/ 01 Digital marketing agency in Chennai

Factories, ports and Tamil shop boards. Two kinds of buyer, two kinds of plan.

A Chennai budget works hardest when it follows the buyer's language, not the channel. PromotEdge plans and runs search, Google and Meta ads, websites, Tamil and English media and trade-show work for Chennai companies, so each rupee traces to an enquiry.

Chennai has two markets side by side, the maker and the shop.

The maker is, for example, a parts supplier near Sriperumbudur or an IT firm on OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road). Makers sell to engineers who read every spec sheet. The shop, clinic or builder sells to families, who decide in Tamil, often near a festival. Here is what we usually see: most firms sit mainly in one market, and the plan follows.

Whether you want a digital marketing agency or a digital marketing company in Chennai, start with your last three months of enquiries. Do not start with a channel. What can't be measured can't be achieved.

The seven types of digital marketing are SEO, search ads, social ads, social posting, content, email and WhatsApp, and influencer work. A parts maker usually leans on SEO, search ads and English pages; a Tamil shop on Meta ads, posts and WhatsApp.

One team handles strategy, digital marketing, advertising and BTL (below the line: stalls, events, shop branding).

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A dealer-led B2B (business-to-business) maker leans on search, an English site and trade shows. A D2C (direct-to-consumer) brand needs Meta ads and Tamil content. A franchise needs a Google listing per outlet. An exporter needs English product pages.

  1. Read your last three months of enquiries. They show which Chennai you serve, makers or families. A one-page read of your channels.
  2. Plan by buyer, then by channel. An engineer on OMR and a family in T. Nagar are reached in different places. A channel plan with Tamil and English marked.
  3. Write in the buyer's language. Tamil copy that a native reader has checked reads like a local, not a translation. Versions checked by a native reader.
  4. Show every media rate first. Media is billed at actuals, so you decide with the number in front of you. A rate sheet before you say yes.
  5. Report by channel, area and language. Cost per lead (what one enquiry cost on average) shows what to stop and what to grow. A monthly report.

Go deeper: Chennai's economy and its companies

Local economy: top industries

Invest India calls Tamil Nadu India's largest exporter of electronics and lists cars and electric mobility as a focus sector (its own claims). IBEF says the state made 33.64% of India's textile exports in FY26, worth Rs 46,670 crore.

IT and ITES give about 6,61,000 direct jobs (Invest India), and the state had 14,830+ DPIIT-recognised startups in March 2026.

Source: Invest India and IBEF state pages, checked 10 October 2026; Inc42, FY26

Local economy: companies with a base here

Hyundai builds cars for export at SIPCOT Irungattukottai, and BMW has built cars at Mahindra World City since 2007. TVS Motor's registered office is in Nungambakkam. MRF says it is headquartered in Chennai.

Cholamandalam Investment and Finance has its corporate office in Guindy and says it was formed in 1978 as the Murugappa Group's financial arm.

Zoho lists an India office at Estancia IT Park, Chengalpattu district; its page does not call it the headquarters. The Murugappa Group's site lists Chola, Carborundum Universal, Coromandel International and Tube Investments among its companies, and Wikipedia gives Chennai as its headquarters.

Source: Each company's own site, checked 10 October 2026; the Murugappa headquarters line is as per Wikipedia (secondary)

Chambers

The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, founded in 1836, calls itself the oldest in South India. The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the other regional chamber.

AI in Chennai marketing: today and next

Today

Google's help page says the Gemini web app works in more than 70 languages, and Tamil is on the list. That helps with first drafts for a Tamil and English market.

Source: Google Gemini Apps Help, read 10 October 2026

Limits and next

A draft still needs a native reader, because tone and local words are easy to get wrong. Our view: AI will make drafts and reports faster, but knowing your buyer still decides the plan. Want us to look at yours? Ask us.

/ 03 The Chennai market

Three facts any digital marketing company in Chennai should plan around.

A fast-growing maker state, a Tamil-first city and a festival season about to begin.

1. A maker economy growing quickly. PRS Legislative Research estimates Tamil Nadu's economy grew 11% in real terms in 2025-26, against 8% for India. Manufacturing was about 34% of its output.

Goods exports reached $59.3 billion in FY26, the fastest growth of any state. Kancheepuram district, home to Sriperumbudur, ranked second among exporting districts ($26.4 billion). Many buyers are firms, often abroad, and your website is where they meet you first.

2. Tamil first, English close behind, and almost everyone online. About 78% of people in the old city named Tamil as their mother tongue. Telugu, Urdu, Hindi and Malayalam came next (Census 2011, as reported). Tamil is the official language, English an additional one.

TRAI, the telecom regulator, counted 67.73 million internet subscribers in Tamil Nadu, Chennai included, in March 2026. That is 87.33 for every 100 people, and 65.93 million of them are on broadband. A family may search in Tamil and a founder in English; we plan for both.

3. The big season starts this month. Pongal (15 to 17 January) and Vinayagar Chathurthi (14 September) are past. Next come Ayudha Pooja on 19 October, Vijayadasami on 20 October and Deepavali on 8 November.

Margazhi, the December music month, follows. Then come the Chennai Marathon (3 January) and the 50th Book Fair (7 to 19 January 2027). Shops spend most from Ayudha Pooja to Pongal; makers follow trade shows.

Selling in Chennai?

Send us three months of enquiries. We'll show where they came from.

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • It depends on which of the seven types you use, whether you need Tamil, English or both, and your ad spend. We quote in writing, with ad spend apart from our fee. A monthly retainer has a 3-month minimum, then 30 days' notice.

  • We serve Chennai through a servicing team based in cities across India, working hybrid and remotely. We talk daily and meet you in Chennai at least once every three months. When a job needs it, our team works at your site.

  • We won't call ourselves that, and be careful with any agency that does. Ask each one for a real monthly report and the name of who does your work. Ask for ad spend billed apart, accounts in your name, and a checked Tamil version.

  • Yes. We plan the city and its industrial belts from here, each as its own ad target area. The city grew from 174 to 426 sq km in 2011, so many "suburbs" now sit inside Chennai. Tell us your pin codes and we will target them.

  • It depends on who buys. For families and shops, Tamil usually comes first: about 78% of the old city named it as mother tongue (Census 2011, as reported). Engineers and exporters often read English. We test both on a small budget first.

  • Not for online ads. Ayudha Pooja is on 19 October and Deepavali on 8 November 2026. Search and social ads go live within days, but paper and outdoor slots are filling now. For Pongal 2027, start by early December. Tell us your dates and budget, and we will say what still fits.

  • Yes. Tamil must come first and be the largest, then English, then any other language, in a 5:3:2 letter size. The fine is Rs 2,000, and the court's final deadline is 1 November 2026. General guidance, not legal advice. We check your logo and signs against the rule.

  • A monthly report counts enquiries by channel, area and language, with cost per lead: what one enquiry cost on average. Then we say plainly what to stop and what to grow. If a channel brings nothing, we say so in the first report, not the sixth.
