Newspaper ads thatget read and acted on.

A newspaper ad works or fails on where and when it runs, long before anyone reads the copy. PromotEdge plans, designs and books newspaper advertisements in English, Hindi and regional dailies, choosing the paper, edition, day and page that reach your buyers, so each ad brings calls, walk-ins and sales.

Print suits launches, real estate, admissions, retail offers, notices and B2B trust. Diagnostic centres and wellness chains announce new branches. Industrial manufacturers use trade journals to earn buyers' trust.

For steady repetition on a small budget, radio, outdoor (OOH) or digital usually cost less. If your buyers read the news on their phones, start with search and paid campaigns, then add print for launch days.

/ 02 What we handle

From the planto proof it ran.

01

Publication plan

Papers, editions, languages and days for your buyers. In the east: Anandabazar Patrika, Bartaman, Sangbad Pratidin, The Telegraph, The Times of India, The Statesman. Elsewhere: Dainik Bhaskar, Eenadu, Malayala Manorama.

02

Display ads

Designed ads priced by area, a rate per sq cm, from a small box to a full page. They suit launches, offers, admissions and corporate news.

03

Classifieds and notices

Boxed classified display, or text lines under a heading such as property, recruitment, matrimonial or name change. Notices released accurately on the required date.

04

Front-page positions

Jackets (a wrap over the front page), solus (the only ad) and ear panels, at fixed rates per edition, booked weeks ahead.

05

Inserts and supplements

Leaflets placed inside the paper area by area, priced per thousand copies, and ads in city, property, education or festive supplements.

06

Magazines and trade journals

Priced per page or part-page, per issue, for B2B trust and specialist readers who keep the issue.

07

Design and language versions

Ads written for each language edition, not translated word for word, with one offer, proof, address, phone number and QR code.

08

Rates, booking and proof

The quoted rate for every insertion, with colour and position charges, before you approve. Tear sheets (the page cut from the paper) or e-paper copies show what ran.

/ 03 What usually gets in the way

Where newspaper ads fall short, and the way through.

“We booked a half page and it landed next to a bigger competitor ad.”

Position matters as much as size. We ask for specific pages where the paper sells them, and avoid days when your category is crowded.

“The ad ran in editions where we don't even sell.”

Big dailies sell city and district editions separately. We book only the editions that cover your stores, dealers or project area.

“Every booking agent quoted a different rate for the same ad.”

The final rate depends on edition, size, colour, position and volume. You get the quoted rate for each insertion in writing before release.

“We can't tell if the ad brought any calls.”

Give it something to count: a number, WhatsApp keyword, QR code or offer code that appears only in print. Then compare release days with the days around them.

“Our ad was full of text and nobody read it.”

Readers scan. One headline, one picture, one offer and a clear way to respond do more than a crowded page.

“We missed the festive front page because we booked too late.”

Jackets and front-page spots before Durga Puja, Diwali or a big launch go early. We reserve them weeks ahead and finish artwork to each paper's deadline.

“We keep booking the same big daily because we always have, and the cost per enquiry keeps rising.”

We compare your papers and editions with smaller ones that reach the same buyers, then move money to what brings enquiries, with rates and counted responses side by side.

“The ad printed one staff member's mobile number, and he was in a meeting when the calls came.”

Print brings a burst of calls on one morning. We set up a shared number or WhatsApp line and a CRM (one place that keeps and follows up every enquiry), so no response is lost.

/ 04 How a release works

Plan, book,release, prove.

A standard display ad can often run within a few days of approved artwork. Jackets and festive front pages need weeks of notice. What can't be measured can't be achieved, so every release carries a way to count the response.

  1. 01

    Plan

Papers, editions, languages, days and positions for your buyers, with circulation and current rates side by side.

  2. 02

    Create

One headline, one offer, proof you can stand behind and a way to respond, designed for each size and edition.

  3. 03

    Book

Space booked through our media partners (who place the booking with the paper), with premium dates reserved early.

  4. 04

    Release

Material checked against each paper's size, colour and deadline rules, then sent to every edition on time.

  5. 05

    Prove and measure

Tear sheets or e-paper copies for every insertion, and responses counted by number, code and edition.

How we deliver it, and why

  1. Choose edition and day before size. A quarter page on the right day in the right edition often beats a full page when buyers are not looking. We start with logic and your numbers, then the layout. A short list of papers, editions and days.
  2. Reserve premium spots early. Jackets and festive pages sell out first, so booking weeks ahead gets the position that matters. Sourav Majumder, our creative designer, prepares the print-ready artwork files. Dates held in writing.
  3. Give every ad something to count. A print-only number or code turns 'did it work?' into a count we can compare across papers. Responses by paper and edition.
  4. Compare papers by cost per reader. Habit raises costs. Side-by-side rates and counted responses show where the next rupee should go. A paper-by-paper table.

Print in India today

The FICCI-EY report of 24 March 2026 said print advertising revenue rose about 2% in 2025, while all advertising grew about 13% to ₹1.5 trillion. Print holds its ground for launches and notices.

A brand that used print as one stop

Amul told PrintWeek India in June 2012 that its butter topical ad could be accessed in 25 newspapers plus outdoor and TV. Print was one stop for a single idea.

Who sets the rules and who shaped the field in India

MRUC, set up in 1994, runs the Indian Readership Survey, the print readership currency; its 2019 Q4 release (8 May 2020) showed newspaper readership in slow decline. ASCI, set up in 1985, runs the ad code. AAAI, formed in 1945, is the agencies' body.

How your business model changes the plan

A franchise or local chain books the city and district editions near its outlets. A D2C or dealer-led brand books print for launch days only. Education and real estate plan around admission windows and site-visit weekends.

AI in print: today and next

Canva's Magic Studio includes Magic Switch, which turns one design into other formats, and Adobe Firefly makes images from licensed content, Adobe said in February 2025.

We use them for first drafts and size versions. Rate checks, deadlines and the facts in the copy stay with people. Next: faster language editions.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the costof a newspaper ad.

Space is priced by each paper and billed as booked. Design is charged separately unless it is part of a wider campaign.

What affects the cost

  • The paper, edition and language
  • Ad size in sq cm, or the fixed size of a jacket or solus
  • Colour or black and white
  • Page and position: the front page and named pages cost more
  • Day of the week and season, especially festive weeks, and the number of insertions

How we quote

  1. We ask which readers you want, in which cities and in which languages
  2. We shortlist papers and editions, and check their circulation and ad rules
  3. You get a written plan with size, page, dates and each paper's rate on its own line
  4. Space is billed at each paper's rate, shown before you approve the booking

What you get in the quote

  • The list of papers, editions and insertion dates
  • Ad size, colour and page or position for each insertion
  • Each paper's rate card price, as booked
  • Design and adaptations, booking and release orders
  • Tear sheets after release

To compare two print quotes, ask each to name the paper, edition, size and date for every line. Holding two? Send them to us.

Straight answers.

  • It depends on the paper, edition, size, colour, page, position and day. Display ads are priced by area, usually per sq cm, so size is the easiest lever. A small regional ad costs a fraction of a metro front-page jacket. See our newspaper advertisement cost guide.

  • Choose the paper, edition, date and size, book the space, send artwork before the deadline and pay before release. A regular display ad often needs only a few days to a week if the artwork is ready; front-page jackets and festival dates go earlier. With us, send the message and dates on WhatsApp. See newspaper advertising.

  • Choose the one your buyers read, in the editions where you sell. English papers reach business and urban readers; regional papers reach households across a state, including many who never read English. Across West Bengal a Bengali daily usually reaches more buyers. We compare editions by cost per reader first.

  • INS accreditation affects how an agency books space and its credit terms with member publications. We book newspaper space through our media partners, and you see each paper's rate in writing before you approve. Ask any agency how it books and who carries the credit, then compare.

  • Give it something to count: a dedicated number, WhatsApp keyword, QR code or offer code that appears only in print. Compare enquiries on release days and editions with those without. You get counts by paper and edition, with the cost of each enquiry.

  • A full-page advertisement that wraps the front of the newspaper, so readers see it before the news. Some papers also sell a half-page version. It is the most visible position in print, priced to match, and worth saving for launches and big news.

  • Send us the exact text, the papers and editions and the date. We show each rate, check the wording against the paper's rules and send proof after release. Legal notices sometimes need specific papers or wording, so check with your lawyer or company secretary first.

  • Yes. Most papers take bookings online, so our servicing team, based in cities across India, books editions anywhere and meets you at least every three months. You see each rate first. Print can sit in one advertising plan with radio, outdoor and digital.
