Mumbai buyers read in several scripts, so one design has to work in a newspaper, on a shop board and on a screen. PromotEdge designs press ads, catalogues, signboards and screen creatives. Clear in every script your buyers read.

One message,many scripts and screens.

Good design lets a buyer get your offer at a glance and know how to call you. PromotEdge designs press ads, catalogues, signboards and screen creatives for Mumbai shops, makers and startups, so that every piece has one job.

Some people search for a creative agency in Mumbai, others for a design agency or an ad design studio. Most want the same thing: what they sell, turned into words and pictures that work in a paper, on a shop front and on a phone. For our approach anywhere in India, see graphic design.

Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and our in-house team of 65+ people does the design. Briefs and proofs run on video calls and shared files, and we meet you in Mumbai at least once every three months. Printing is delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy, or you take our press-ready files to a printer you choose. More on marketing in Mumbai.

/ 03 Designing for Mumbai

What a Mumbai brief needs that others often don't.

Three things shape every design we do for this city.

Scripts. Marathi and Hindi share the Devanagari script, Gujarati has its own, and Urdu runs right to left. So one ad can need three layouts, not one layout with the words swapped.

Boards and screens. The 2022 shops-law change asks for Marathi in Devanagari on shop boards, no smaller than any other language. Screens have city rules, so we use calm motion and strong contrast. General guidance, not legal advice.

Image makers. UNESCO named Mumbai a Creative City of Film in 2019 (Film City's history page). People see polished visuals daily, so each piece stays simple.

Mumbai factWhat the record showsWhat it means for the design
Mother tonguesCensus 2011, Greater Mumbai: Marathi about 35%, Hindi group about 29%, Urdu about 12%, Gujarati about 11%. Thane and Navi Mumbai: about half named Marathi.Pick the lead language by who buys.
Marathi shop boardsSupreme Court order of 25 September 2023. BMC found 84,007 of 87,047 shops (96.50%) had Marathi boards by 31 March 2024; double property tax for the rest from 1 May 2024.Marathi in Devanagari, no smaller than others.
State workThe 2021 amendment to the Official Languages Act covers state ads, tenders, boards, websites and apps.Plan a Marathi version from day one.
Papers with a Mumbai editionAudit Bureau of Circulations members include Loksatta, Daily Sakal, Navbharat Times and The Free Press Journal. Mumbai Samachar (Gujarati) first came out on 1 July 1822.We size each version to the paper you book.
BMC digital screensBMC's 27 November 2025 policy lets malls, commercial buildings and petrol pumps apply for LED ads. Lit boards need a traffic-police NOC. A trade report cites a "3:1 ratio" brightness cap.Slow motion, and a glare check.
PhonesTRAI counted 37.11 million internet subscribers in its Mumbai service area in March 2026, 36.38 million on broadband.Every piece gets a phone version.

/ 05 How a Mumbai design job runs

Brief on a call, proofs on your phone.

  1. 01

    A first call

A video call about your buyers, where the design will appear and your dates.

  2. 02

    Script and size list

Every piece, size and language. For a shop board we note the Marathi rule.

  3. 03

    Design routes

Two or three directions, shown as they will appear. Think creative, then act on numbers.

  4. 04

    Language versions

Each script is laid out on its own, and a native reader checks it.

  5. 05

    Proofs and files

Shared online proofs. Our job is to impress your customers, not you, so we push back on a pick that suits only taste. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A shop leads with the board and local paper. A dealer-led maker needs a catalogue in two scripts. A D2C (direct to customers online) brand designs phone-first, then adapts for print.

  1. List every script and size first. A missing language found late costs a re-layout. A piece, size and language sheet.
  2. Have a native reader check each version. Line breaks and spelling are easy to get wrong. A signed-off proof per script.
  3. Test the main route small. Think creative, then act on numbers. Two routes, one QR code each.

AI in graphic design: today and next

Today: first drafts

Gemini in Google Slides can generate images and slides and rewrite text. Google says it may suggest inaccurate information, so a native reader still checks every script.

Next

Our view: rough layouts will come faster, while Marathi board rules and festival dates still need a person who knows Mumbai. Want us to see where AI saves time on your next job? Ask us.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of graphic design in Mumbai.

We do not share a price list online. Printing, stock photos and media space are billed at actuals and shown before you approve.

What affects the cost

  • Languages: each script is its own layout
  • Pieces and sizes, from a press page to a screen loop
  • Still or moving: an animated loop takes more time
  • Words: written by us, or approved text from you
  • Pictures: your photos, stock, or a new shoot
  • Deadlines before Dussehra or Diwali

How we quote

  1. A video call about who buys, where the design runs and by when
  2. A written scope with each piece, size and language
  3. We send the quote within 2 working days, outside costs listed below

What you get in the quote

  • Every piece, with sizes and languages named
  • Design routes and rounds of changes
  • Press files, screen files and light PDFs

Compare quotes on languages covered, native-reader checks and who keeps the open design files.

/ 07 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Straight answers.

  • We serve Mumbai with a servicing team based in cities across India. Briefs, reviews and sign-offs happen on video calls and shared online proofs. We visit you in Mumbai at least once every three months. When a job needs it, we place our team at your site.

  • Yes. We set the Marathi text in Devanagari, no smaller than any other language on the board, as the 2022 change to the shops law asks. We design the artwork and your sign maker builds the board. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • English, Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and Urdu, and more on request. Language partners write the words and our designers lay them out. Each script gets its own layout, because letter height, width and direction differ. A native reader checks every version.

  • Both names fit. Many people search for a creative agency in Mumbai when they need ads and print designed. Our writers and designers work on each job together, so your press ads, posts and store graphics look like one brand.

  • Usually, if you start now. Dussehra falls on 20 October 2026 and Laxmi Pujan on 8 November 2026 (Maharashtra holiday list). Papers and printers get busy before both, so press files come first. We check the printer's proof with you before the full run.

  • We confirm the timeline in the quote. For press ads and festive posts, count calls, walk-ins and messages in the weeks around the campaign, with a QR code per ad. A new signboard or brand look builds trust slowly, over months.

  • We won't claim that title, because no one can prove it. A fairer test: ask to see printed work and live screen ads, not only mock-ups. Ask who will design your job. Check how each studio handles Marathi and Gujarati, and how the team works with you.
