Ahmedabad ads,booked by the rules
Home-grown Gujarati papers, a short list of radio stations and a strict outdoor policy mean the media has to be planned, not just bought. Every ad is counted by the enquiries it brings.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
Pick the paper, the stationand the legal site.
A media plan should be judged by the enquiries it brings, not by the space it fills. PromotEdge plans the media and makes the ads for shops, builders, schools and factories.
Then we book papers, radio, hoardings and metro space, so each media rupee can be matched to the enquiries it brought.
An advertising agency decides what to say and where, makes the ad, buys the space and checks that it ran. Here, three questions matter most. Which Gujarati or English paper? Which radio hours? Does the hoarding follow the city's 2023 outdoor policy?
Our servicing team is based in cities across India and travels for launches and site checks. The method is on our advertising services page; see also the Ahmedabad overview. Buying media in other cities too? See advertising in Delhi NCR and in Mumbai.

The idea and the words
One idea for a Gujarati press ad, a 20-second radio spot and a board seen from a moving car. Our language partners write the Gujarati.
02Newspaper ads
The right paper, edition, size and day, in Gujarati, English or Hindi. We keep the printed page as proof.
03Radio spots
Scripts and hours across the private stations and Akashvani, with a spot list to check.
04Hoardings and unipoles
Sites checked for an AMC licence, the right size for the road and a valid safety certificate.
05Metro, bus shelters and screens
Metro wraps, bus shelter panels and LED screens, with artwork made to each size rule.
06Buying and counting
One media sheet with a reason for each line, and a phone number, QR or offer code per medium.

Five facts that shape an Ahmedabad media plan.
From government lists, AMC's policy and the papers' pages, read on 4 October 2026.
The big Gujarati dailies are old, local and not audited. Sandesh started in 1923 and Gujarat Samachar in 1932, both run from Ahmedabad. Neither is a member of the ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations), which checks copies sold. Divya Bhaskar, launched from Ahmedabad on 22 June 2003, is. So we compare the big two with small test ads.
Six private FM stations, a short list. The government's list of 30 March 2026 shows six in Ahmedabad, against nine in Delhi and eight in Mumbai. Fewer stations means money is spread less thin.
Outdoor follows a 2023 rulebook, and it is enforced. AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) approved its outdoor policy in December 2023. After a Mumbai hoarding fell in May 2024, AMC asked owners of 2,135 hoardings for certificates. In August 2024 the Gujarat High Court was told 84 illegal or unsafe boards had been removed. A site with no licence can come down mid-campaign.
The metro is now ad space. Phase 1 runs 40.03 km with 31 stations. Phase 2 reached Mahatma Mandir, next door in Gandhinagar, on 11 January 2026. In February 2026 a media company won the ad rights on its trains.
The state books space too, and festivals fill it fast. Gujarat's Information Commissionerate places government ads in papers and on hoardings. Dussehra is on 20 October 2026, Diwali on 8 November and Bestu Varas, the Gujarati New Year, on 10 November, after Navratri. These weeks book up first.
Papers, stations and AMC rules, with sources.
| Item | What the source shows | What it means for your plan |
|---|---|---|
| Other papers | ABC list: The Times of India, The Economic Times, Rajasthan Patrika, Gujarat Vaibhav. Ahmedabad Mirror and NavGujarat Samay (launched 16 January 2014) name Shayona Times Private Limited as publisher, 2026. | We confirm owner and rate card before booking. |
| Private FM and Akashvani | FM at 91.1, 93.5, 94.3, 95.0, 98.3 and 104.0 MHz. Vividh Bharati 96.7 MHz: Rs 500, 440 or 330 for 10 seconds by band; Primary, 846 kHz: Rs 660 or 440 (CBC card, 1 June 2017). | Two or three stations at the right hours usually cover the city. Rates are the government's. |
| AMC sites, size, safety | AMC sites go to the highest bidder in an open tender. Boards up to 9.0 x 4.5 m on roads up to 60 m wide, 12.0 x 6.0 m on wider roads, 3 m off the ground. Yearly safety certificate; unipoles preferred. | We check who holds the site, for how long, and the current certificate. |
| Licence rates and bans | AMC's yearly rate per sq m: Rs 1,000 in the East and North zones, up to Rs 4,000 on CG Road; LED Rs 8,000. Banned: heritage buildings, places of worship, flickering displays, tobacco and alcohol. | AMC's rates, not ours. Old-city plans need care. |
| Shelters, vehicles, approval | Shelter ads up to 1.2 m high. Vehicle ads must keep moving, no video. Apply online; AMC visits within 7 days and decides within 30. Unpermitted ads are fined. | Plan a month for a new site. |
Sources as cited, checked 4 October 2026. Rupee figures are AMC's and Akashvani's rates, not PromotEdge prices. Papers and stations are not our partners. General guidance, not legal advice.

A shop or builder leans on papers, radio and boards near the site. A school books before admission season. A factory selling across Gujarat may skip hoardings for trade press and search.
Who sets the rules for advertising in India
ASCI, the Advertising Standards Council of India, is the advertising industry's self-regulatory body, founded in 1985 by advertising and media professionals.

What affects the cost of advertising in Ahmedabad.
No price list. These things move the number.
Media, printing and travel are billed at actual cost, shown to you before you agree.
What affects the cost
- Gujarati, English or both. Each is its own script and layout.
- Papers and days. One edition on two days is small; a state-wide run is not.
- Radio hours. On Akashvani's card the morning and evening band is dearest.
- Outdoor zone. AMC's rate on CG Road is four times its East zone rate.
- Festival weeks. From Navratri to Bestu Varas, good sites are in demand.
- Travel for site checks or a launch, at cost.

Ahmedabad work is run by our servicing team, based in cities across India. We travel for launches and site checks, meet you in Ahmedabad regularly and place our team at your site when a job needs it. Calls, dashboards and monthly reports keep you updated between visits.

Often both. Gujarati copy comes from our language partners, briefed and checked by our team. English papers suit office buyers. Each version is written fresh, not translated word for word. We test both on a small run first and keep what brings more calls.
-
Choose the paper, edition, size and date, and send the artwork before booking closes. We can handle all of it and keep the printed page as proof. Ask the paper for its rate card, and book early for Diwali, when pages fill quickly.
-
Yes, on a site with AMC permission. AMC's 2023 outdoor policy sets size by road width and wants a yearly safety certificate. New sites are decided within 30 days of an online application. General guidance, not legal advice. Ask to see the permit date for the exact site.
-
Now. Dussehra is on 20 October, Diwali on 8 November and Bestu Varas on 10 November 2026. There is still time for papers and radio in October. Permitted hoarding sites for Diwali week go first. Send us your offer and dates this week for a draft plan.
-
We won't claim that title. Ask each agency to show proof that every ad ran, AMC permission for every hoarding, and an enquiry count per medium. Pick one that can. We will show you ours before you sign, with how each medium is counted.
-
Papers and radio work fast: a sharp offer can ring the phone within days. Hoardings and metro ads build memory over weeks. Give a plan two or three rounds. Radio shows an effect sooner than a new hoarding. We confirm the timeline in the quote.
