Speak to the readerin the paper they open.

Advertising works when the ad reaches each reader in the language and the paper they already open. PromotEdge plans, writes and books newspaper, radio and outdoor ads for brands selling to many language groups, so that you can see which rupee of media brought which enquiry.

Our servicing team in Mumbai plans and writes your campaign, backed by a team in cities across India. We travel for planning days, shoots and launches, and meet you in Mumbai at least once every three months.

People look for an ad agency or advertising company in Mumbai for a launch, a festive push or steady calls to a showroom or clinic. Each needs its own mix, and the plan ends in a cost per enquiry. See healthcare, retail and jewellery and our advertising service page.

/ 03 What makes Mumbai different

One city, many readers.

Four public facts shape every Mumbai media plan we write. We checked each on 4 October 2026.

The language comes before the medium. In Census 2011, about 35% of Greater Mumbai's people named Marathi as mother tongue, about 29% a Hindi-group language, about 12% Urdu and about 11% Gujarati (our working from the Census table). So ask first: which language does your buyer read at breakfast?

The newspaper shelf is split by language. Members of the ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) print Mumbai editions in Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi, English, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. One offer may need three papers in three scripts to reach one street.

Radio airtime is among the dearest in India. On the government's Akashvani card, a 10-second prime-time spot on FM Rainbow or FM Gold Mumbai lists at ₹880, second only to Delhi's ₹1,100. These are government rates from 1 June 2017, not ours.

Hoardings now come with paperwork. On 13 May 2024 a hoarding fell on a petrol pump at Ghatkopar during a dust storm, and 17 people died. In November 2025 BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) published its final outdoor policy: hoardings capped at 40 by 40 feet, yearly safety checks by structural engineers. A site's permit and safety papers are now part of every booking.

/ 04 Mumbai's media and rules

What you can book, and what it asks of you.

Mumbai itemWhat the record showsFor your plan
Papers by languageABC members with Mumbai editions: Loksatta, Daily Sakal (Marathi); Mumbai Samachar (Gujarati, first published 1822); Navbharat Times (Hindi); The Free Press Journal ("established in 1928", its own claim), The Hindu (English).Pick by the language your buyer reads first.
Radio: eight private FM stations and AkashvaniPrivate FM at 91.1, 91.9, 92.7, 93.5, 94.3, 98.3, 104.0 and 104.8 MHz (ministry list, 30 March 2026). Akashvani FM Rainbow 107.1 and FM Gold 100.7: ₹880, ₹660 and ₹440 per 10 seconds by band; Vividh Bharati 1188 kHz: ₹500, ₹440 and ₹330.Pick by age, language and time band. Akashvani rates are government rates from 1 June 2017, not ours.
BMC outdoor policy, 2025Published 27 November 2025. LED ads are allowed at malls, multiplexes, shopping complexes, commercial buildings and petrol pumps. Lit or digital boards need a traffic police NOC (a written "no objection" letter). We ask for the permit, safety certificate and insurance first.

Sources as cited, checked 4 October 2026. Akashvani figures are the government's card, not our prices. Outdoor rows are general guidance, not legal advice.

/ 05 How a Mumbai campaign runs

Six steps,one honest report.

  1. 01

    A first call

Who buys, where they live, which language they read, and your dates.

  2. 02

    The media plan on paper

Which papers, stations and sites, and why, each with the owner's current rate.

  3. 03

    Creative in each language

One idea written fresh for each language, then sized for every paper, spot and board.

  4. 04

    Site and permit checks

For each site: the BMC permit and end date, the traffic police letter for lit boards, the safety certificate.

  5. 05

    Booking after your yes

Nothing is booked until you approve. Then come logs, tear sheets and site photos.

  6. 06

    Reading the results

What can't be measured can't be achieved. Campaign-only numbers, QR codes and offer codes show which medium brought which call.

How we deliver it, and why

Who sets the rules and who measures

ASCI, formed in 1985, is the advertising industry's self-regulatory body "to keep Indian ads decent, fair and honest". Any claim in your ad, such as "lowest price", needs proof you can show. BARC India, which measures TV ratings, has its office in Parel. MRUC, a not-for-profit industry body since 1994, runs the Indian Readership Survey and the Indian Outdoor Survey. AAAI is the national organisation of advertising agencies, formed in 1945.

Thane and Navi Mumbai

Neither city has an ABC member edition or a separate private FM entry. Navi Mumbai's city body removed 31 illegal hoardings in May 2024, and Thane's ordered a city-wide hoarding audit in July 2026. We check each Mumbai paper's reach there, and hoardings follow each city body's rules.

Festival banners

BMC's policy covers religious-festival banners only for Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri. For any other festival, we check the rule with BMC first.

  1. Choose the language before the medium. A reader who cannot read the ad cannot call. A language split of your buyers.
  2. Write each version fresh. A word-for-word copy loses the offer or the tone. Four language cuts, checked by our team.
  3. Check every site before booking. A hoarding without a valid permit can come down mid-campaign. Permit, safety paper and end date on file.
  4. Give each medium its own number. Then you can see which rupee brought which call. A cost per enquiry by medium.

AI in advertising: today and next

Today: Meta Advantage+

Meta says its Advantage+ campaigns use AI across audience, placement and budget, and optimise in real time. We use it for the online side of a plan.

Source: Meta, Advantage+, read 10 October 2026

Today: dubbing for radio and video

ElevenLabs says it dubs into 90+ languages and keeps the speaker's voice, and calls the quality "close to human quality", not equal to it. A Marathi or Gujarati spot still needs a native ear before it airs.

Next

Our view: AI will draft more versions of the ad. Papers, radio and BMC permission still need people who know Mumbai. Want us to look at your plan? Ask us.

Planning for Diwali? Ask which radio slots and hoarding sites are still open. Talk to us

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of advertising in Mumbai.

Airtime, paper space, sites, screens, printing and travel are passed on at actual cost, and you see each before you approve.

What affects the cost

  • Languages: each extra one adds a script, a layout and often a paper
  • Print: papers, editions, size, colour, page and day
  • Radio: stations, Akashvani or both, time band and weeks
  • Outdoor: site size within the 40 by 40 feet cap, lit or unlit, months booked
  • Season: the Dussehra and Diwali weeks fill first
  • Area: Mumbai alone, or Thane and Navi Mumbai too

How we quote

  1. A call about your buyers, areas and dates
  2. A media plan on paper, with the reason for each line
  3. A quote within 2 working days, to approve or trim. Booking only after your yes

What you get in the quote

  • Each paper, station or site, with size, language, date and rate
  • Each site's permit date and safety papers
  • Our fee on its own line, apart from media and production

When you compare quotes, check that each lists the permit and safety papers for every hoarding.

Think creative. Act on numbers.

Planning a Mumbai campaign?

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • We serve Mumbai through a servicing team based in cities across India. We talk daily, meet you in Mumbai at least once every three months, and place the team at your site if a campaign needs it. Planning calls happen on video, so distance does not slow the work.

  • Start from your buyer. Our language partners write all four, and most plans run one offer in two languages. State government ads fall under Maharashtra's 2021 Marathi rule. Our team checks every version before it runs. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • Yes, on a site with a valid BMC permit. Under the 2025 policy no hoarding may exceed 40 by 40 feet, and lit boards need a traffic police letter. Footpaths are off limits. We ask for the permit first. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • For radio and press, yes. Dussehra falls on 20 October and the Diwali holidays on 8 to 11 November 2026. Good hoarding sites may be taken, so ask today. Ganeshotsav 2026 is over; plan 2027 by early summer, when the best slots are still open.

  • Yes. Paper, radio and hoardings make people curious, and most then search on a phone. TRAI, the telecom regulator, counted 37.11 million internet subscribers in its Mumbai service area in March 2026. We run Google search ads and Meta ads beside the mainline plan.

  • Press and radio usually bring calls in the week they run. Hoardings build familiarity over a month or more. Judge a plan after two or three bursts. Your report shows cost per enquiry by medium, so you can see which spend earned its place.

  • We won't claim that, and be careful of anyone who does. Ask each agency: can I see the BMC permit for every hoarding? How will you prove my spots ran? Is your fee shown apart from media costs? Choose the one that answers clearly.

  • Yes, through the same servicing team. Census 2011 counted about 18.4 lakh people in Thane and 11.2 lakh in Navi Mumbai, about half of each Marathi-speaking. We check each Mumbai paper's reach there, and hoardings follow each city body's rules. See our Mumbai overview.
