“We loved the project name, then found a close one on the register.”
Search the Trade Marks Registry before design starts. The Act bars a mark close to an earlier one for similar services (section 11(1)). Our naming work gives you names to search.

Industries · Real estate · Real estate branding
For developers, builders and plot marketers. One developer brand, a name for each project, and a look that holds from board to phone.
A strategist calls you in one working day.

Real estate branding gives a developer, and each project it sells, a name, a look and a promise that buyers can check. It works in two layers.
The developer brand lasts across projects. The project brand lasts for the sales period. PromotEdge plans both with you. Your lawyer clears the name and the claims.
The whole launch is on our real estate marketing page. This page is the brand under it. A board is a hoarding advertising job, the site is on real estate website design, and enquiries are on real estate lead generation.
RERA is the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. Each state has its own authority under it, and a project in scope must be registered before it is advertised. A trade mark is a sign that tells one business's goods or services from another's.
Each piece in the first rollout, and who signs it.
| Item | What it must carry | Who signs off |
|---|---|---|
| Developer name and logo | The legal name as registered, one logo set, one line on what you build | Founder or managing director |
| Project name and logo | The name as on the RERA record and the sanctioned map, after a trade mark search | Founder, attorney and RERA owner |
| Tagline | One claim you can prove, with proof on file. No travel times, no rank | Legal |
| Hoarding and outdoor | Name large, the number and authority website as your state asks | Marketing, legal and RERA owner |
| Brochure and floor plans | The same name and logo, the number, the website, a label on every render | Legal and RERA owner |
| Website and landing page | The same name and logo, the number, an authority link, delivered projects | Marketing and RERA owner |
| WhatsApp profile and share card | A square logo that reads small, and the number on any message that offers a flat | Sales head |
| Brand guide | Logo files, colour codes, a one-colour and a small version, name spelling | Founder |
Our view, unless a rule is named. The attorney and the RERA owner (whoever handles your RERA papers) are yours.
Deeper reading if you want the research behind the plan.
Our view. A buyer meets the project first and checks the developer second.
| Developer brand | Project brand | |
|---|---|---|
| How long it lasts | Years, across projects | The sales period of one project |
| What it carries | Legal name, logo, one line on what you build, delivered projects | Registered project name, project logo, one picture, the offer or milestone |
| Change it when | The business changes | Seldom. A new name touches the map, the RERA record and every piece |

Two tests from the Trade Marks Act, 1999 matter most. A name that only describes the kind, quality or place can be refused (section 9(1)(b)). A name close to an earlier mark for similar services can be refused too (section 11(1)). Run the search before the logo is drawn. IP India links two search tools. Ask a trade mark attorney to read the results.

The Registry files marks by class: goods in 1 to 34, services in 35 to 45.
| Class | Heading, as on the WIPO page | Examples named there |
|---|---|---|
| 36 | Financial, monetary and banking services; insurance services; real estate services | Real estate agency, real estate management, rental of apartments |
| 37 | Construction services; installation and repair services; mining extraction, oil and gas drilling | Construction and demolition of buildings, roads, bridges |

Section 12 of the Act covers a buyer who pays an advance on the information in an advertisement. Read it before you sign off a line.
| The promise | Why it is risky | Where it sits |
|---|---|---|
| Bookings open, or a teaser, before registration | No promoter may advertise, market, book or sell before registering | RERA Act, section 3(1) |
| Finest, or any rank you cannot prove | A claim of fact must be capable of proof, and an ad must not mislead | ASCI Code, Chapter I, clauses 1 and 4 |
| A line or picture beyond the facts you filed | Andhra Pradesh RERA asks for truthful ads that rest on facts given to the authority | Andhra Pradesh RERA advertisement page |

Buyers look past the logo.
| What buyers check | Where the trail starts | What your brand should make easy |
|---|---|---|
| RERA registration | The state site. Haryana RERA's project page shows the name, number, promoter and certificate link | The number and website on every piece (section 11(2)), with the name spelled as registered |
| Builder history | The filing lists projects of the past five years, with status, delays and pending cases (section 4(2)(b)) | A delivered-projects page that matches the filing, late projects included |
| Land title | The promoter declares a legal title to the land (section 4(2)(l)(A)) | Title papers ready for a buyer's lawyer. No clear title in a tagline unless your lawyer agrees |

“We loved the project name, then found a close one on the register.”
Search the Trade Marks Registry before design starts. The Act bars a mark close to an earlier one for similar services (section 11(1)). Our naming work gives you names to search.
“The name only says where the project is, or what it is.”
Such a mark can be refused (section 9(1)(b)). Our view: add a word that is yours alone.
“Each project has a new look, and buyers never learn who the developer is.”
Buyers can check your past projects, since the RERA filing lists five years of them (section 4(2)(b)). Our brand architecture work sets how the two names sit together.
“The name on the board is not the name on the RERA certificate.”
UP RERA was reported in March 2024 to want the registered project, tower and block names in brochures and advertisements. Use one spelling everywhere.
“The logo looks fine on a hoarding and vanishes on a phone.”
Test it as a small square in one colour. Our view: for text, borrow the web standard WCAG 2.2 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), which asks for 4.5 to 1 contrast, or 3 to 1 for large text.
No price list. These things move the number.
PromotEdge does not publish a price list.
Trade mark filing is paid to the Registry and your attorney. Printing is paid to the printer.
Opened on 2 November 2026. We read the pages, not the order files they link to. Check the current text.
The RERA Act bars advertising a project before it is registered (section 3(1)) and asks each advertisement for the authority's website and the registration number (section 11(2)). The hub covers these.
The Trade Marks Act, 1999 sets which names the Registry refuses (section 9) and which clash with an earlier mark (section 11). Without a registration you cannot sue for infringement, but you may sue for passing off, which means presenting your service as another's (section 27).
States add their own orders. MahaRERA lists one of 8 April 2025 on QR codes and the font size of the registration number (branding in Mumbai). The WBRERA notifications page lists one on advertisement and other publicities, dated 25 July 2024 (branding in Kolkata). We have not read either order.
ASCI is the Advertising Standards Council of India, a self-regulating body. We found no real estate rule in its Code, but Chapter I covers all advertising. Storyboard18 reported on 16 February 2024 that MahaRERA and ASCI agreed to check ads that lack a number and QR code.
Ask your state authority and your lawyer. General guidance, not legal advice.

“Hi, my name is Hitesh Malhotra. I'm working in FIVB. We are working with PromoteEdge (with Team Sayantan).I would like to give you a brief detail. So when we started this project, we had a good discussion with them. And personally, I feel PromotEdge is kind of a one stop solution for us. So basically, they provided us the whole storyboarding regarding the digital assets and how we can use those with our ambassadors programme. They helped us a lot to structurize the whole concept from our side. So in fact, there were a lot of great ideas they provided, guiding us...what we should do and what we should not do in this regard. And the best part was that they were very clear from there, from the whole blueprint. So they understood our request from the proposal and then accordingly they executed it.”

GibaBrazilian Former Volleyball PlayerSportsReal estate branding gives a developer, and each project it sells, a name, a look and a promise that buyers can check. A developer layer lasts across projects. A project layer lasts for the sales period. Names and claims must follow RERA, trade mark and advertising rules.
Our view: set the developer layer first, because it carries across projects, then name each project beneath it. The RERA filing asks for projects of the past five years (section 4(2)(b)), so buyers can check your history. A buyer meets the project first, then looks up the developer.
Search the Trade Marks Registry with the tools on IP India's site, then ask a trade mark attorney to read the results. The Act bars a mark close to an earlier one for similar services (section 11(1)). Search before you pay for design.
The Nice Classification puts real estate services, such as agency work, management and renting apartments, in class 36, and construction of buildings in class 37. Which class suits a developer who builds and sells flats is a question for a trade mark attorney. We found no page that settles it.
Section 11(2) of the Act asks for the registration number and the authority's website, not the name. UP RERA was reported in March 2024 to require registered project, tower and block names in brochures and advertisements. Check your own authority's current text, and keep one spelling everywhere.
Planning can. Public use cannot. Section 3(1) says no promoter shall advertise, market, book, sell or offer for sale a project in scope before it is registered. Choose the name, check it and draft the guide in private. Ask your lawyer before any teaser.
Avoid claims you cannot show: opening before registration, travel times to landmarks, vague lines such as terms and conditions apply, and rank words with no proof. The ASCI Code asks that claims of fact can be shown to be true.
PromotEdge publishes no price list. The cost depends on how many names you test, how many projects the developer brand covers, whether you keep a logo, and how many pieces the guide covers. Trade mark filing is paid separately. A written quote follows within 2 working days of a 30-minute call.
Ongoing monthly work has a 3-month minimum. After that you can stop with 30 days' notice. A project has a clear end, and we confirm its timeline in the quote. The smallest first step, a free 30-minute call and a one-page plan, commits you to nothing.
Before work starts, we agree in writing who your main contact is, how often you meet, and who signs off each piece of work. The person who plans your campaign talks to the person who designs it every day. The seniors you meet at the first call are the people who run your work.
