/ 01 Digital marketing for education

The ad brings the enquiry. The counsellor wins the admission.

Nobody pays for a seat straight from an ad, because the admission is won or lost in the call, the campus visit and the follow-up that come after it. PromotEdge runs ads, programme pages and WhatsApp follow-up for schools, colleges, universities and coaching institutes as one admissions funnel (the path from the first click to a confirmed seat).

You and we judge it on one thing: enquiries that become enrolled students. We have worked with institutes across India since 2015.

We count three costs. Cost per lead (CPL) is what you pay, on average, for one enquiry. Cost per application and cost per enrolment work the same way. The last matters most: a cheap lead who never picks up is not cheap.

The admission calendar, print and claim rules are on our education marketing page. Our general method is on the digital marketing page.

The basics

11 items

For schools, colleges and institutes

6 items
  • No "100% placement" style claims in adsASCI education guidelines, clause 4.
  • Campus photos that show what exists todayASCI clause 5(c): infrastructure visuals must be real and existing.
  • Real dates instead of "last few seats"ASCI clause 8, and the CCPA's 2024 coaching guidelines.
  • An opt-in on every enquiry formWhatsApp Business policy: message only people who opted in.
  • A parent's consent where a child's data is usedDPDP Act, 2023: under 18 is a child. Parent's verifiable consent.
  • A landing page for each programmeGood practice: eligibility, duration, next intake and one short form.

/ 04 What usually gets in the way

What gets in the wayand the way through.

“Our lead ads bring hundreds of forms. Most numbers never pick up.”

Add a question a serious family can answer, such as course and intake year. Then judge each Meta ad on connected calls, not forms.

“Every course sends people to the same home page.”

Build one landing page per programme, with eligibility, intake date and one short form.

“An agency sold us a list of student numbers. Now our WhatsApp number is limited.”

Build your WhatsApp list from your own enquiries, with a clear opt-in. WhatsApp's policy lets you message only people who agreed.

“Our ads say "last few seats" all season.”

Use real dates instead: the last date to apply, the batch start. The CCPA (Central Consumer Protection Authority) targets false urgency in coaching ads. Our ad copy follows that.

“Our counsellors say the leads are poor. Marketing says nobody calls them.”

Keep one record. A CRM (software that tracks every enquiry) gives each enquiry an owner, a status and a reminder.

Our beliefWe believe in process. Good results should repeat, not happen by luck.

/ 06 How we work

From the first adto a confirmed seat.

  1. 01

Put a value on a seat, then test small

We agree a target cost per enrolment for each programme first. We start with two or three programmes on a small budget. We read two weeks of results, then scale what works. That is how our performance marketing runs.

  2. 02

Search and lead ads by course and city

Google search ads catch families already looking. Following ASCI (the Advertising Standards Council of India), the ads make no "100% placement" style claims.

  3. 03

A landing page and a fast call

Each enquiry reaches that course's counsellor at once, and we track time to first call. Our job is to impress your customers, not you. Our CRO (conversion rate optimisation) work tests the page on phones.

  4. 04

    WhatsApp counselling, with consent

With a clear opt-in on the form, a counsellor or a chatbot answers common questions. Every message offers a way to stop.

  5. 05

Retarget the families who are still deciding, then cut weekly

Retargeting means showing ads again to people who visited your site. We cap how often, remove anyone who enrolled, and aim at parents and adults only.

Education ads have their own advertising rules. A counsellor's quick call-back decides more admissions than an extra ad.

Education digital marketing in depth

The rules that matter

ASCI's education guidelines bar "100%" claims on abstract things, such as 100% placement. They want infrastructure visuals to be real and existing. They also bar a false sense of urgency that could worry school students or parents. The CCPA's November 2024 coaching guidelines target false urgency, such as implying limited seats.

How buyers decide

Our view: parents ask friends and teachers, search the course and city, compare fees, then visit. Students over 18 also ask seniors on Instagram. Families drop out when nobody calls back the same day. They also drop out when a page hides the fee and the intake date.

What you can do, and what is not ours

You can name one counsellor for each course, keep dates and fees current, and call back the same day. Admissions, results and scores belong to your institute, and we promise none of them. Recognition and affiliation are not ours to give.

How we would deliver, and why each step

We agree a target cost per enrolment first, because a lead count can mislead. We start with two or three programmes, because a small test costs little. We link every ad to a counsellor record, because only that shows who joined.

Bodies to know

UGC: the University Grants Commission (UGC) calls itself a statutory organisation of the Government of India. It sets quality benchmarks for universities.

ASCI: an independent, voluntary self-regulatory organisation for advertising. It has guidelines for education ads and a complaint process.

/ 07 Cost

What affects the cost of digital marketing for education.

We don't publish a price list. Ad spend is billed at actuals.

What affects the cost

  • Programmes and campuses. Each needs its own campaigns and landing page.
  • Your intake pattern. One season a year, or new batches every month.

How we quote

  1. A free 30-minute strategist call
  2. We look at your ads, pages and call-back, then send a one-page plan
  3. A written quote follows within 2 working days. Nothing runs until you approve it

What you get in the quote

  • Campaigns by programme and city
  • The weekly report to enrolment

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
Season campaignOne intake window, set-up included (timeline confirmed in the quote)
Monthly retainerAds, pages and reporting (minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop)
/ 08 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Brands and people are named only as public examples. They are not PromotEdge clients or endorsers unless stated.

Straight answers.

  • Yes, mostly in who you talk to. Schools win parents who live nearby, so ads to parents and campus visits do most of the work. Colleges recruit across states, so search ads by course matter more. Coaching institutes run on batch dates and demo classes. Study-abroad consultants and edtech platforms sell online first.

  • Within minutes if you can, while the family still has your page open. TRAI (the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) changed its rules in September 2026. A business may contact someone on the basis of their enquiry for only seven days. It must also keep the enquiry on record. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • Take care. Under the DPDP (Digital Personal Data Protection) Act, 2023, anyone under 18 is a child. A business needs a parent's verifiable consent, and must not track children or aim targeted ads at them. Meta said in 2023 that advertisers can reach teens only by age and location. So we aim ads at parents. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • It depends on how many programmes and campuses you recruit for. We don't publish a price list. After a free 30-minute call we send a one-page plan. A written quote follows within 2 working days. We confirm the timeline for our own work in the quote.

  • We won't claim to be the right agency for everyone. Ask every agency, us included, four questions. What cost per enrolment will you aim for, and how will you show it? How will enquiries reach our counsellors, and how fast? What will you cut each week? Will you check our ad claims against the ASCI and CCPA rules?
