Media andmarketing costs
What advertising really costs in India, from public rate cards.
What does advertisingcost in India?
These guides show what media costs in India, using public rate cards rather than guesses. Each one gives rates by city or channel, explains what makes the price go up or down, and works through sample budgets you can compare with any quote.
Our main sources are the government's Central Bureau of Communication, which publishes the rates it pays FM stations and newspapers, and Doordarshan's own rate card for businesses. Where private media don't publish their prices, we say so plainly and explain how they are usually set.
All figures are media costs only. Production, GST and agency fees are extra, and we don't publish our own fees. Each guide explains how agencies charge and what to ask for when you compare quotes. We re-check these guides every quarter and change the date only when a rate changes.
Our beliefChange is the only constant.

Not exactly. They are public rate cards, mostly what the government pays. Private advertisers can be quoted differently, so use these guides to compare quotes, not as a final price. Ask every seller for a written quote, and check each line against the rate card and the notes in the guide.
-
We re-check these guides every quarter, or sooner when a rate card changes. Each guide shows the date we read its source, so you can see how fresh the figure is. We change the date only when a rate changes, so an older date means the rate has stayed the same since.
-
Some media, such as private channels or agencies, do not publish rates, so no public price exists. In those guides we explain how the price is set and what to ask for, instead of guessing a number. Where a platform uses an auction, such as Google or Meta, the price depends on your own campaign.

No. The figures are media costs only. Production, GST and agency fees are extra, and we do not publish our own fees. Each guide explains how agencies charge and what to ask for, so you can read a full quote line by line and compare it with others.
