Amritsar,a city that opened with 32 shops
A hotel near Gobindgarh Fort and a trader who supplies shops across Punjab need different customers, so they need different plans. PromotEdge plans search, ads, websites, papers and radio for both. You see what each rupee brought back.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
A city that began with traders.Plan for today's buyers.
No single channel reaches all of Amritsar. City shopkeepers, villagers in the blocks around and guests arriving by train, road or air each look for a business in a different way.
As a digital marketing agency for Amritsar, PromotEdge plans search, ads, websites, social media, newspapers and radio for businesses that sell in the city and the villages around it. We judge the work by the enquiries and sales it brings.
Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and most of the work runs online, in hybrid mode. We speak every day, and we visit Amritsar at least once every three months.
Before we suggest any media, we ask how many enquiries you get in a month, where they come from and how many end in a sale. What can't be measured can't be achieved. A hotel near Gobindgarh Fort and a trader who supplies shops across Punjab will answer very differently. So we test small, read the results and grow only what works. One team can plan strategy, advertising, digital marketing and BTL (below the line: stalls, events and shop branding).
- 2015working with Indian brands since
- 65+in-house team: strategy, creative, media and tech
- 4pillars under one roof: strategy, advertising, digital, on-ground activation (BTL)
- 6cities: head office in Kolkata, teams in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Guwahati and Bhubaneswar
Amritsar:what we do.
Three things that shape an Amritsar budget.
These facts decide where we would put your first rupee.
1. Five landmarks on the state's list, and the distances to reach them. Punjab Tourism's list of iconic attractions names the Partition Museum, Gobindgarh Fort, Durgiana Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and Heritage Street. The district pages put Gobindgarh Fort and Durgiana Temple 700 m from the railway station and 1.5 km from the bus stand. Harmandir Sahib and Jallianwala Bagh are 2 km from the station and 1.7 km from the bus stand. The airport is 11 km from the Fort and the temple, and 13 km from the other two. A hotel, restaurant or travel desk near the Fort can tell a guest “700 m from the railway station”, which says more than “centrally located”. Think creative. Act on numbers. Start at hospitality, restaurants or travel and tourism. We keep Harmandir Sahib and Jallianwala Bagh out of ad ideas, and the last question below says why.
The city's history, the languages and phones, the border drill, the airport and the winter season, with sources.
The Amritsar market in depth
The district website says Guru Ramdass ji, the fourth guru of the Sikhs, founded Amritsar in about 1574, on land that was forest and lakes. It says he invited 52 traders, who opened the first 32 shops in the city. The SGPC, the committee that runs Harmandir Sahib, lists a Municipal Committee from 1858 and a train service to Lahore from 1862 on its city page. Today the India-Pakistan border runs between Amritsar and Lahore, at Attari-Wagah. The 2011 Census counted 24,90,656 people in the district, over 2,683 sq km. So one plan must reach city shopkeepers, villagers in blocks (rural development units) such as Majitha and Ajnala, and guests who arrive by train, road or air.
2. Three languages, and a phone in most hands. The district site lists Punjabi, Hindi and English as its languages. TRAI, the telecom regulator, put Punjab at 95.30 internet subscribers for every 100 people in March 2026, against 76.59 for all India. That is a state figure, not Amritsar alone. So phones and search carry most plans, with print and radio bought on purpose. The table below has the papers and radio stations on the official records.
3. A border drill every evening, a smaller airport, and a winter visiting season. The district site says the Beating the Retreat ceremony is held daily in the evening at the Attari-Wagah border. Soldiers of both countries go through drill as the flags come down. It is 6 km from Attari railway station, and Punjab Tourism lists it at about 30 km from the city. For a tour desk or a taxi firm, that is one fixed daily trip to describe on a listing. Its format can change, so check with the Border Security Force before you plan around it. Sri Guru Ramdass International Airport handled 29,41,017 passengers in the year to March 2026, down 17.0% from 35,42,880. Of those, 9,97,408 were international, down 13.5%. So we would not budget for a rising flow. The Punjab government's own page gives October to the end of March as the time to visit the state. So the winter season starts in October.
Hoarding rules. On 4 October 2026 the Municipal Corporation's homepage showed notices, tenders and a citizen charter, and no advertisement or hoarding rules. The state Local Government page lists no outdoor policy. It does list draft Punjab Unified Building Rules, 2025, posted on 24 July 2025, but nothing we read says they cover signs. General guidance, not legal advice.
Our beliefWe can't do magic alone. The more involved you are, the faster you see results.
Do your buyers come from the city, the villages around or other states? Tell us, and we'll say where we would start. Tell us who buys
Radio, papers and places. Then the work we would plan.
Amritsar has four private FM stations and one Hindi daily on the newspaper sales list. Hotels and cafes can name a nearby landmark, such as the Partition Museum, on their Google listing. Pages should give real distances to it.
See the numbers and sources
| What | In Amritsar | What it means for your plan |
|---|---|---|
| Private FM radio | Four stations on the government's list of 30 March 2026, at 92.7, 93.5, 94.3 and 104.8 MHz. | Short spots in the week before an offer ends. See radio advertising. |
| Akashvani (All India Radio) | The government's rate card from June 2017 has no Amritsar line. Its Punjab lines include Jalandhar, Bhatinda, Patiala and Vividh Bharati Ludhiana. | So there is no Amritsar rate to quote. Ask for the current card first. |
| Newspapers | The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), which checks newspaper sales, lists Dainik Jagran, in Hindi, as its one Amritsar edition. | A paper missing from the list may still print here, so ask each one for its reach. See newspaper advertising. |
| Heritage Street | A stretch of about 1 km with lamp-posts, statues and fountains “inspired by Mughal, Rajputana and Sikh architecture”, linking several landmarks. | A shop or café on the stretch can name the street itself on its Google listing. |
| Gobindgarh Fort | 43 acres on the Grand Trunk Road, with “over 300 years” of history by the district site, being restored in phases. It sits 700 m from the railway station. | A large central site. Ask the Fort's management what it allows before you plan a stall or a shoot. |
| Partition Museum | In the Town Hall building, a 5 to 7 minute walk from the Golden Temple, with seven galleries. TAACHT, the Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust, runs it. Its own site shows it closed on Mondays. | A nearby guesthouse can name the museum as a landmark on its listing. |
| Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum | In Ram Bagh Garden, in what the district site calls the summer palace of the first king of the Sikh Empire. It became a museum in 1977. | A listing near Ram Bagh can name the garden and the museum. |
| Service: SEO | Hotels, restaurants and travel desks that want to be found by people planning a trip to the five places on the state's list. | SEO (search engine optimisation: showing up on Google without paying per click) starts with listings and pages that give real distances. Our language partners write English and Hindi. Punjabi needs a partner's yes first. |
Checked on 4 October 2026 from the sources named above. Distances are as printed on the district pages. The service row is our plan, not a promised result.
What affects the cost of marketing in Amritsar.
There is no PromotEdge price list online: after a first 30-minute call with one of our strategists, we write the scope down and quote against it. Media, venues, printing and travel are passed on at actual cost, each on its own line.
How we quote
- A call about your goal, last quarter's enquiries and who your buyers are.
- We check how a guest or a Punjab buyer finds you today.
- A written quote within 2 working days of the first call, with every cost on its own line. Nothing is booked before you say yes.
What you get in the quote
- Each language version, listed apart
- Paper and FM rates, as the media quote them
- Hoarding or stall terms in writing before any payment
- Google and Meta ad spend, billed separately
How it is billed
| Way of working | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | Search, ads and social media work, reviewed each month; minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop |
| Fixed project | A website or one season's campaign with a written scope; timeline confirmed in the quote (a website is usually 4 to 6 weeks) |
Put quotes side by side, and ask what GST, ad spend and travel add.

Our servicing team is based in cities across India. Most of your work runs online, in hybrid mode, and we come to Amritsar to meet you.
Meeting you. We come to Amritsar at least once every three months, to your hotel, shop or office. For some clients, a team member works from the client's own office or plant.
The online work, the media we book, stalls and signs, languages, and what changes the cost.
How we work in Amritsar
Online, papers and radio. We run your search, ads, website and social media online. The ad accounts are opened in your company's name, so you keep them. We book Dainik Jagran or any paper your buyers read, and the FM stations.
Stalls, events and signs. A stall or a sign near Heritage Street or the Fort is delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy. Printing is handled through the same partner.
Languages. Through our language partners we create content in English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and more, and our team checks it. The district site lists Punjabi first among Amritsar's languages, but Punjabi is not on our confirmed list. If your buyers need it, tell us early and we confirm whether a partner can take it on.
What changes the cost:
- Amritsar alone, or the villages of its ten blocks too
- Dainik Jagran and the four FM stations, or online only
- English and Hindi versions, with Punjabi only if a partner confirms
- Guests from other states, or buyers who live in Punjab

No honest agency can put itself first. Ask each one for a sample monthly report with the client's name hidden. Ask whose name the ad accounts will be in, and for media costs on a line apart from the fee. Then ask how it would describe your business to a trip planner and to a local trader.

The district site lists all three. Many plans use two, chosen by who is buying. For Punjabi, tell us early and we confirm whether a partner can take it on. Tell us who your buyers are, and we suggest which two to start with.
-
Yes, with the same team. The district has 750 villages in 10 blocks: Ajnala, Attari, Chogawan, Harsha China, Jandiala Guru, Majitha, Rayya, Tarsika, Verka and Ramdas. A village buyer's first contact is often a call or a visit, so a web form is not enough. We add call and WhatsApp buttons and count the calls. See rural marketing.
-
Maybe. We found no published hoarding rules for Amritsar. The Municipal Corporation's homepage on 4 October 2026 showed none, and nothing we read in the state's draft building rules covers signs. So before you pay for any site, we write to the Corporation and wait for its answer. General guidance, not legal advice.

We advise against it. Harmandir Sahib is a living place of worship, run by the SGPC since the Sikh Gurdwara Act of 1925. We keep it, the langar (the free community kitchen) and the Jallianwala Bagh memorial out of ads. A nearby hotel or restaurant can say how far it is, from the station, and let guests decide.
