/ 01 Newspaper ad agency

One desk forevery newspaper ad.

A newspaper ad usually goes wrong at the booking desk: a missed deadline, a rejected file or a wrong edition, and no printed page to show later. PromotEdge books display ads, classifieds, recruitment ads, results and public notices in dailies across India, so your ad runs in the right edition on the right date, with proof.

Who this is for. Companies that book ads for results, hiring, tenders and launches. Listed companies book results notices to a fixed deadline. Real-estate developers book launches and property notices. Healthcare groups and industrial plants book hiring ads and tenders.

The release order is the written booking a paper accepts, with the date, size, position and rate. Most errors start when it does not match the artwork. We believe in process, so a good booking repeats and does not depend on luck. For a wider plan, see media buying and print advertising.

/ 03 Common hurdles

What usually gets in the way,and the way through.

“Every quarter our results ad becomes a last-minute scramble.”

We hold the format, papers and deadline on a calendar and prepare the ad before the board meets.

“The paper rejected our artwork the evening before release.”

Each paper has its own column width and file rules. We resize and check the artwork for every paper, early.

“We paid for colour, but the ad printed in black and white.”

The release order fixes size, colour, position and rate. We check the printed page against it.

“We can't find proof that last year's notice was published.”

You get a tear sheet or e-paper copy of every insertion, filed by date and paper.

“Our hiring ad brought calls from districts we don't recruit in.”

Most dailies sell editions separately. We book only the editions that cover your places.

/ 04 How a booking runs

From briefto tear sheet.

  1. 01

    Brief

What the ad is for, where your readers are, the date or deadline, and any rule the notice must meet.

  2. 02

    Shortlist papers and editions

By language, region and edition, comparing certified circulation from the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC). We say honestly where only older data exists.

  3. 03

    Rates and artwork

Each paper's quoted rate for your written approval. The ad designed once, then resized for each paper.

  4. 04

    Release order and deadline

A release order to each paper, matched to the artwork and sent before its deadline.

  5. 05

    Release and proof

We check the printed or e-paper page, report any error to the paper, and send you a copy of every insertion.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A listed company books to a regulator's deadline. A developer books around launch dates and project notices. A D2C (direct-to-consumer) brand books offers and tracks replies. An exporter or plant books hiring ads and tenders.

  1. Put dates on one calendar. Results, notices and tenders have fixed deadlines that do not move. A booking calendar for the year.
  2. Resize for each paper. Column widths and file rules differ, and a rejected file costs a day. One checked file per paper.
  3. Match the printed page to the release order. Differences in size, colour or edition get fixed faster when raised early. A tear sheet and a short note.
  4. File every insertion by date and paper. An auditor may ask a year later. A proof folder you can open.

Who sets the rules and keeps the numbers

Circulation, agencies and ad standards

The Audit Bureau of Circulation's site shows audited circulation figures, with distribution by state, district and town, for the January to June 2026 audit period. The Indian Newspaper Society, inaugurated in 1939, sets recognition rules for advertising agencies and monitors agency payments to publications. ASCI is an independent self-regulatory organisation that aims to keep advertisements fair, honest and within the ASCI Code.

AI in newspaper advertising: today and next

Today: drafts and labels

AI tools can draft headlines and resize layouts, and someone must still check every fact and every column. ASCI's home page links to its guidelines on labelling AI-generated content in advertising. Read them before an AI-made picture or voice goes into an ad.

/ 05 Cost

What a newspaper ad costs.

We don't publish a price list. Space is charged at each paper's quoted rate, shown before you approve. Design and resizing are a separate line. The quote follows within 2 working days.

What affects the cost

  • The paper and edition: national dailies cost more than district editions
  • Size, colour and the position or page requested
  • The day: weekend and festive days often cost more
  • Number of papers, editions and languages

How we quote

  1. You tell us the message, the papers or cities, and the date the ad must appear.
  2. We check each paper's editions, deadlines and column sizes against your ad.
  3. The quote shows each paper's rate on its own line, before any release order goes out.

What you get in the quote

  • The papers and editions, with the day each ad appears
  • Size, colour and position for each insertion
  • A copy of every insertion as proof

Many papers pay agencies a commission on the space they book. Ask any agency, including us, how it is paid.

/ 06 What happens next

Straight answers.

  • It depends on the paper, edition, size, colour, position and day. A small classified in one district edition and a front-page jacket in a national daily are worlds apart. We show each paper's quoted rate before you approve. For a fuller breakdown, read our newspaper advertisement cost guide.

  • As general guidance, Regulation 47 of SEBI's LODR rules asks for publication within 48 hours of the board meeting. It goes in one English national daily and one daily in the language of the registered office's region, and may be a short ad with a QR code. Your company secretary decides what applies. This is not legal advice.

  • Choose the paper and edition, then send your text or artwork with the date you want. The paper quotes a rate and takes a written release order. We do each step for you. Classifieds can run within a day or two, display ads need a few days, and front-page jackets weeks.

  • A name change notice is a public notice. Your lawyer decides the exact words and which papers and languages it must run in. We set the approved text exactly, book the papers and send you a tear sheet or e-paper copy for your file. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Honestly, current readership figures are thin. The last Indian Readership Survey (IRS) was in 2019, so most readership numbers you see are old. Circulation audited by the ABC is more current, and we also look at each paper's editions and language.

  • Yes. We book English, Hindi and regional-language dailies across India. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and the booking is made with the paper, so it does not depend on where we sit. We meet you in your city at least once every three months. We buy newspaper space through our media partners.

  • Yes. You get a tear sheet or e-paper copy of every insertion, labelled with paper, edition and date. To see whether the ad worked, we add a tracked phone number, email or WhatsApp link, then report the enquiries and the cost per enquiry.
