/ 01 Solar marketing agency

Bought once, used for 25 years. So trust closes the sale.

A solar system is bought once and lived with for decades, so every buyer is really asking if you will still answer their call in year ten. PromotEdge markets solar for rooftop installers, EPC firms, and makers of panels, inverters and batteries.

The aim is that more of your enquiries turn into site surveys and, in the end, installs.

MNRE (the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) notes that solar plants are generally set up for 25 years. Each kind of buyer tests that trust in their own way. So our digital marketing for solar companies never runs one plan for all.

We have been at this since 2015. We look at your business first and marketing second. Then we test small, read the numbers and scale what brings installs, and we never copy a competitor's plan.

Selling home inverters and batteries too? See electricals and appliances.

/ 02 What usually gets in the way

What gets in the wayand the way through.

“Our ads bring hundreds of enquiries, but most are tenants or tiny bills.”

Score each lead by roof owner and monthly units, then check the pincode, so surveyors visit real roofs. The subsidy portal itself pairs 0-150 units with 1-2 kW. See lead generation.

“Rivals shout 'free electricity', so our honest ad looks costly.”

Show the buyer's cost after the subsidy, and the savings on their own bill. It reads slower and closes better.

This is mine

“Surveys get booked, then families stop answering.”

Send the surveyor's name before the visit, then a clear quote and an update at each step on WhatsApp. A CRM (one place for every enquiry) gives each family an owner.

This is mine

“Buyers ask if we'll still be around when the warranty is needed.”

Show your service record and warranty terms on every page and quote. Reply to every review with reputation management, and buyers trust you before they call.

/ 04 Order to start

Homes, factories, dealers:one team, three plans.

StepWhat we doWhy
1. StrategySplit your business into homes, societies, C&I and dealers. Start with one group and one area for 90 days. Each group has its own deal size and sales cycle.
2. Local searchA Google Business Profile for each area, with reviews. SEO (search engine optimisation) for 'solar installer near me', plus AI answers.Home buyers search nearby, then read reviews.
3. Lead ads and pagesSolar lead generation runs on Meta and Google ads that lead to a bill-based savings calculator. We judge them on cost per survey.Cheap leads that never become surveys cost more.
4. WhatsApp, CRM, reportsSurvey booking and quote follow-up, plus subsidy-step updates, logged in a CRM (customer relationship management system). Reports run from enquiry to cost per install.Buyers drop out when they hear nothing.

Module makers lean on installers and dealer meets, then on exhibitions with installation videos. Stalls and on-ground work are delivered with the same partner.

/ 05 Cost

What affects the cost of marketing a solar business.

No price list. These things move the number.

We don't publish a price list. After a 30-minute strategist call, a written quote follows within 2 working days. Ad spend is paid at actuals, as are stalls and rewards.

What affects the cost

  • Which buyers. Homes, societies, factories or dealers.
  • Areas and languages. How many districts your survey teams cover.
  • Survey capacity. How many site visits a month your team can handle.
  • Extras. Target accounts and installer programmes, and any shows or videos.

How we quote

  1. A 30-minute strategist call about your buyers and areas, and where installs come from
  2. We review your ads, website, reviews and lead call-back speed
  3. A written quote follows within 2 working days. Media and rewards are listed apart

What you get in the quote

  • The first buyer group and area
  • How each lead is scored
  • Ads and pages, plus videos, itemised
  • A monthly report to cost per install

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
Monthly retainerSearch, ads, WhatsApp and content. Minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop
C&I programmeAccount lists and savings cases. We confirm the timeline in the quote
Show or launch projectOne exhibition or launch, run on its own. We confirm the timeline in the quote

Ask every agency how it counts installs, not just leads. Printing is handled through the same partner.

Every client and project is different. The cost depends on the effort it takes, so we price after the first call.

/ 07 AI and automation

Where AI can help Energy and solartoday.

Real business problems, from sales to back office, each with a plain AI fix. A person stays in charge of every step.

sales

Many households know about rooftop solar, but turning that interest into an installation depends on trust, easy finance and a simple process.

The AI fix A WhatsApp assistant answers subsidy questions, estimates system size from a bill photo and chases quiet leads. A surveyor checks the roof and an engineer checks every quote.

customer service

Some customers get wrong bills from meters not set up for solar, wait for state subsidy or do not know how to care for panels.

The AI fix A WhatsApp assistant shows file progress and sends panel-care reminders. For a wrong bill it collects meter and bill photos, and staff raise it with the power company.

The energy and solar market in depth

Market size and trend

India had 162.15 GW (gigawatts) of solar capacity by 30 June 2026. In FY2025-26 it added 44.61 GW, nearly double the 23.83 GW of FY2024-25. Rooftop systems gave 8.7 GW of that, and over 43 lakh homes had rooftop solar by June 2026.

Source: Press Information Bureau (PIB Research), India's Solar Growth Enters a New Era, 2 August 2026

How buyers decide

Our view: a home buyer asks a neighbour who has solar, then compares two or three quotes against the monthly bill. A factory owner asks a peer and wants the payback, meaning the years the savings take to repay the cost, worked out on their own bills. Both drop out when replies are slow or costs look hidden.

What buyers expect

In their words: "Will you still answer in year ten? Is the subsidy real? Who fixes it if it stops?" Few say aloud that they also want a named surveyor, a written warranty and a saving worked out on their own bill. Home buyers expect you to handle the power company's forms too.

How solar businesses here sell

Installers sell rooftop systems to homes and societies, and need portal registration to offer the subsidy. C&I (commercial and industrial) firms sell to factories, which can own the plant or pay for its power. Makers sell through installers and channel partners, the same dealer problem as on our building materials and electricals pages. See our business models guide.

Where it is heading, and AI today and next

PIB says a floating-solar scheme with battery storage was approved on 31 July 2026. The home subsidy scheme runs to FY2026-27, so give buyers a reason beyond it. AI today answers survey questions and drafts savings sheets. AI next may size a system from a bill photo. AI cannot walk the roof or win a family's trust. See our AI systems.

A brand journey worth knowing: Waaree Energies

Waaree grew from an instruments business led by Hitesh Doshi. After a 2007 trade fair in Germany, Bloomberg reports, he turned to solar.

The company says it then built a franchise and channel partner network to reach buyers in remote places. It listed on the stock exchanges in October 2024.

What you can do, and how we would deliver

What you can do, and what is not ours

Roof surveys, design, installation and warranty stay with your engineers, and so do prices and the power company's approvals. Loans come from banks, not from us. Hire in-house when surveys need a daily owner. We take the ads, pages, follow-up and reports.

How we would deliver, and why each step

First a strategy that splits buyers into homes, societies, C&I and dealers, so you start with one group and one area. Then local search, because home buyers look nearby and read reviews. Then lead ads judged on cost per survey. Last WhatsApp follow-up and reports, because buyers drop out when they hear nothing. Saurav Agarwal, our Founder and CEO, takes the strategy call, the business review and the budget and return-on-investment logic. Shivanand Mishra, our Digital Marketing Lead, runs the SEO audits, the B2B (business-to-business) lead generation and the reporting.

The basics

For solar and energy

  • Portal registration and ALMM-listed modulesScheme subsidy needs a portal-registered vendor and modules from the ALMM list. Source: mnre.gov.in.
  • BIS and IEC test certificates for modules and invertersBIS registration is compulsory for PV modules and inverters. Source: bis.gov.in.

  • Project reference listInstalls with size, city and year. Name a client only with permission. CCPA, 2022.
  • Green and savings claims you can proveClaims like 'eco-friendly' need solid proof; a disclaimer cannot soften them. Source: ASCI, 2024.

Subsidy, approved lists and the word 'free'.

Each claim is checked at the source before an ad goes live.

PM Surya Ghar subsidy (pmsuryaghar.gov.in). Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, Rs 18,000 per kW for the next 1 kW, maximum Rs 78,000. Special-category states get 10% more.

Housing societies. Rs 18,000 per kW for common facilities, up to 500 kW.

Getting the subsidy. MNRE's 2024 guidelines need a portal-registered vendor and Indian-made modules and cells. The DISCOM (local power company) inspects. The subsidy is processed within 15 days of approval.

'Muft bijli' is not a free system. The aim is free or low-cost electricity, up to 300 units a month. Registered vendors repair the plant free for five years.

The approved list (ALMM). MNRE's list has List-I for modules and List-II for cells. Only List-I modules may be used in government-backed, open access or net-metering projects.

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). MNRE's 2017 order makes registration compulsory for PV (photovoltaic) modules and solar inverters. Home UPS (battery backup) units and inverters up to 10 kVA sit on a separate list.

Misleading ads (Central Consumer Protection Authority, 2022). An offer is not free if the buyer pays beyond the cost of responding. Bait ads need real stock. Claims, green ones too, must be provable, and agencies share that duty.

General guidance, not legal advice.

Straight answers.

  • It brings you buyers ready for a site survey, then helps turn surveys into installs. For us that means local search and lead ads, with WhatsApp follow-up. It also covers installer programmes and exhibitions. Our digital marketing page lists each service.

  • Be easy to find nearby, and easy to trust. That means a Google Business Profile with real project photos and reviews, ads that ask about the roof and the bill, and a call back within the hour. Housing society talks add more.

  • Factories buy slowly, and on numbers. B2B lead generation starts with a short list of target factories. Build a savings case from each one's bills, and show past projects with generation data the client has approved. Reach the owner, the plant head and the finance head separately.

  • Yes, if you state it as the national portal does and keep it current. Show the buyer's cost after the subsidy. Do not call the system free. Say that it needs a registered vendor and Indian-made modules, then the DISCOM's inspection. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • No agency fits every solar company, and we won't claim otherwise. Ask each one, including us, four things. Do they judge work on surveys and installs, not just leads? Will they check every subsidy and product claim? Can they run C&I and dealer work? Will the people in the first meeting do your work?

  • It depends on which buyers you chase, which areas you serve and how many surveys your team can handle. An installer programme or exhibition adds to it. We don't publish a price list. After a 30-minute strategist call, a written quote follows within 2 working days.

  • Lead ads can fill a survey calendar within weeks, once tracking is set up. Local search usually takes three to six months. C&I deals take months from first meeting to order, so judge them on meetings and proposals first. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • Our servicing team is based in cities across India, so we serve solar businesses everywhere. Most work runs online, and we meet you in your city at least once every three months. A team member can work on your site if needed. Our in-house team of 65+ does the work. Consultants and partners join where needed.
