Brand activation for consumer brands that want shoppers to try the product. A product tried in the hand sells better, but only if someone counts what happens next.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
An activation is worth its cost only if somebody can say how many trials turned into leads. PromotEdge, a marketing company, runs mall, society and college activations, plus sampling, so each one brings trials, leads and then sales.
Too often the agency sends 200 photos and a box of paper slips, and nobody can say what sold.
BTL (below the line) marketing means meeting buyers face to face, where they can try the product. In India that works because buying is physical and social. Our job is to impress those shoppers, not you.
It suits B2C (selling to consumers) and D2C (direct to customers online) brands that are launching or pushing trials, from startups to listed companies. Want us to plan yours? Ask for a free activation plan.
Kiosks of about 10 × 10 ft up to atrium stages, with 3 to 6 promoters a shift. Booked with the mall's marketing team, mostly on weekends, festive days and sale periods.
Households decide together. A canopy near the clubhouse, 2 to 3 promoters and a product expert, with written RWA (residents' welfare association) approval. Small crowds, high intent.
Young buyers early. Stalls at fests, induction weeks and hostel blocks for apps, banking and youth brands, plus education brands, timed to the academic calendar.
Many neighbourhoods fast. A branded van on a planned route with GPS-tracked halts, for a city launch or a two-wheeler or car test-ride drive. Permissions come first; rules vary by city and state. General guidance, not legal advice. For villages, see rural marketing.
Taste, touch or try in stores, offices, gyms, markets or door to door, each sample logged against a name and number.
The engagement idea, stall, standees and lead-capture kit, built before day one, with local-language promoters trained on the script. Fabrication and crews are delivered within the PromotEdge group.
Tablet forms, QR codes and click-to-WhatsApp, with consent. Leads reach your CRM, a sheet or the dealer the same day.
Evening reports by site and shift, geo-tagged photos and surprise audits, so a weak site changes the next day.
“Our promoters stand around and nobody stops at the stall.”
Footfall is not stopping power. We design a two-minute hook first, a demonstration, game or trial, and train promoters to open the conversation in the local language.
“We got a box of paper slips, and half the phone numbers were wrong.”
Leads go onto a tablet form, a location-coded QR code or click-to-WhatsApp, with consent recorded. Bad numbers show up that evening.
“The agency's report had 200 photos and no numbers.”
You still get photos, but the report leads with contacts, trials, leads and cost per lead, by site and day.
“We booked a famous mall and the wrong people walked past.”
We choose venues by who visits them. Ten societies in the right pin codes, or a mid-size mall near your dealer, often beat a flagship atrium.
“Leads from the activation never reached our dealers.”
Each lead is routed by pin code to the nearest dealer or your sales team the same day, with a WhatsApp reply to the visitor. We call back a sample to check.
“Two of our five sites had no crew on Sunday.”
Each site has a supervisor, a time-stamped check-in photo and surprise visits from outside the crew. Gaps are reported the same day.
“We can't tell if the activation sold anything.”
Offer codes, campaign-only numbers and dealer records link sales to the activation where data allows. For bigger runs, we compare covered areas with similar ones we didn't touch.

We can't do magic alone: the faster you share dealer lists, approvals and stock, the sooner day one arrives. One city needs three to four weeks from brief; several need longer, for permissions and crew training. Unsure where to start? Talk to us.
Trials, demonstrations, leads or sales by city and day. This decides the format and the crew size.
Venues shortlisted by audience, then booked with the mall, RWA, college or local authority. Every permission in writing.
A demonstration, challenge or experience that carries your campaign, tested before day one.
Local-language promoters and a supervisor per site, with a dry run before the first live day.
Morning check-in photos, targets by shift and an evening report. A site that lags for two days is replaced.
Leads reach sales or the dealer the same day; if dealers can't call back within a day or two, we say so and fix that first. Cost per lead by venue shows what to repeat.

Mahindra held its third Thar Fest in Kochi on 10 March 2019: a Thar parade, a 4x4 experience zone and a club challenge among 11 off-road clubs, as its press release of 11 March 2019 describes. An owners' day built around the product, not a banner.

Hindustan Lever launched Lifebuoy Swasthya Chetna in 2002, a five-year health and hygiene education programme in eight Indian states, aimed at about 200 million people, per an IBS case summary. It set out to challenge the belief that visibly clean means hygienically clean.

D2C (direct to consumer): sampling that ends in a QR code to your site or a quick-commerce listing.
Dealer-led B2B: demonstrations for dealers and buyers, often at a trade show. See industrial makers.
Homes and health: a real estate project books site visits from society stalls; a diagnostic centre meets families at a health-check camp.
Local social media announces the stall, local creators take the crowd online, and performance ads and WhatsApp reach people who scanned the code.

Zoho CRM's Zia can rank leads by how likely they are to convert and suggest the best time and mode to contact them, so same-day follow-up reaches the warmest leads first. Adobe Firefly can draft mood boards and storyboards for a first stall idea. Both draft or rank; people still stand at the stall.

Not sure whether a society, a campus or a van suits your buyers? We will think it through with you. Talk to us
Contractors trust the machine their peers run on site more than any brochure.
02The person who pays for the cement is rarely the one who picks the brand.
03Procurement checks you out long before your sales team is invited to talk.
04A buyer's interest fades fast when the enquiry reaches the right showroom late.
05Enquiries are easy to buy, but the sale is won or lost at the site visit.
06Your ad works for a rival if your product is missing from the shelf.
Change is the only constant.
Every activation is costed line by line, so you see what a lead is likely to cost before you approve.
To compare two quotes fairly, check that both include the same crew hours, venue fees and daily reporting.
For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.
In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.
A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.
If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.
We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Five things set the cost: the venue fee, the number of locations and days, the crew, the stall or vehicle build, and sampling stock. A mall atrium on a festive weekend costs far more than a clubhouse.
Judge an agency by how it works. Ask who hires and supervises the crew, how each lead is captured with consent, how fast leads reach your sales team, and what the daily report shows. Ask to see a real report with leads and cost per lead.
Three to four weeks for one city, longer for several. Mall slots on festive weekends and college fests go early, permissions take time, and the crew must be trained before day one. For a launch, start as soon as the date is fixed.
Yes. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and planning, crew training and reporting work the same wherever the venue is. We meet you in your city at least every three months. Our in-house team of 65+ people does the work, with consultants and partner agencies.
At the stall, on a promoter's tablet form, a location-coded QR code or click-to-WhatsApp. Each lead records name, phone, location, interest and consent, as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 expects. It reaches your CRM or the nearest dealer the same day.
Start where your buyers already spend their time: households in societies, young buyers on campus, many neighbourhoods by van. A healthcare brand such as a diagnostic chain often starts in societies. Whichever you pick, test it small first: five or six societies, two or three campuses, or one route for a few days.
A mall approves layout and timings; a housing society needs written RWA or committee approval. Public places need the municipal body and the police, and loudspeakers are restricted at night under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000. Branded vehicles may need transport-department approval. General guidance, not legal advice.
Against targets set before it starts: contacts, trials, leads and cost per lead. You get numbers every evening, and cost per qualified lead by venue each month. Sales are traced through offer codes, campaign-only numbers or dealer records. Ask for examples in your category at the briefing stage; we share relevant work when we talk.
