Where is the moneyactually going?

When the reports look good but the order book doesn't, nobody can say which channel brings the good leads. PromotEdge runs marketing audits, as an outside marketing company would, so you see which spend brings enquiries and sales.

We then say what to stop, fix or scale.

Start with a free growth plan call, for projects we think we can help. We take on a limited number and tell you honestly if yours is a fit. If the problems need a deeper look, the full audit follows.

Most companies have no single view of their marketing. The digital agency reports clicks, the media agency reports reach, and sales says the leads are poor. We put it on one page in the numbers leadership cares about, from brand to search, mainline and on-ground spend.

/ 02 What we check

Eight thingswe check.

/ 03 What usually gets in the way

When an audit helps, and what it finds.

“The marketing reports look good. The order book doesn't.”

The gap is usually in tracking, lead quality or follow-up. That is where we look first.

“Our new marketing head has inherited ten vendors and no data.”

An audit gives a clear picture of what was inherited, before next year's budget has to be defended.

“We're about to change agencies.”

Know what the last agency delivered, and what to hold the next one to, before you write the brief.

“The promoters want to know what the marketing budget is buying.”

We put spend and results side by side, channel by channel, in numbers a board or a family meeting can read.

“Nobody can tell us which channel brings the good leads.”

We trace every enquiry to its source, whether form, call or WhatsApp, and check that the data reaches your CRM (software that keeps all your leads in one place).

“We spend a lot on print, outdoor and dealer schemes, and measure none of it.”

Offline is often the biggest and least measured spend. We check what each piece was meant to do, what shows it did, and how to measure it next time.

“We're planning a new plant, a new state or a fundraise.”

Check the marketing engine before you load it with a bigger target.

“Can you still audit our marketing from a distance?”

Yes. Most of an audit works with read-only access and video interviews, plus our own test of how you handle enquiries. Our servicing team is based in cities across India and meets you at least once every three months. A store or dealer visit is planned into the written list of work.

/ 05 How it works

How the auditruns.

Six steps. We can't do magic alone: the faster we get access to your data, the faster you see results. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  1. 01

    Agree the questions

What leadership wants answered, which channels and markets are covered, and the data and access we need.

  2. 02

    Collect data and access

Read-only access to ad accounts, analytics and CRM, plus media plans, invoices and agency reports for the last year.

  3. 03

    Interview the team

Leadership, marketing and sales and, where useful, a few dealers, distributors or customers.

  4. 04

    Test the funnel

We submit enquiries through your forms, call your numbers and message your WhatsApp, and note how long the reply takes.

  5. 05

    Benchmark

Rivals' visible activity, search demand for your category, and your share of searches against the brands you compete with.

  6. 06

    Present the growth plan

We'd rather show you results than a nice presentation. A workshop with findings and evidence, then what to stop, fix and scale, with owners and rough costs.

We're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.
What we believe at PromotEdge
Go deeper

More on this

How we deliver it, and why

Stop, fix, scale

Stop is spend with no evidence of return, like ads on searches that never convert. Fix is what is broken and cheap to repair, most often tracking, landing pages and lead follow-up. Scale is what works and has room to grow. The fix list is usually where the quickest gains are, and a good audit often recommends spending less.

How your business model changes the plan

A developer wants cost per site visit. A clinic chain wants to know which campaigns fill bookings. A manufacturer wants to know whether trade-show leads are serious. A D2C or quick commerce seller reads ad spend against sales by pin code.

  1. Agree the questions. An audit without questions turns into a report nobody reads. A one-page scope.
  2. Read the data. Numbers settle arguments in a room full of vendors. Spend and results by channel, on one sheet.
  3. Test the funnel ourselves. Reports show what was counted. A real enquiry shows what the buyer felt. Reply times, and what each reply said.
  4. Benchmark. Your numbers mean more next to rivals'. Rivals' activity and search share.
  5. Present stop, fix, scale. Three short lists are easier to act on than forty findings. A workshop, with owners and rough costs.

Go deeper: the Indian market and who sets the rules

Where the money is moving

Storyboard18's report on the FICCI-EY study put e-commerce and point-of-sale advertising at ₹22,000 crore, roughly 85% of television ad revenue. Spend on shelves and marketplace screens is now big enough to need its own line in an audit.

Who sets the rules

ASCI, founded in 1985, is advertising's self-regulator. It keeps The ASCI Code, handles consumer complaints and publishes the outcomes. A claim in an old ad can come back as a complaint, so we read your live ads with the Code in mind.

AI in marketing audits: today and next

Today

Google Analytics has Pathing and Attribution reports that show how different models give credit to touchpoints along a user's path. AI research tools such as Claude Research, which launched in beta in April 2025, can read rivals' pages and reviews and give citations. Someone must still check the citations.

Our view: reading spend sheets and tagging leads will get faster. Deciding what to stop will still need a person who has seen your category. Want us to run a quick look at yours? Ask us.

/ 07 Cost

What an audit costs.

The growth plan call is free, for projects we think we can help. The full audit is a paid project, priced by the work covered. We don't publish a price list.

What affects the cost

  • How many channels, brands and markets are in play
  • How much data there is to review, and how organised it is
  • Whether offline spend (TV, print, outdoor, events, trade schemes) is covered
  • Whether customer, dealer or distributor interviews are included
  • Whether you want the findings presented to the board or promoters

How we quote

  1. We start with the free call: your goals, your channels and the numbers you already track.
  2. We list the accounts, invoices, media plans and lead sheets we would need to see.
  3. We write down which channels, brands and markets the audit covers, and who we will interview.
  4. You get a quote within 2 working days, with each part of the audit on its own line.

What you get in the quote

  • The channels, brands and markets covered
  • The data and read-only access we need, and by when
  • The interviews, and the funnel test of your forms, calls and WhatsApp
  • The written report and the workshop that presents the growth plan

To compare audit quotes fairly, check that each one includes the funnel test and a workshop, not only a report.

Straight answers.

  • The growth plan is built from a call and what we can see from outside: your website, search presence, ads and social channels. It is free, for projects we think we can help. The full audit needs access to your accounts, invoices and team, and is a paid project.

  • Both depend on the channels, brands and markets covered, and on how quickly we get access to data. A focused review of a few channels is quicker and costs less than a full audit across several brands and all spend. We quote after a first conversation, against a written list of work, and confirm the timeline.

  • Read-only access to ad accounts, analytics and your CRM or lead sheet wherever the platform allows it, plus media plans and invoices. We are happy to sign an NDA, and you can remove our access the day the audit ends.

  • No. The plan is written so that your team, your current agencies or any capable agency can carry it out. Some clients ask us to run part of it afterwards, but the audit stands on its own, and you are free to say no.

  • A channel audit goes deep on one discipline. A marketing audit looks across all of them, including offline spend such as TV, print, outdoor, events and dealer schemes, plus sales follow-up, and decides where the money should go. If a channel needs a closer look, such as an SEO (search engine optimisation) audit, we say so.

  • Cost per lead is what you pay, on average, for one enquiry: spend on a channel divided by the enquiries it brought. We lead with it because clicks and reach don't pay salaries. We also check how many of those leads were serious.

  • Judge each agency on the numbers it agrees to be held to, not on its pitch deck. Ask for named case studies and a monthly report that leads with enquiries and cost per lead. Ask for fees shown apart from media. The audit gives every agency the same targets to quote against.

  • By whether the numbers move after the fixes. Before the audit ends, we agree three or four numbers to watch, such as cost per lead, reply time and the share of serious leads. If you choose a re-check, we review the same numbers after the fixes are made.
