/ 01 Social media marketing agency for ecommerce

Likes don't pay the courier.Orders do.

For an online brand, every social post and ad can be traced to orders, or to nothing. PromotEdge plans, makes and runs Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp work for ecommerce and D2C (direct-to-consumer) brands that sell online.

The aim: orders at a cost you can afford, from customers who come back.

For a D2C brand, social media is the shop window, and the billing counter is one tap away. Likes are cheap to get. Orders are not.

So we judge the work on orders from social, on customer acquisition cost (CAC), what you spend to win one new buyer, and on repeat purchase rate. We will also tell you when social is not the answer.

Skincare sells on demos, fashion on fit and try-ons, and pet brands on trust between owners. Our D2C marketing agency page covers the rest.

The basics

11 items

For D2C brands on social media

6 items
  • Instagram and Facebook shop or product tagsMeta Commerce Policies cover shops and catalogues. Check your account qualifies.
  • A WhatsApp catalogue and opt-in listWhatsApp Business policy: message only people who opted in.
  • A creator brief with the label ruleASCI guidelines: an upfront label, such as Ad or Collaboration.
  • Permission to reuse customer photos and videosGood practice: keep the customer's yes on file.
  • True countdowns and stock messagesDark patterns guidelines, 2023: no false urgency.
  • Admin access held by two trusted peopleGood practice: one lost login should not shut your shop window.

/ 04 What usually gets in the way

What gets in the wayand the way through.

“We have 40,000 followers and get a handful of orders.”

Turn the feed towards the product in use, link every post, and count orders, not follows. UTM codes (small codes that show where a visit came from) show what sells.

“Our one winning ad stopped working.”

Keep new videos coming every week, so a tested one is always ready to take over.

“Our comments are full of 'price?' and 'COD available?', and nobody replies.”

Reply within working hours, and move orders to DM (direct message) or WhatsApp. COD means cash on delivery.

“People tap through from Instagram, add to cart and vanish.”

Retargeting ads, shown again to people who looked but didn't buy, bring many back. Check the checkout too: a late shipping charge loses orders.

“Our whole brand sits on one Instagram account.”

Invite people on every post to a WhatsApp or email list you own, with their clear yes.

/ 06 How we work

From the first videoto the repeat order.

  1. 01

    1. Start with your numbers

We find your break-even CAC: the most you can pay for a new customer. Our analytics and tracking team counts the orders. Then we pick two or three hero products.

  2. 02

    2. Make many short videos, and stop the losers fast

Each week, short videos test one idea each, such as a hook or a demo, on small Meta ads budgets. Weak ones stop within days. AI tools draft captions, and a person on our team reads every one.

  3. 03

    3. Add UGC and creators, labelled the right way

UGC (user-generated content) is photos and videos of real people using your product, collected with permission. Our influencer marketing team vets small creators. Under ASCI (Advertising Standards Council of India) rules, gifted posts carry a label too.

  4. 04

    4. Make buying possible from the post

Where your account qualifies, we set up shops and product tags on Instagram and Facebook, and a WhatsApp Business catalogue through our WhatsApp marketing work. Customers who agreed also get an email nudge.

  5. 05

    5. Plan the sale calendar, and report

We plan content four to six weeks before Diwali and other sales. Countdowns must be true: the consumer regulator CCPA bans false urgency. Each month you get one report: orders, CAC and repeat buys.

Creator posts need a clear label, and the brand is responsible too. Here is the rule, how shoppers move, and who does what.

Social media for D2C in depth

The rule that matters

ASCI's influencer guidelines say a material connection, which includes free products and discounts, needs a disclosure that is upfront and prominent, not buried in hashtags. On a video of 15 seconds or less, the label stays at least 3 seconds. The brand and the influencer are both responsible.

Press Information Bureau, release 1892527, 20 Jan 2023, Department of Consumer Affairs guide 'Endorsement Know-hows!' (https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1892527). Both read 10 Oct 2026

How buyers decide

Our view: a shopper sees a Reel, checks the comments for price and delivery, opens the product page and looks at ratings before paying. Many ask on WhatsApp first. They drop out when comments go unanswered, or when the checkout shows a surprise charge.

What you can do, and what is not ours

You can reply to comments fast, share real customer photos with permission, and keep admin access of your accounts with more than one person. Platform reach and ad approvals are not ours to set. If buyers do not return, fix the product, price or delivery first.

How we would deliver, and why each step

We start with margin and CAC, because social can sell a lot and still lose money. We test many short videos, because ads wear out. We label creator posts, because the rules hold both sides responsible. We report orders, because likes do not pay the courier.

Bodies to know

ASCI: the Advertising Standards Council of India, an independent, voluntary body that aims to keep ads truthful under its own code.

Department of Consumer Affairs: the government department that handles consumer protection and runs the National Consumer Helpline.

/ 07 Cost

What affects the cost of social media for an ecommerce brand.

No price list. These things move the number.

We don't publish a price list. Ad spend, creator fees and shoots are billed at actuals.

What affects the cost

  • Creative volume. New videos each month move the cost most.
  • Who is on camera. Your team, creators or models.
  • Catalogue size. A few hero products, or a full range.

How we quote

  1. A free 30-minute strategist call, then a one-page plan. We take on a limited number, so we'll say honestly if yours fits
  2. We write the scope: videos a month, creators and the report
  3. A written quote follows within 2 working days of the first call

What you get in the quote

  • New videos each month, and who appears in them
  • The monthly report on orders, CAC and repeat purchases

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
Monthly retainerTesting, posting, replies and reports; minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice
Sale-season sprintA launch or festive season; we confirm the timeline in the quote
Creative supply onlyTest videos for your own ads team; timeline in the quote

Ask every agency how many new videos you get each month.

/ 08 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Brands and people are named only as public examples. They are not PromotEdge clients or endorsers unless stated.

Running a D2C or ecommerce brand?

Tell us what's not selling. We'll show you where the orders are.

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • We won't claim to be right for every brand. Ask any agency, us included: Will you report orders, or likes? How many new videos will we get each month? Will the ad account and content stay in our company's name?

  • It depends mostly on how many new videos you need each month, who appears in them and how many creators you use. Ad spend and creator fees are separate, at actuals. We don't publish a price list. A written quote follows within 2 working days of the first call.

  • Paid tests show fairly early which videos sell. A steady, affordable CAC takes longer, because it comes from repeated testing. Community and repeat purchases build more slowly still. Nobody can honestly promise an order count. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • A creator with a material connection to your brand, such as payment, a free product or a discount, must label the post. ASCI wants the label upfront, not buried in hashtags. The Department of Consumer Affairs' 2023 guide asks the same, and the brand is responsible too. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • Partly. Shops on Facebook and Instagram, and the WhatsApp Business catalogue, let people browse inside the apps. Meta's Commerce Policies apply to all of them, and some products, such as medical devices and ingestible supplements, are not allowed. We check your account first. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • Only if they are true. The consumer regulator CCPA's dark patterns guidelines, notified in November 2023, apply to sellers and advertisers and ban false urgency, such as faking how much stock is left. A real sale end date is fine. A timer that restarts for every visitor is not. General guidance, not legal advice.
