japanese and more. If your buyers need Bhojpuri, tell us early and we confirm whether a partner can take it on.
Boards: the licence rules in detail. Fairs and exhibitions pay for at least three months. Material left up more than 24 hours after expiry is billed at double the A-grade rate for each day. General guidance, not legal advice.

No agency can answer that honestly about itself, and we will not try. Ask each one, us included, who owns the ad accounts, who writes your Hindi and whose name is on the corporation's licence for any outdoor board. Ask us for the free plan: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists and a one-page plan.
You need a licence from the city corporation for your site's area grade. A yearly licence runs to 31 March at most, and an event licence up to three months. A technical committee headed by the Municipal Commissioner decides the site, size and height. General guidance, not legal advice.
The district lists Banaras Brocades and Sarees among six GI-tagged Varanasi crafts. Start with one product line on a page that opens fast on a phone. Show the tag and close photos of the weave. Then add search and social ads, and read the enquiries for a month. Our ecommerce marketing page explains the next step.
Start with your Google listing: name, address, phone, photos and hours. Then build a page for each room or boat tour that says how far it is from the nearest ghat. Add a WhatsApp button for booking questions. The airport counted 1,42,578 international passengers in 2025-26, so if you host guests from abroad, add pages in their language too.
