/ 01 Brand guidelines design

A brand bookpeople really follow.

A brand book protects your brand only if the people who apply it actually open it. PromotEdge turns your brand into a short book, ready templates and one approver, so dealers, agencies and staff use it right and buyers see one company.

Today your dealer redraws the logo, and your sales team builds slides in five colours.

This page is for you when many hands apply your brand: dealers, printers, agencies and new joiners. Often the brand in the field has not caught up with a step towards premium.

Do you need a redesign first? Usually not. We write the rules for the brand you have, and change only what your real material shows is broken. If the brand itself is the problem, we say so and point you to brand identity design. Only the mark needs work? See logo design.

Start this week. Collect 30 things your brand appeared on this year: a dealer board, an invoice, a tender cover, a stall panel. Put them side by side and pick the five problems that would confuse a buyer most.

/ 02 What you get

A brand book people use, piece by piece.

What you getWhat it does for you
Side-by-side sheet of 30 real itemsShows where the brand breaks
The short brand bookLogo versions, colour codes, two typefaces, photo style and tone
Do and don't pagesEach rule beside a wrong version your own people made
Templates and a shared folderOnly the jobs your pile shows, in Word and PowerPoint
A printer sheetWhich file to use, the colours to match, and what to refuse to print
An approval path and a walk-throughOne named approver, a checklist, a call for your team
/ 03 What usually gets in the way

Hurdles,and the way through.

“Dealers keep asking for the logo file.”

We set up one shared folder and one link, so the right file is easy to find.

“The brand book is long and nobody opens it.”

We cut it down and show each rule as a right and wrong pair.

“Salespeople make their own slides in every colour.”

A ready deck with the layout built in beats a rule on page 40.

“A new joiner asks which logo to use, and nobody is sure.”

Page one answers it in one picture, and the folder has a short read-me.

“The brand is fine, but the rules were never written down.”

That needs no redesign. We write down what works and fix only the top breaks.

“Every artwork waits on one senior person.”

We name one approver and list what can go out without asking.

/ 05 How we work

From a pile of 30 thingsto a book in use.

  1. 01

    Listen

We talk to your marketing head and sales team, who know where the brand goes wrong.

  2. 02

    Fix the top five

We lay out the 30 things, then give each big problem one clear rule.

  3. 03

    Write the short book

Plain rules, each with a right and wrong example from your own material.

  4. 04

    Build templates and the folder

    Tested on real jobs first.

  5. 05

Name the approver and hand over

The more involved that person is, the faster you see results. Three months later we look at 30 new items together.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A dealer-led B2B (business-to-business) firm needs a dealer board kit and a printer sheet. A franchise needs an outlet kit. A D2C (direct to consumer) brand needs templates for marketplace images and social posts. A services firm needs slides and proposal templates.

  1. Start from 30 real items. People copy the last thing they saw, so the book must answer what they really make. A side-by-side sheet.
  2. Keep what already works. A redesign costs far more than writing down a good brand. Rules built on your logo and colours.
  3. Show right and wrong together. A rule with no example is the first one ignored. Do and don't pages from your own material.
  4. Name one approver. Many approvers slow every job. A checklist and a no-approval list.
  5. Check again at three months. A book is judged by use, not by delivery. A fresh set of 30 items.

AI in brand guidelines: today and next

Today: AI use needs a rule

ASCI's guidelines on AI-made ad content ask for a label where it could mislead a buyer, for example a synthetic ambassador. Routine edits and copy refinement need none. Fabricated endorsements and a real person's likeness without consent are prohibited, label or not. They take effect three months after publication.

Next

Our view: brand books will need one page on AI. Which tools your team may use, who checks the output, and when a label goes on. Want us to draft that page with your rules? Ask us.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of brand guidelines.

No price list. These things move the number.

We quote each project after a first conversation, against a written scope. Printed books, boards and stationery are costed separately. We send the quote within 2 working days.

What affects the cost

  • How many hands apply your brand: your team, or dealers, agencies and printers too
  • Whether the brand needs only writing down, or some repair first
  • How many templates, and in which tools
  • Indian scripts the rules must cover besides English

How we quote

  1. You tell us who applies the brand and where it goes wrong.
  2. We look at a sample of your real material.
  3. We write a scope: book, templates, folder, walk-through, dates.
  4. You approve the quote before work starts.

What you get in the quote

  • The brand book and the templates, with file formats
  • The approval checklist, printer sheet and dates

Comparing quotes? Ask if your team can edit the templates, and if a hand-over is included.

/ 07 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Straight answers.

  • Brand guidelines are the written rules for how your brand looks and sounds. A brand book is the same thing. A useful one is short, shows right and wrong examples for everyone who makes something for you, and comes with templates and one person who approves.

  • Because the field makes most of what buyers see. When each dealer and agency makes its own version, buyers meet five different companies. Rules, templates and one approver keep the brand the same at every counter, and protect the premium you have earned.

  • Start with the logo and when to use each version. Add exact colour codes, typefaces, photo style and how the brand writes. Then add templates, a shared folder and a named approver, with right and wrong examples. A rule with no example is the first one ignored.

  • Collect 30 things your brand appeared on this year and lay them side by side. Mark the five problems that confuse buyers most, and write one rule for each, keeping what you already use. Then build the templates and name the approver. Many companies need no new logo.

  • It depends on how many hands apply your brand, how many templates you need, and whether the brand needs repair first. We quote after a first conversation, against a written scope that also sets the dates, and we confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • Our in-house team of 65+ people does the work, with industry consultants and partner agencies where a job needs them. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, so we work hybrid and remotely, and meet you in your city at least once every three months. In Kolkata? See branding in Kolkata.

  • Three months after hand-over, collect 30 new things your brand appeared on and count how many break the top five rules. Also watch how often people ask your team for the logo. If the numbers do not move, we change the book, not the people.
