Mumbai is many markets at once, so one ad budget cannot treat them all alike. Every rupee is checked against the enquiries and sales in your own records.

Many bidders, one budget.Spend it where sales come from.

Many advertisers bid for the same Mumbai buyers, so an ad budget works only when it is aimed at the right area and offer. PromotEdge runs Google, Meta and LinkedIn ads for startups, finance firms, clinics and factories, judged on the leads and sales they bring.

You judge the ads only on what you can count.

That means an enquiry form, a call, a WhatsApp chat or an order. A buyer in Borivali, one in Thane and one in Vashi answer different offers, so we set each area up on its own. Our servicing team in Mumbai works with people in other cities, with shared dashboards and video-call reviews.

Our full method is on the national performance marketing page. The city as a whole is on our Mumbai overview.

More on this

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A D2C or marketplace brand tracks sales and ROAS. A clinic or school tracks calls and chats. A B2B (business to business) firm tracks qualified leads and closes slowly. A finance firm adds policy checks to every launch.

Who sets the rules

ASCI, the advertising industry's self-regulating body, was formed in 1985 to keep Indian ads "decent, fair and honest". IAMAI is the trade body for India's online sector. Platform finance policies sit on top of both.

  1. Agree the one number. Cost per lead, cost per sale or ROAS (sales for each rupee of ads), with a limit from your margin. What can't be measured can't be achieved. One number, written down, before any spend.
  2. Test every lead path and split the region. Anything we can't see gets fixed before spend, and each area needs its own line. Dummy enquiries through each form, call button and WhatsApp link.
  3. Three weeks of small tests. Ad platforms change fast, and AI has made them faster, so we test small and keep what works. Two channels, a few ads and two offers each.
  4. Move money every week, review each month. Your sales team marks real buyers, so campaigns that bring names but no business are cut, and the more involved you are, the faster you see results. Spend, leads and sales by area and channel, matched to your CRM.

AI in performance marketing: today and next

Today: Google

Google says Performance Max runs across YouTube, Display, Search, Discover, Gmail and Maps from one campaign, using your assets and bidding goals with Google AI. Its help page also lists tools that generate images and videos from your assets. We still choose the goal, the tracking and what to exclude.

Today: Meta

Meta says Advantage+ can optimise campaigns in real time and match ads to the people most likely to act. It only works as well as the lead data you feed back.

/ 03 Performance marketing in Mumbai

What gets in the way in Mumbai, and the way through.

Public records, checked on 4 October 2026, that change where and when your money is spent.

Fast connections, and a slow page costs clicks. TRAI counted 37.11 million internet subscribers in its Mumbai service area in March 2026, 36.38 million of them on broadband. By our own division, about 98 in every 100 are fast. So we build light landing pages and test short video.

Funded startups bid in the same auctions. On 31 March 2026, Maharashtra had 38,660+ startups recognised by DPIIT, the central department behind Startup India, and Karnataka had 22,600. That is a state total, not a Mumbai count. If you can't outspend them, out-aim them with fewer areas and a stronger offer.

Finance firms answer to two rulebooks. SEBI, the stock market regulator, has its head office in G Block of the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), and the Reserve Bank's central office moved to Mumbai in 1937. Google and Meta check loan, insurance and investment ads more closely, so launch dates need room for that.

One region, three ad areas. The 2011 Census counted 1,24,42,373 people in Greater Mumbai, 18,41,488 in Thane and 11,20,547 in Navi Mumbai. The region has 9 municipal corporations over 6,328 sq km. We split the areas in the ad account, so each shows its own cost per lead.

The record, and what it means for your ads.

TopicFrom the recordWhat it means for paid ads
LanguagesCensus 2011, our working: in Greater Mumbai about 35% named Marathi as mother tongue, 29% a Hindi-group language, 12% Urdu and 11% Gujarati.Language versions are tested against each other. Cost per lead decides which one stays.
Travel timeAtal Setu, 21.8 km, opened in January 2024 and cut Sewri to Nhava Sheva from about 60 minutes to 20, says JICA. Metro Line 3 runs 33.5 km, all underground. We draw ad areas by travel time to your door, and check them again when a new route opens.
Festive datesMaharashtra's 2026 holiday list: Dussehra 20 October, Laxmi Pujan 8 November, Bhaubeej 11 November.Small tests in early October. The bigger budget goes behind proven ads until Bhaubeej.

Sources as cited in each row, checked 4 October 2026. TRAI does not say whether its Mumbai service area includes Thane and Navi Mumbai users. Startup counts are for the whole state. Language shares are our own rounded working. No place, event or body named here is a client.

We're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of performance marketing in Mumbai.

After a first conversation we quote against a written scope, within 2 working days. Ad spend is separate from our fee: you pay it to Google, Meta or LinkedIn at actuals, and you approve each month's budget first.

What affects the cost

  • How crowded your auction is: finance and property meet far more bidders
  • How many areas need their own campaigns
  • How many channels run at once
  • How many new ads you need each month, and in how many languages
  • How deep the tracking goes: forms only, or calls, chats and offline sales from your CRM (customer relationship management: the tool that holds your customer records)
  • Extra policy work for finance, health or property ads

How we quote

  1. A first call about your margins, best areas and busy season
  2. A written scope: channels, areas, languages and the number we will report on
  3. A quote with our fee and ad spend on separate lines

What you get in the quote

  • Which channels run, and which areas each one covers
  • How a lead is counted, agreed before the first rupee is spent
  • Tracking set-up, the monthly review, and ad spend shown apart

Ask each agency how it counts a lead, whether GST and ad spend sit inside its number, and who works on your account each week.

Straight answers.

  • Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and we serve Mumbai through it. The work happens inside Google, Meta and LinkedIn, so we share live dashboards and review on video calls. We visit you in Mumbai regularly, and when a launch needs it, our team works from your site.

  • It runs your paid ads and is judged on results you can count: leads, sales and what each one cost. A good one fixes the tracking before spending, and tells you plainly when a channel stops paying back. It should also show you a real monthly report.

  • We won't call ourselves the best. Ask three things: how do you count a lead, can I see a real monthly report, and who runs my account each week? Then pick the plainest answers, and be careful with any promise of a lead count.

  • No. Ad spend goes to Google, Meta or LinkedIn at actuals, as its own line, and you approve the monthly budget before it is spent. Ongoing work has a 3-month minimum. After that you can stop with 30 days' notice.

  • Test rather than guess. By our count from the 2011 Census, about 35% of Greater Mumbai named Marathi as mother tongue. We run two versions side by side and keep the one with the lower cost per lead. Our language partners write the copy.

  • Dussehra falls on 20 October 2026, Laxmi Pujan on 8 November and Bhaubeej on 11 November. Test two or three offers on small budgets first, then move most money to the winner. After Bhaubeej, cut back unless sales keep coming.

  • First leads usually come within a week or two of going live. Cost per lead usually steadies after two to three months, once tests finish and money moves to what works. Sales to other firms can close weeks later, so we track those deals too.

  • Yes, with more care. Google and Meta check finance ads more closely, and some need the advertiser to be verified first. We plan approval time into the launch, so the date is realistic. This is general guidance, not legal advice.
