Go-to-market strategy for brands and manufacturers entering a new city, state or category. Launch with a plan sales can run on day one.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
A launch date is easy to fix. The hard part is deciding who buys first, which dealers carry stock and who answers the enquiries.
PromotEdge is a go-to-market strategy consulting team, and a marketing company, that settles that order before the money is spent, so the launch brings enquiries and orders.
Most Indian launches don't fail on the product. They fail on order. The newspaper ad runs before the dealer has stock. The Google campaign brings enquiries from a city with no salesperson.
A go-to-market (GTM) plan fixes that order: who buys first, what they are promised, how the price shows, who carries stock, who answers enquiries. It builds on a clear brand position and is part of our strategy work.
Search demand by state and city, rivals' presence and price bands, dealer density and what your own enquiries say.
The first segment, city and channel to win, and what is deliberately left for phase two.
What the product promises this buyer, and how the price shows: MRP, dealer margin, EMI, launch schemes or “price on request”.
Distributors, dealers, marketplaces, direct sales and institutions, with the margin and support each one needs.
Product sheets, price lists, counter display, sample stock and WhatsApp-ready creatives, ready before the first dealer meet.
Week by week, from trade announcement to customer launch, across mainline, digital and on-ground, timed against stock.
Lead routing by city, reply-time targets, scripts, and early numbers agreed before launch and read together every week.
What Indian buyers doubt about a new foreign name, where to start and how to earn dealer trust.
“We have a launch date, but no plan beyond the press release.”
Work backwards from the date: trade briefing, stock in outlets, search and social ready, sales scripts written, then the public launch. We build that calendar week by week.
“Our budget can't cover every state at once.”
It shouldn't try to. Pick a beachhead: the first city, segment and channel to win. Spreading launch money across India is the commonest way to waste it.
“Dealers in the new city already push a rival brand.”
Give the dealer a reason to switch: margin, credit, schemes, samples and proof that buyers will ask for you. The trade plan comes before the consumer plan.
“We can't decide between launching online or through the trade.”
It depends on where your buyer looks and who carries the stock risk. Set clear rules for marketplace and direct prices, so going online doesn't undercut your dealers.
“Enquiries come in, but nobody in that city follows up.”
Lead routing is part of the plan: who gets each enquiry, how fast they reply, and a weekly check of what happened next.
“We're creating a new category, and buyers don't know they need it.”
A new category needs teaching before selling. Explainers, demos and proof from first users come first, and offers later.
“Can you plan a launch in our state?”
Yes. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and we stay in touch every day. We meet you in your state at least once every three months. Our team and partners come to you.
Launching something? Tell us the product, the first city and the date, and we will sketch the order. Get a free growth plan
Start when the product, the rough price and the first market are known, before the trade is told. A new product, a new city and a new category need different first moves, and a new product in a new state is two problems.
Search demand by state and city, rival price bands and the enquiry data you already have.
The first segment, city and channel to win. What waits for phase two is written down, so nobody quietly adds it back.
What the product promises this buyer, how the price is shown and the launch offer, if there is one.
Distributors appointed, dealer terms agreed, marketplace listings ready, and a launch kit in every partner's hands.
Trade first, then the public, timed against stock, sales readiness and the local festival calendar.
Lead routing, reply-time targets and scripts go live. We believe in process: a good launch should repeat, not happen by luck.
Tell us what’s not working. We’ll send you an honest one-page growth plan, free.
A machine range for industrial buyers leads with demos and the dealer meet. A new branch for a diagnostic centre leads with local search and referrals. A housing project opens bookings with site visits. A D2C (direct to customers online) brand, or a seller on marketplaces and quick commerce, launches by pin code, because stock and ranking are local.
A brand well known in West Bengal can be a stranger in Odisha or Assam. Buyers, dealers, media habits, rivals and language all change. So we plan regional entry from the trade outwards, and set the date around the state's biggest festival, not against it.
Autocar Professional recalled that the Maruti 800 launched in December 1983. The first car from the Gurgaon plant went to Harpal Singh, a Delhi-based Indian Airlines employee, with the keys handed over by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Long waiting periods did not put buyers off, and the piece remembers the Maruti service centres for their process.

Google describes Gemini Deep Research as a personal research assistant that writes up almost any subject. For a new state, it can gather rival price pages, dealer sites and local news in one afternoon. It cannot tell you whether a dealer wants your brand. Only a call does.

Our view: desk research and first-draft launch calendars will get faster. Choosing the beachhead and winning the dealer stay human work. Want us to check where AI could shorten your launch plan? Ask us.

Contractors trust the machine their peers run on site more than any brochure.
02The person who pays for the cement is rarely the one who picks the brand.
03Procurement checks you out long before your sales team is invited to talk.
04A buyer's interest fades fast when the enquiry reaches the right showroom late.
05Enquiries are easy to buy, but the sale is won or lost at the site visit.
06Your ad works for a rival if your product is missing from the shelf.
We don't publish a price list. Writing the plan and running the launch are quoted separately, so you can buy one without the other.
To compare quotes fairly, check whether each one covers only the plan or the launch as well.
For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.
In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.
A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.
If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.
We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Anish Basu MallikMarketing Executive at Unimark GroupThey plan how a new product, city or category reaches its first buyers: who to target first, the promise, price signals, dealers, the launch calendar and the handover to sales. To choose one, ask whether they have launched in a market like yours, and whether they quote plan and launch separately.
A marketing plan covers a year of activity for products and markets you already serve. A go-to-market strategy covers one move into something new, and adds distributor appointment, price signals, launch sequence and the handover to sales. The go-to-market plan comes first, and the marketing plan follows from it.
As soon as the product, the rough price and the first territory are known, and before the trade is told. The plan often changes the order of things. If the product still changes every month, it is too early; start with buyer conversations and small tests.
It is priced by the work covered: products, states, channels and research needed. Running the launch is quoted separately from the plan. We do not set your price, which depends on your costs and margins. We work on price signals: how the price is shown, the launch offer and the dealer margin story.
Usually, at least for the trade and local media. Dealers forward what they can read and what their customers trust. English can be enough for some B2B buyers, but the dealer brochure and WhatsApp creative generally work harder in the local language.
Either. Our advertising, digital and BTL (below the line, meaning on-ground) teams can run the launch to the plan, with one lead accountable for the numbers. Or we hand the plan to your team and agencies and stay available to review progress.
Against targets agreed before launch: dealers appointed, enquiries by district and cost per lead (what you pay, on average, for one enquiry), plus trials, first reorders and branded search. Tracking is set up first. Marketing and sales read the numbers together every week.
Yes. Buying cycles are longer, several people sign off, and trade shows and technical proof matter more than mass reach. So the plan starts with the dealer or distributor meet, a demo and a clear sales handover, and reaches the wider market after that.
