A screen is mediayou own.

A screen nobody watches is just an electricity bill. PromotEdge supplies, installs and runs LED display screens for advertising across India, so retailers, showrooms and brands get a screen people actually watch.

We plan for Indian sun, dust and viewing distances. Indoor or outdoor, bought or rented, we size the screen to the distance people watch it from, then plan content that keeps earning attention after week one. Delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy, with a strategic alliance with Xtreme Media for sales, service and spares in East India.

Who it's for. Retailers, showrooms and companies that want media they own, and event organisers who rent: property sales galleries, clinic waiting areas and factory receptions. Buying ad time on screens others own is digital out-of-home (DOOH) media, covered under outdoor advertising. For letters and lit boards, see LED sign boards.

Indoor and outdoor screens, side by side.

The number to learn is pixel pitch: the gap between pixel centres in millimetres. A smaller pitch is sharper up close and costs more. As a rule of thumb, the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly the pitch in millimetres. Buying a finer pitch than viewers need is the most common way to overspend.

SpecIndoor screenOutdoor screen
Typical pixel pitchFiner, around P1.5 to P4, viewers a few metres awayCoarser, around P4 to P10, viewers on the road
BrightnessComfortable in a lit roomSeveral times brighter, with automatic dimming after dark
Weather protectionNot neededSealed cabinets, for example IP65 at the front
MountingWall, ceiling, floor stand or stage trussSteel structure on a wall, pole or rooftop, checked for wind load
Content and powerLocal player or network; normal supplyNetwork player with remote scheduling; dedicated supply with surge protection
PermissionsUsually none inside your premisesMunicipal advertisement permission and structural safety

Pitch and brightness figures are typical market ranges, not fixed rules. A pitch is recommended only after the viewing distance at your site has been checked. A reception wall might use P2.5 or finer; a roadside screen seen from 40 metres can use P8 or P10.

Our beliefWe're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.

/ 03 Signs you need this

A screen makes sensewhen you hear this.

“We print new posters for every offer, and they're out of date in two weeks.”

A screen changes the offer in minutes, and by time of day if you like.

“Our showroom front disappears in the evening traffic.”

A shop-front screen with moving content catches the eye from across the road.

“We hire LED walls for every event and pay full rent each time.”

If you run several events a year, compare a year's rent with buying. We show you the sums either way.

“The screen we bought looks blurred up close.”

That is a pitch mismatch. The pitch is chosen for the real viewing distance before you spend anything.

“Our screen still plays the video from the launch, a year ago.”

A content plan and a scheduling tool come with the screen, so updating becomes routine.

“The outdoor screen can't be read in the afternoon sun.”

Outdoor screens need far more brightness than indoor ones, plus a light sensor that dims them at night.

/ 04 How it works

From site visitto first broadcast.

This timeline is for a fixed outdoor screen. Indoor walls are quicker, and event screens go up in hours.

  1. 01

    Week 1: site and purpose

What the screen must do, who watches, from how far and when. The wall or roof is checked for strength, power and sun direction.

  2. 02

    Weeks 1–2: specification

Pitch, size, brightness and cabinet chosen for viewing distance and budget, with a mock-up over a photo of the site.

  3. 03

    Weeks 2–4: permissions and structure

For outdoor screens, local permission and a structural drawing. Indoor screens usually skip this.

  4. 04

    Weeks 3–6: supply and build

Panels, controller and structure prepared. The screen is tested panel by panel before it goes up.

  5. 05

    Installation and set-up

Structure fixed, panels aligned, power and data connected, brightness and colour calibrated, scheduling software set up.

  6. 06

    After launch: content and upkeep

A content calendar, remote monitoring where the player allows, and a plan for dead pixels and failed panels.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A showroom or store wants a shop-front screen bought once. A brand that holds events a few times a year may rent. A company that wants to sell time on screens others own is in digital out-of-home, covered under outdoor advertising.

  1. We start from the viewing distance, not the screen size. Pitch follows distance, and a finer pitch than viewers need is the commonest overspend. A pitch and size with the distance written beside them.
  2. We check the wall or roof, the power and the sun direction. Outdoor brightness and wind load decide how the screen is built. A site note with photos.
  3. We ask for permission early. Approvals can take longer than building. Permission papers filed with the site record.
  4. We set one job for the screen and a content calendar. A screen still playing last year's film earns nothing. A calendar and a scheduling tool your team can use.
  5. We plan spares and upkeep. Dead pixels and failed panels are routine, and spare modules from one batch match. A spares list.

Go deeper: who speaks for outdoor media in India

The outdoor trade body

The Indian Outdoor Advertising Association (IOAA) is a not-for-profit company registered in 2007. afaqs reported on 1 October 2007 that it was set up to look after out-of-home companies. It presses for uniform rules instead of ad hoc local decisions. For an outdoor screen, your city's own rules still decide.

A trade show for signage and LED displays

PrintWeek reported that Sign India 2024 (New Delhi, 9 to 11 August 2024) covered signage and LED displays, and named digital signage among its trends.

AI in LED screens: today and next

Today: draft loops for the screen

Google DeepMind's Veo page says Veo 3.1 does text-to-video, image-to-video and text-to-audio+video generation. That can draft a rough short loop from a product photo. Your real product, offer and price still need checking, and the loop is tested on the actual screen at its pitch.

Our view: drafts will get cheaper, so fresh content should be easier to keep. The one-job rule still decides what plays. Want a content plan for your screen? Ask us.

/ 05 Cost

Rent or buy:what a screen costs.

LED screens are usually priced on screen area, and the rate falls as the pitch gets coarser. We do not publish a price list. Rentals are charged by area and by day. Your quote comes within 2 working days.

What affects the cost

  • Pixel pitch: the finer it is, the more each square foot costs
  • Screen size in square feet
  • Indoor or outdoor build, and brightness
  • Structure: wall mount, pole, rooftop or stage truss
  • Controller, software and remote monitoring
  • Permissions for outdoor sites; for rentals, the days, set-up, operator and transport

How we quote

  1. You tell us where the screen goes, how far viewers stand and whether you want to rent or buy.
  2. We suggest a pitch and size for that distance, and check the wall or structure.
  3. You get a quote with rent and buy options side by side, each cost on its own line, shown before you approve.

What you get in the quote

  • Screen size and pitch, matched to the viewing distance
  • Structure, controller and scheduling software
  • Installation, power and signal cabling, and spare modules if you ask
  • For rentals: transport, set-up, an operator and dismantling

A simple test: if you would rent a screen for more than a few weeks a year, price a purchase as well.

Straight answers.

  • It is usually priced per square foot, and pixel pitch is the biggest driver. A fine-pitch indoor screen costs much more per square foot than a coarse-pitch outdoor one. Structure, controller and installation are added. We quote against a written scope.

  • Rent for one-off events and launches, or when you need a different size each time. Buy when the screen will run most days for years, as in a showroom, a shop front or your own building. If you rent often, compare a year's rent with buying plus upkeep.

  • Pixel pitch is the distance between pixels in millimetres. The closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly the pitch in millimetres. A reception wall seen from 2 to 3 metres needs about P2.5 or finer. A roadside screen seen from 30 metres or more can use P6 to P10.

  • Usually, yes. Outdoor advertising screens need permission from the municipal body, and many cities have rules on size, placement and brightness near roads. Large structures may need a structural safety certificate. Ask early, because approvals can take longer than fabrication. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • A well-built screen runs for many years. Brightness drops slowly with age, and power supplies and single modules are the parts that fail. Spare modules from the same batch keep repairs matching. Ask for the warranty in writing, part by part.

  • Digital signage means any screen that shows messages you can change, such as offers, menus or videos. An LED screen is one kind. Others are TV-style panels, which suit small indoor spots. LED screens suit large sizes and bright places.

  • Set one job for it first, such as walk-ins, enquiries for an offer, or sales of a featured product. Change the message on a plan and compare those numbers week to week. Your team can update content through the scheduling software we set up.

  • Yes. Our servicing team is based in cities across India and meets you in your city at least once every three months. Event walls are rental panels, trucked in and run by an operator. Availability depends on dates and size (see LED display screens in Kolkata).
