Design the pagesthat decide the sale.

A store gets visits but few orders when its pages make the buyer work. PromotEdge designs the pages that decide a sale: home, category, search, product, cart and checkout.

We plan each one for a phone first, so a shopper can find, trust and pay without help.

This page is about how the store looks and works for the buyer. Building it is a different job, done on our ecommerce website development page, with Shopify and WordPress and WooCommerce as the usual platforms. Bringing shoppers in, on marketplaces and in ads, is ecommerce and marketplace marketing.

Have a live store? Start with a UX audit if you only need to know what is wrong. Choose an ecommerce website redesign when the structure itself holds the store back. Then we keep the addresses that sell, as our website redesign page explains.

/ 03 Common hurdles

What usually gets in the way,and the way through.

“Shoppers open a product page and leave.”

We put the photo, price, stock status and a pincode check in the first screen on a phone. Long text comes after.

“They add to the cart, then stop at checkout.”

We cut checkout to the steps you truly need: guest checkout, one clear total, no surprise charges. Cash on delivery, UPI and cards are listed plainly, where you offer them.

“Customers phone to ask about returns and delivery.”

We give the return rule and delivery time a fixed place near the price and again in the cart. Plain words, no small print.

“The store has many products and nobody can find one.”

We design search, filters and sorting for a thumb on a small screen. Filters follow how buyers speak: size, price, use or brand.

“Buttons are tiny and get tapped by mistake.”

WCAG 2.2 sets 24 by 24 CSS pixels as the minimum tap target at its AA level, with a few exceptions. We draw buttons at least that big, with space between them.

“The home page shows everything and sends nobody anywhere.”

We give the home page one job: take the shopper to a category or a popular product in one tap. Banners and the brand story come after.

/ 04 How we work

Watch shoppers first, then draw, test and hand over.

The time depends on the number of page types and the products in scope. We confirm it in the quote.

  1. 01

Agree what each page must do

A short call with the store's owners to agree the one job of each page.

  2. 02

See how shoppers use the store

We use the store as a buyer would on a phone, and read your numbers.

  3. 03

    Draw the key pages

Home, category, search, product, cart and checkout, drawn for the phone first.

  4. 04

    Test on real phones

We click through the screens on real phones, fix what stumbles, and check tap size.

  5. 05

    Hand over to the build

You get final screens and a clickable preview. The build team works from them.

How we run the design, and why

Our web lead, Benjamin Sardar, plans the pages. Our UI/UX designer, Sunanda Basak, draws them.

How your business changes the design

A D2C brand needs a strong product page. A jeweller (see retail and jewellery) needs large, clear photos. A seller of fans or kitchen goods (see electricals and appliances) needs clear specifications and warranty terms.

  1. Give every page one job. One page, one job. A one-page scope.
  2. Draw for the phone first. Most of your shoppers hold a phone. Phone layouts, then laptop.
  3. Put delivery and returns near the price. Shoppers hate to hunt for them. A product page that answers the question.
  4. Test on real phones. A drawing can still be hard to tap. A short check note.

Ecommerce design: today and next

What Google shows

Google's guide to product structured data says shoppers can see price, availability, ratings and shipping information in search results. It adds that these are not guaranteed. So we show price and stock in plain text, and the build adds the data.

/ 05 Cost

What affects the cost of ecommerce website design.

No price list. These things move the number.

Every client and project is different. The cost depends on the effort it takes, so we price after the first call. We publish no price list. The first step is a free growth plan: a 30-minute call and a one-page plan, for projects we think we can help.

What affects the cost

  • Number of page types
  • New store or redesign of a live store
  • Size of the catalogue and how many filters it needs
  • Extra flows, such as bulk orders or dealer prices
  • Whether you want testing with real shoppers as well
  • Languages on the store

How we price it

  1. You tell us where shoppers stop today
  2. We look at the store, or the plan for it, and the numbers you share
  3. We write down the pages in scope
  4. You get the quote in writing within 2 working days, each cost on its own line

What you get in the quote

  • The review and the page scope
  • Screens for the pages in scope, for phone and laptop
  • The phone and accessibility check
  • The handover call and a clickable preview

We take on a limited number of projects and say honestly if one is not a fit. Comparing quotes? Ask what you receive at the end, and who owns the design files.

/ 06 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

A typical website takes 4 to 6 weeks. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop. A single job, such as one event or one print run, is quoted as one project.

Common questions.

  • Ecommerce website design is the planning and look of the pages that lead to a sale: home, category, search, product, cart and checkout. It decides what a shopper sees, taps and trusts. It is separate from the build, which covers the platform, payments and code. We plan it for a phone first.

  • Design decides what each page shows and how it works for the buyer. Development builds the store on a platform, with payments, shipping and tracking. Design comes first and the build works from it.

  • It can, when product and category addresses change without redirects. We list the pages that earn today, keep their addresses where we can, and map the rest with permanent redirects. We cannot promise rankings. See our website redesign and SEO migration pages.

  • Yes. We give payment choices a clear place at checkout and list cash on delivery, UPI and cards where you offer them. The return rule sits near the price and again in the cart, in plain words. The rules are yours. We make sure shoppers can find them.

  • Access to the live store and its numbers if you have them, a list of the products that matter most, and one person who can approve the screens. Photos and logos help. We say early what is missing.

  • We confirm the time in the quote, because it depends on how many page types and products are in scope, and whether the store is new or live. A small catalogue and a large one are very different jobs. We agree dates for each stage in writing.

  • Every client and project is different. The cost depends on the effort it takes, so we price after the first call. We publish no price list. You get a written quote within 2 working days, each cost on its own line. The first step is a free growth plan.
