Earned coverage,not paid noise.

Good PR (public relations) starts with real news, not a press note about nothing. PromotEdge finds the news in your business, writes it for Bengali, English and Hindi newsrooms and works with reporters to get it covered.

We work for companies, institutions and founders who want buyers and job seekers to know and trust them.

We're professionals, so we'd rather be blunt than pleasing. Coverage can't be bought. Anyone who guarantees a front page is selling paid space or guessing. We promise a story worth printing, sent to the right desk on the right day, with the facts and photos a reporter needs.

A Burrabazar jewellery exporter, a Sector V software firm and a Bypass school need different reporters, and often a different language. We judge PR on enquiries after a story runs, name searches and better job applicants. See our public relations services, or PR in Delhi NCR and Mumbai.

/ 02 What we do in Kolkata

PR work,start to clipping.

01

Media relations in three languages

Releases and pitches for Bengali, English and Hindi desks, sent to named reporters, not a list of hundreds.

02

Launches and announcements

A new plant, showroom, course or funding round. A press meet only if the news deserves one.

03

Founder and leadership PR

Interviews, bylined articles and expert comment that put your senior people before the readers who decide.

04

Trade show and summit PR

Stories timed to the big Kolkata summits and trade fairs, when business reporters hunt for news.

05

Radio talk and interviews

Pitching your educator or founder for FM and Akashvani segments.

06

Reputation and crisis

A holding statement, a calm spokesperson and a plan for what people find when they search your name.

What we believe

We're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.

Not sure whether you have news? Tell us what is new in your business and we will say honestly if a desk would care. Get a free growth plan

/ 03 The Kolkata press

Old newsrooms, new owners, three languages.

Four facts about this city's media decide how we pitch a Kolkata story.

Some of India's oldest newsrooms are here. The Statesman began from Kolkata in 1875 as a one-anna daily. Anandabazar Patrika first appeared on 13 March 1922. The Telegraph has come out of the city since 1982. Such desks expect news, not a brochure with a dateline.

Know who owns what. ABP Pvt Ltd publishes both Anandabazar Patrika and The Telegraph. Sangbad Pratidin comes from Pratidin Prakashani, and Aajkaal from Aajkaal Publishers. The Times Group started Ei Samay in 2012 and sold it to Tidings Media and Communications in May 2024. One group's two papers are not two chances, and a contact list from before a sale is stale.

Business news runs on a calendar. The eighth Bengal Global Business Summit was held on 5-6 February 2025. India Energy Week is set for 28-31 January 2027 in New Town. Over 40,000 people work in Kolkata's Global Capability Centres (Bengal Chamber, 2026). Expansion and hiring news has a ready business readership.

Nobody can show you current readership. The last Indian Readership Survey dates from 2019, and public ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) figures for Kolkata dailies stop at 2022. So we pick outlets by who reads them and what earlier stories achieved.

/ 04 Kolkata media for PR

Who to pitch,and when.

WhatIn KolkataWhy it matters for your PR
Bengali newsroomsAnandabazar Patrika and Bartaman. Also Sangbad Pratidin, Aajkaal and Ei Samay.A release written in Bengali gets read. A machine translation of the English one usually doesn't.
English newsroomsThe Telegraph and The Statesman are Kolkata papers. The Times of India, The Economic Times and The Hindu print Kolkata editions.Good for business, policy, education and trade stories. National desks pick up from these papers.
RadioSeven private FM stations on the MIB list (30 March 2026), plus Akashvani's FM Rainbow, FM Gold and primary channel.Interviews suit experts with practical advice. Paid spots are a separate advertising buy.
Business calendarEast India Print & Pack: 27-29 November 2026. India Energy Week: 28-31 January 2027.Trade reporters gather at these. We line up stories and interviews a few weeks before.
Culture calendarDurga Puja, on UNESCO's intangible heritage list since 2021. The Book Fair, with a record 32 lakh visitors in 2026.Festival stories get space when they are really about the festival, not an ad with a pandal photo.

Drawn from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, UNESCO and trade-fair listings, checked on 3 October 2026. Newspapers are named as options in the city, not as our clients or partners.

/ 05 How Kolkata PR runs

From a hunchto a printed story.

  1. 01

    Find the news (week 1)

We look at your business first and the press second, and ask what is truly new: a number, a first, a person, a plan.

  2. 02

Pick the angle and language (week 1)

Which desk, which language, which day. A Bengali business page and an English city page need different first lines.

  3. 03

    Write and check (week 2)

Release, fact sheet, photos and a spokesperson brief. Our language partners write it; our team checks.

  4. 04

    Pitch and follow up

We call and write to reporters ourselves, offer interviews and answer questions quickly.

  5. 05

    Report what changed (monthly)

Each story with outlet, date and language, plus what moved: enquiries, name searches, applicants.

Tell us what’s not working. We’ll send you an honest one-page growth plan, free.

More on this

Deeper reading if you want the research behind the plan.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A Sector V software firm pitches hiring and product news to business desks. A dealer-led B2B (business-to-business) maker pitches trade titles around shows. A school pitches results and events to city pages. A D2C (direct-to-consumer) brand pitches launches to lifestyle desks.

Who sets the rules and keeps the standards

PRSI, the Public Relations Society of India, calls itself a 60-year-old organisation of PR professionals, and lists a Kolkata chapter. PRCAI, the Public Relations Consultants Association of India, formed over two decades ago and keeps a Code of Conduct for its members.

  1. Look for the news (week 1). If it isn't news, we say so. A desk that gets nothing from you remembers it. A call with you and your sales team.
  2. Pick the desk and language (weeks 1-2). A Bengali business page and an English city page need different first lines. A story list on paper.
  3. Write the press kit (week 2). A spokesperson should never be caught out on a call. Release, fact sheet, photos and a one-page brief.
  4. Pitch by beat, then report. A named reporter who covers your subject beats a list of hundreds. Each story by outlet, date and language, then what moved.

Go deeper: more Kolkata newsrooms, rooms and festivals

Hindi newsrooms and press-meet rooms

Sanmarg, Prabhat Khabar and Rajasthan Patrika print Kolkata editions, the ABC lists them. Biswa Bangla Convention Centre banquet halls seat 200-350 people, Science City has 11 seminar halls (15-100 seats), and ITC Royal Bengal lists 61,000 sq ft of meeting space. Size the room to the likely turnout: a small full room photographs better than a half-empty hall.

Festivals and fairs

The ILPA leather fair ran on 28-30 October 2025 and the Bengal International Jewellery Show on 28-30 November 2025. The December Christmas festival is held on Park Street.

AI in PR: today and next

Today: Google AI Overviews and AI Mode

Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode can link to supporting pages, and that a page must be indexed and eligible to show in Search with a snippet, with no additional technical requirements. A story on an indexed news page can be one of those links. Nobody can promise it.

Next

Our view: drafting and monitoring will keep getting faster. Judging what is news, and getting a reporter to call back, stay human. Want us to look at where AI could help your next release? Ask us.

/ 06 Cost

What PR in Kolkata costs.

We do not publish a price list, because a monthly programme and a single launch need very different effort. Coverage is earned, so there is no media bill, only costs such as a venue or photographer.

What affects the cost

  • Stories per month, and how many languages each one needs
  • A steady retainer or a single launch
  • Spokesperson preparation and interview coaching
  • Press meet costs: room, sound, photographer
  • Crisis cover and out-of-hours response

How we quote

  1. We talk through the news you have and the readers you want to reach.
  2. You get a written plan: stories, outlets, languages and the monthly report.
  3. Our fee sits on one line, and press meet costs are shown apart.

What you get in the quote

  • How many stories each month, and in which languages
  • The outlets and reporters we plan to approach
  • The monthly report: each story by outlet, date and language

Ask whether any "coverage" in a PR quote is really paid space. Paid features have their place, but they should be labelled and priced as advertising.

/ 07 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • Yes, our office is in Kolkata: Suite 508, Ambuja Neotia Eco Centre, Sector V, Salt Lake. Your releases are written and pitched from there, and it is where we prepare spokespeople before interviews. You are welcome to meet the team on a planning call or in person.

  • No, and no honest agency can. Editors decide what runs. We can make the story worth running, get it to the right reporter and follow it up properly. If someone promises a guaranteed placement, ask whether it is paid space.

  • Yes. Through our language partners we write releases and pitches in Bengali, Hindi and English. A Bengali paper should get a release written in Bengali from the start. Our team checks every one before it goes out, and we pitch each language desk with its own angle.

  • Only if the news is big enough for reporters to travel for it. For most announcements, a strong release, good photos and one-to-one interviews do more. When a press meet makes sense, we choose a room that fits the likely turnout, from a hotel meeting room to a banquet hall.

  • By July. Festival features are planned early, and in the Puja weeks newsrooms are full of festival stories. In 2026, state government offices closed from 15 to 26 October. Either land your story before that or plan one for after Lakshmi Puja on 25 October.

  • By what happens after the coverage: enquiries, visits from the story, searches for your name, job applicants, dealer interest. We also list each story by outlet, language and date. We don't use invented "advertising value" figures, and we tell you plainly which stories did nothing.

  • Ongoing monthly PR has a 3-month minimum. After that you can stop with 30 days' notice. A single launch is quoted as a one-off project, so you pay only for that launch, its release, its follow-up and any press meet costs you approve.
