Franchise digital marketingfor growing networks

For franchisors who need the right investors, and outlets that need customers nearby. Fewer junk enquiries, more signed partners, and outlets that pay back.

Updated 10 Oct 2026

Talk to a strategist who knows your trade

A strategist calls you in one working day. We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

/ 01 Franchise marketing agency

You sell to two buyers. Both check the same outlet.

A franchisor sells a business to investors and a product to customers at the same time, and a weak outlet quietly kills recruitment in its city. PromotEdge does franchise digital marketing for brands on both sides.

We find investors who can actually buy and run an outlet. Then we bring customers to every outlet once it opens. The aim is signed franchise agreements and outlets that pay back, not a pile of enquiries.

An investor decides slowly, often with family money. Before signing, they visit your outlets, read the reviews and call a franchisee. They want plain numbers on total investment, working capital, break-even time and support.

Your model sets who markets each outlet. FOFO (franchise owned, franchise operated): the franchisee funds and runs it. FOCO (franchise owned, company operated): the franchisee funds it, your team runs it. COCO (company owned, company operated): you do both.

This page is for brands that grow through outlets, like cafés and restaurants, coaching institutes and other education brands, salons, gyms and clinics. Digital marketing for franchise brands runs on two tracks: investor ads and an honest investor page, then each outlet's Google listing and local ads. For one shop, see marketing for local businesses.

/ 02 What usually gets in the way

What gets in the wayand the way through.

“We get hundreds of franchise enquiries. Almost none can invest.”

Add four or five qualifying questions: city, investment band, own or rented space and start date. Then call the serious ones first, within hours.

This is mine

“Our ad promised big earnings. The wrong people called, and Google rejected it.”

Show the investment range and the assumptions behind any number. Real franchisees, with their consent, tell the rest. Promised returns draw the wrong people.

This is mine

“Franchisees pay into the marketing fund, then ask where the money went.”

Report the fund outlet by outlet. Each month, every franchisee sees what ran for their outlet and what it brought.

This is mine

“A new outlet opens and nobody nearby knows.”

Start weeks before opening: the listing goes live, local ads run, and opening day gets signage and an activation. Then check footfall in weeks one and four.

/ 04 Order to start

Recruit the right investors. Then keep every outlet busy.

StepWhat we doWhy
1. Investor pageAn honest page with the investment range, open territories and a qualifying form.Clear numbers put off the wrong people.
2. Investor ads and follow-upGoogle, Meta and LinkedIn ads for investors, then WhatsApp and phone follow-up until they sign.Investors take weeks, so quick, polite follow-up wins.
3. Expos and investor meetsA stall, invites before the show and investor meets in your cities. Delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy.Investors want to meet the founder first.
4. Brand rules for outletsA brand kit, local post templates and a rulebook on what franchisees may change.Customers trust the brand, not one owner.
5. Listings, local ads and launchesOne Google Business Profile per outlet, local ads from the fund, and a launch kit with signage for each opening. Most customers find an outlet on Google Maps.

These steps are part of our digital marketing and on-ground work, tied together by tracking. Start with the track that hurts most.

/ 05 Cost

What affects the cost of franchise marketing.

We don't publish a price list. After a 30-minute strategist call, a written quote follows within 2 working days. Ad spend, expo space and launch costs are billed at actuals, and you approve them first.

What affects the cost

  • Track. Recruiting franchisees, marketing the outlets, or both.
  • Outlets. Each needs its own listing, local ads and report.
  • Cities and expos. How many territories and shows a year.
  • Launch pace. How many outlets open each quarter.

How we quote

  1. We talk about your model and plans
  2. We check your enquiry form and outlet listings, then send a scope

When franchise enquiries reach staff on their own WhatsApp accounts, follow-ups depend on memory and some would-be franchisees slip through.

The franchise market in depth

Market size and trend

India keeps no official franchise count. A July 2023 trade forecast puts it at about 4,600 franchisors and close to 2 lakh outlets, with 35% of brands in food and drink. A January 2024 paper for the Prime Minister's advisers repeats the count.

Source: PTI on the FranCast whitepaper, 15 July 2023. EAC-PM working paper, Need for Franchising Laws in India, January 2024

How buyers decide

Our view: a customer checks the map and reviews, then walks into the nearest outlet. A future owner visits a few outlets, calls a franchisee and asks family. Both drop out at a weak outlet or an unanswered call.

What buyers expect

In their words. Customers ask, "Is it the same as the other outlet?" Future owners ask, "What is my total cost? When do I break even?" Few say aloud, "Will head office still pick up after I sign?" They judge you on it.

How franchise brands sell

Unit franchise: one owner, one outlet. Master franchise: one partner holds a region or country and recruits owners, so rules must travel in writing. Area developer: one owner opens a set number of outlets, so launches need a steady rhythm. See our business models guide and dealership marketing.

Source: EAC-PM working paper, January 2024

Where it is heading, and AI today and next

Food brands are heading to smaller cities: a September 2025 survey found nearly 94% of 160-plus restaurant operators plan to expand there. AI today answers investor enquiries and sorts forms. AI next may name franchise brands when investors ask. It cannot fix a weak outlet. See our AI systems.

A brand journey worth knowing: Jumboking

Dheeraj Gupta opened the first Jumboking outside Malad station, Mumbai, in 2001, on a ₹2 lakh loan. By 2012 half its 52 stores were company-owned. He said its job was not to run stores, and it went back to franchising.

It then sold itself as a burger brand.

What you can do, and how we would deliver

What you can do, and what is not ours

A franchise lawyer drafts your agreement and disclosure papers. Your accountant checks the numbers investors see. Hire an in-house sales manager once enquiries need a daily owner. We take the investor page, ads, brand kit, listings and launches.

How we would deliver, and why each step

First the investor page, because clear numbers put off the wrong people. Then ads and WhatsApp follow-up, since investors take weeks. Then brand rules, so outlet twenty looks like outlet one. Last, listings, local ads and launch kits, because most customers find an outlet on Google Maps. Vinnay Agarwaal, our COO (Chief Operating Officer), plans the operations and looks after our food, drink and lifestyle accounts. Saurav Agarwal, our Founder and CEO, takes the strategy call, the business review and the budget and return-on-investment logic.

Brand basics checklist

The basics

For franchise brands

  • Franchise disclosure document and agreement summaryYour lawyer drafts it. India has no national franchise law (EAC-PM, 2024). Not legal advice.
  • Unit economics sheetWhat one outlet costs and earns, with assumptions. Your accountant checks it; no promised returns.
  • Brand manual for outletsLogo use, colours, tone, shop layout and what a franchisee may change.
  • Outlet signage and launch kitOne sign standard and one opening-day plan for every new outlet.
  • Franchise enquiry form and qualifying questionsCity, budget band, space and start date, with a consent line.
  • Earnings claims that pass ASCI and CCPA rulesASCI Code: no misleading returns. CCPA (consumer protection authority) 2022: proof for claims.

Few franchise rules. So honesty is on you.

Honest marketing is on you.

No franchise law. A January 2024 paper for the Prime Minister's economic advisory council (EAC-PM) says India has no central regulator or national franchise law. It adds that franchisors know far more than franchisees. Take legal advice.

Investor ads. ASCI (the Advertising Standards Council of India) says ads that invite the public to invest must not mislead about returns, and must show the assumptions. We hold franchise ads to this.

Google Ads. Google does not allow unrealistic promises of large returns for little risk, effort or investment, such as guaranteed returns.

Outlet ads. The Central Consumer Protection Authority's 2022 guidelines cover every ad, in any medium. An ad must be truthful, and its claims must be capable of proof.

Google listings. All outlets in one country use the same name and, for the same service, the same category. Each outlet gets one profile. A franchisee that sells only your brand may use your brand name.

10 or more outlets. Google allows bulk verification, and may remove it if profiles aren't actively managed.

General guidance, not legal advice.

AI for the back office

operations

Keeping standards the same across outlets in many cities is hard, and one poorly run outlet can harm the whole brand image.

The AI fix Outlets upload daily checklists and photos, and a reader tool flags missing items for the area manager. The manager visits flagged outlets and decides the action.

operations

A franchise outlet can struggle for years and keep losing money. By the time the owner closes it, a lot of money is gone.

The AI fix A model checks each site against similar outlets' sales, footfall and rent, and flags weak ones early. The expansion head decides which to approve, fix or close.

Chai Sutta Bar

Prove one outlet works first. When people ask to open the same shop, turn those requests into your franchise plan.

Naturals Salon

Share the cost with investors to open faster. Train their staff yourself, and keep a plan for taking over an outlet they cannot run.

What they did After six outlets, Naturals moved to an equal-stake model where investors paid half the cost. It trains staff in its own academy and takes over salons a franchisee cannot run.

Jumboking

Count what each outlet really costs before opening more. If shops you own keep losing money, look at a franchise model.

What they did It began in 2001 and had 52 stores by 2012, half company-owned. After losses it moved to a franchise model and said it was growing again by 2013.

Straight answers.

  • It is marketing for a brand that grows through franchise outlets. One part finds investors who can buy and run an outlet. The other brings customers to every outlet. Most brands start with one part, in two cities, and add the other later.

  • Put real numbers on your opportunity page: the investment range, working capital and your support. Add qualifying questions to the form, such as city, budget band and available space. Then call the serious ones first, and fast. Follow-up decides who signs, more than ads.

  • We won't claim to be the best. Ask every agency the same questions, including us. Will you judge recruitment on signed agreements, not enquiries? How will you report the marketing fund, outlet by outlet? Who keeps our Google listings clean? Will you tell us if our model isn't ready to sell?

  • It depends on the track, the number of outlets and cities, your expos and how fast you open. We don't publish a price list. A written quote follows within 2 working days of the first call. Ad spend is billed separately at actuals.

  • Ads can bring enquiries within days. A signature usually takes weeks or months, because investors check outlets, talk to family and arrange money. Nobody can honestly promise a number of signings by a date. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • India has no single national franchise law, so most terms sit in the franchise agreement. Take legal advice on it. The ASCI Code says investment ads must not mislead about returns and must show their assumptions. Ads to customers must be truthful too. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Your franchise agreement decides. Many brands collect a marketing fund (also called an ad fund or co-op fund) from every franchisee and spend it centrally. Some also ask franchisees to spend on local ads. Either way, report the spend outlet by outlet.

  • Yes. Our servicing team is based in cities across India. Most work runs online, and we meet clients in their city at least once every three months. We have an in-house team of 65+. We bring in industry consultants, and for some jobs a partner agency.
