/ 01 Professional services marketing agency

Clients buy trust.Your marketing has to earn it first.

A client can't test your work before hiring you, so they check the name they were given online before they call. For law firms, chartered accountant (CA) firms and consultancies, PromotEdge makes your firm easy to find and easy to check, within your professional body's rules.

The aim is that more of the right people book a first consultation with you.

They check your website, the partner's LinkedIn page and your Google listing. Good marketing doesn't replace referrals. It makes sure referrals turn into consultations.

Partners often win the work and do it, so their time is scarce. We have run our own firm since 2015, so we build from what partners already know.

Advocates may not advertise under the Bar Council of India rules. Chartered accountants follow ICAI (the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). Firms that may advertise follow the ASCI code (the Advertising Standards Council of India).

Digital marketing for law firms has to stay inside Rule 36. So SEO for law firms here means an accurate website, a correct Google listing and plain explainers. We run no ads, cold emails or bought leads for advocates.

Your practice: law firms, chartered accountants, immigration consultants, recruitment agencies or coaches.

Election campaigns need a legal or compliance adviser to sign off their ads. See our political campaigns page.

/ 02 What usually gets in the way

What gets in the wayand the way through.

“Almost all our work is referrals. If they slow down, we have nothing.”

Keep referrals as the base and add a second route: being found when people search their problem.

This is mine

“Our partners are too busy with client work to market the firm.”

Draft from a 30-minute partner interview, never from a client's file. The partner approves weekly.

This is mine

“We aren't allowed to advertise, so marketing isn't for us.”

An accurate website and clear writing are not ads. We agree what is in and out first, then keep to your rulebook.

This is mine

“Our website looks like every other firm's: services and a contact form.”

Show who will handle the matter: people, areas of practice and plain answers first, then a short enquiry form.

Found, checked, remembered.Then booked.

We believe in process. Start small for 90 days, read the numbers, then add what pays.

StepWhat we doWhy
1. PositioningChoose the two or three kinds of work the firm wants to be known for.A firm known for one thing is easier to refer.
2. Website and partner pagesA page for each partner and area of work, with plain answers and a short enquiry form.Almost every referral checks your website first.
3. SEO and AI searchSEO (search engine optimisation) shows your firm when people search their problem. We fix your Google listing and work on AI answers too.Clients search the problem, rarely your name.
4. LinkedIn and articlesPartner profiles, a posting plan and bylined articles. Our content team drafts them and our public relations team places them where rules allow.Buyers look up the partner first.
5. Follow-up and trackingA CRM (customer relationship management software) that logs each enquiry and its source, plus an email newsletter. It shows which effort books consultations.

Advocates: we check each row against Rule 36 and run no paid ads or cold emails. Seminars run online, or in person through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy.

/ 05 Cost

What affects the cost of marketing a professional firm.

We don't publish a price list. After a 30-minute strategist call, a written quote follows within 2 working days.

What affects the cost

  • Your rulebook. Advocates and CA firms need more review and fewer channels.
  • Areas of work. Each needs its own page, explainers and posts.
  • Partners who write or speak. Each needs profile work and review time.
  • Seminars. A webinar costs far less than an in-person event.

How we quote

  1. We talk for 30 minutes about your practice and where clients come from
  2. We check your website, Google listing and partner profiles
  3. A written quote follows, each cost on its own line. Nothing starts until you approve it

What you get in the quote

  • The rules note: what we will publish, and what we won't
  • Website and profile work, listed item by item
  • Monthly articles and posts, and who approves them
  • A monthly report of consultations booked, by source

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
Set-up projectWebsite, profiles and tracking, done once. Websites usually take 4 to 6 weeks; we confirm the timeline in the quote
Monthly retainerWriting, LinkedIn, search upkeep and a report. Minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop

A good first plan is often small. Venue, ad and tool costs are paid at actuals.

Every client and project is different. The cost depends on the effort it takes, so we price after the first call.

Where AI can help Professional servicestoday.

Real business problems, from sales to back office, each with a plain AI fix. A person stays in charge of every step.

marketing

ICAI's revised Code of Ethics, applicable from 1 April 2026, relaxes the advertisement norms, but a firm must still stay within the Code.

The AI fix AI drafts plain explainers on due dates, and a form or WhatsApp assistant takes enquiry details. A partner edits every post and checks it against the ICAI Code.

sales

Bar Council of India rules bar advocates from soliciting work or advertising, even indirectly, so a law firm must handle new enquiries with care.

The AI fix AI only acknowledges enquiries people send on their own, collects case type and city, and books a consultation. A lawyer approves every message template and checks the rules.

The professional services market in depth

Market size and trend

ICAI's own table shows 4,53,590 chartered accountants on 1 April 2026, and 1,65,756 of them are in practice. For recruiters, the Indian Staffing Federation reports that flexi staffing jobs rose 2.6% in April to June 2026 over the quarter before, and 7.5% over a year. That is a lot of firms chasing each client.

How buyers decide

Our view: a business owner asks a friend, a banker or another professional for a name. Then they search the name, read the website and the partner's LinkedIn page, and check the body's register. They call two or three firms. They drop out when nobody replies, or when the scope is unclear.

What buyers expect

In their words: "Are you qualified? Will you keep my papers private? Can I follow what you say?" Few say the next ones aloud, but they judge you on a fast, human reply, a clear scope and fee basis, and a firm that keeps its own rules.

How firms here sell

Our view: most firms win work by referral and keep it on a yearly retainer. Some sell by project, such as a deal or a case. Banks and big companies hire from a panel, as on our BFSI page. IT services firms share the referral problem. See the services model in our business models guide.

Where it is heading, and AI today and next

ICAI said on 26 June 2026 that it has trained over 50,000 members in AI. In July 2026 the Supreme Court said citing unchecked AI-made judgments is misconduct for an advocate. AI today answers enquiries, sends due-date reminders and drafts first versions. AI next may run client portals. It cannot earn a client's trust for you. See our AI systems.

A brand journey worth knowing: ClearTax

Archit Gupta started ClearTax in 2011 with his father, a chartered accountant. The site went live on 19 July 2011, 11 days before the filing deadline. He says he had no marketing budget, so he emailed friends.

By 2014 TechCrunch counted over 300,000 filers in a year, with 70 chartered accountants on call for doubts.

What you can do, and how we would deliver

What you can do, and what is not ours

Your advice, your client work and your referrals stay yours. When a rule is unclear, ask your professional body. An office manager can answer calls and keep the enquiry sheet. A CRM tool (one place to log every enquiry) can be bought on its own. We take the website, search, writing and tracking.

How we would deliver, and why each step

First positioning, so partners are known for two or three kinds of work. Then the website, because every referral checks it. Then SEO for people who search the problem. LinkedIn and articles come next, as buyers look up the partner. Last, CRM tracking, so each consultation has a source. Saurav Agarwal, our Founder and CEO, takes the strategy call, the business review and the budget and return-on-investment logic. Shivanand Mishra, our Digital Marketing Lead, runs the SEO audits, the B2B (business-to-business) lead generation and the reporting.

Life and business coaches

People watch a coach for weeks, through posts, a free session and past clients, before they book a discovery call (a free first call). Use Instagram for life and wellness coaches and LinkedIn for business and career coaches, and give every post one next step. Claims of fact must be provable under the Central Consumer Protection Authority's 2022 guidelines. Where its 2024 coaching guidelines apply, a client's name or testimonial needs written consent taken after the result. Coaching is not therapy, so make no treatment claims. Exam coaching is a different market: see coaching institutes.

Recruitment agencies

Employers pay you and candidates decide if you are real, so one trust page serves both: address, registration number, consultants and a plain "No fee from candidates" line. Google's job posting policy bars jobs that need payment from applicants, expired jobs and jobs behind a login. Give each live role its own page and take it down when the role closes, so SEO reaches people searching that role in that city. Send WhatsApp job alerts only to people who opted in. Give each consultant a LinkedIn page that sells. Jobs abroad have their own rules: see immigration consultants.

Source: Google Search Central, Job posting structured data, Job posting content policies. LinkedIn, Jobs Policies, Fraud and Deception. Read 8 October 2026

Immigration consultants

An applicant hands over a passport and savings, so show the firm is real: address and registration numbers linked to official registers. A licence in one country does not cover another. In Canada, paid advice must come from an authorised person, such as a member of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. In India, the Emigration Act, 1983 asks anyone who recruits for jobs abroad to register. ASCI said in 2020 that nobody can guarantee 100% visa success. Use Google Ads on country and visa searches and WhatsApp only with opt-in. For students, see study abroad consultants.

Chartered accountants

A banker or friend gives a client your name, and they check it. Make sure what they find is right and breaks no rule. Clauses (6) and (7) of the First Schedule to the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 bar soliciting and advertising, except through a write-up under ICAI's guidelines. The guidelines also bar testimonials and exaggerated claims. Our content team writes explainers to go live before each due date: advance tax on 15 June, 15 September, 15 December and 15 March, and the tax audit report on 30 September. Partners can use LinkedIn within the same guidelines.

Source: ICAI, Code of Ethics, 13th edition, Volume I, First Schedule Part I Clauses (6) and (7) and Chapter 3, Council Guidelines for Advertisement, read 8 October 2026. Income Tax Department, FAQs on advance tax and on the tax audit report, read 8 October 2026

Consultants

Our view: a company hires a consultant after a referral or after reading the consultant's own writing. Then it checks who will do the work, what the report will hold, what it costs and who used the firm before. A short note on how you work, with a sample report that hides client names, answers those checks. A talk or an article by a partner brings the next call. We found no professional body's advertising rule for consultants, so the ASCI Code applies: claims must be capable of proof. The advice and the analysis are not ours.

Source: ASCI, The ASCI Code, Chapter I, read 11 October 2026. The buyer checks are our view

Who sets your rules decides what we publish.

Your partners sign a one-page note on what we will and won't publish.

Advocates: Bar Council of India, Rule 36. Advocates may not solicit work or advertise, directly or indirectly. A 2008 addition allows a website with set details only.

Chartered accountants: ICAI. The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 bars solicitation and advertisement, says ICAI. Its guidelines allow a firm website. The 13th Code of Ethics applies from 1 April 2026.

GST practitioners: Rule 83, CGST Rules, 2017. It sets who may enrol and says nothing about advertising, so marketing for CA firms with a GST desk still follows ICAI.

Firms that may advertise: ASCI. Ads must be truthful, and factual claims must be provable. Ask before you name a client. ASCI also lists made-up testimonials as prohibited.

Contact lists: Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. Its Rules were notified on 14 November 2025, with eighteen months to comply. Forms need a clear consent notice, and people can withdraw any time.

Your professional body has the final word. This is general guidance, not legal advice. ICAI said on 12 September 2026 it has over 15 lakh members and students, and 8,964 new CAs received certificates that month.

Straight answers.

  • It helps firms that sell expertise, such as law firms, CA firms and consultancies, win clients. Clients buy on trust, so we build a clear website, partner profiles, useful writing and enquiry tracking. Ads come only where your rules allow.

  • No agency can honestly claim to be the best, so ask four things. Have they read your professional body's rules? What will they refuse to publish? How much partner time will it take? Do they report consultations booked, not only visits and likes? Ask for each answer in writing.

  • It depends on your rulebook, areas of work, partners who write or speak, website and seminars. Advocates and CA firms need more review and fewer channels. We don't publish a price list. A written quote follows within 2 working days of the first call, each cost on its own line.

  • Fixing your website, Google listing and partner profiles helps early, as referrals check you first. Search results usually come in 3 to 6 months. A seminar can book meetings within days. For everything else, we confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • Within limits. Bar Council Rule 36 bars advocates from soliciting or advertising but allows a website with set details. ICAI bars CAs from solicitation and advertisement but allows a firm website. Both bodies also say what a website may show. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Yes, through partners' own profiles, because buyers look up the person they might hire. Write for the founder or finance head, and answer real questions, not firm news. Advocates should never pitch for work there, as Rule 36 still applies. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Often, yes, when a new rule or tax date gives people a reason to come. The value is in the follow-up: a useful takeaway, consent to stay in touch and one next step. Webinars cost less and reach further. Advocates and CAs should check their body's rules first.

  • We count consultations booked, by source, and how many became paying clients. Each new enquiry is asked how they heard of you, and the answer goes into one sheet. A monthly report follows, in plain words. Likes and visits come last. If an activity brings readers but no consultations, we move the effort.
