A website is not a poster. It needs looking after.

A website can break quietly. Maybe a plugin update broke your contact form last month and nobody noticed for two weeks.

PromotEdge looks after company sites and online stores, so your site stays up, loads fast and keeps bringing enquiries.

Choose this over our wider website design and development service when your site works today and you want it to keep working. It is not hosting, and it is not SEO (search engine optimisation). If a rebuild is wiser than another round of patches, we say so.

/ 03 What usually gets in the way

Where sites quietly slip, and the way through.

“Nobody can say when the site was last updated.”

WordPress updates plugins and themes by itself only in special cases its security team decides; the rest waits for a person. We apply each waiting update on a test copy first.

“A customer told us the contact form was not working.”

A form can fail after an update. Each month we test every form, call and WhatsApp button, end to end.

“The site was quick at launch. Now it crawls.”

Plugins and big images add weight. We check main pages monthly and remove what slows them.

“The browser shows "not secure", or Google shows spam links.”

An expired certificate or a break-in. Certificates will expire sooner: the CA/Browser Forum's ballot SC-081v3 cuts their maximum life from 398 days to 47, from March 2026 to March 2029. We clean up and set renewal alerts.

“The person who built it has gone, and we don't have the logins.”

We list every account and move each into your company's name.

“Every small change takes days.”

You send a request; we reply in the agreed time.

/ 05 How we work

Taking over a site usually takesabout two weeks.

  1. 01

    Week 1: the health check

We list every account and renewal date, test forms, measure speed, and ask your sales team which enquiries were real.

  2. 02

Weeks 1 to 2: fix what is urgent

Backup first, always. Then critical updates and security fixes on a copy. If the site is beyond saving, we say so.

  3. 03

Week 2: set up the watch

Uptime alerts, backups with a restore test, a renewal calendar, the lead-path test.

  4. 04

    Every month: the care cycle

The same checks, then one plain report. Good results should repeat, not happen by luck.

  5. 05

    When something breaks

Response times are written in an SLA (service level agreement), confirmed in the quote. A site that is down comes first.

  6. 06

    Every quarter: a short review

Speed, search and leads side by side. We test one improvement and scale it only if it works.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

An online store needs closer watching than a brochure site, because a down hour costs orders. A firm selling to businesses needs the lead-path test most. A publisher or school needs fast updates. Platform changes the plan too: WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce or custom code.

  1. Back up before touching anything. Then any update can be undone. A backup you can restore.
  2. Update on a test copy first. A bad update then never reaches visitors. A monthly update log.
  3. Test the whole lead path. A form can send an email and still lose the lead. A test record for your sales team.
  4. Keep every login in your name. You are never stuck when a vendor leaves. One access list.

AI in website maintenance: today and next

Today

Jetpack says you can connect Claude or ChatGPT to your WordPress site to review what is published and fix what is wrong. It says agent access is off until you turn it on, never gets more than your own WordPress permissions, has separate read and write toggles, and that writes wait for your confirmation.

Next

Our view: AI will speed up routine checks, so the human job becomes judging what is safe to change. We would keep the same rules: backup first, limited rights, a person confirms. Want us to look at yours? Ask us.

Not sure whether you need care or a rebuild? Tell us what keeps breaking and we will say so plainly. Talk to us

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost ofwebsite maintenance.

A small company site and a busy store are different jobs, so each is quoted against a written scope. Hosting, domain, paid plugins and certificates are billed at actuals.

What affects the cost

  • The platform: WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce or custom code
  • Pages, plugins and integrations to look after
  • Traffic, and what the hosting needs
  • How fast you need a reply when something breaks
  • Small changes expected each month, and any extra work the health check finds

How we quote

  1. A first call about your site and what worries you
  2. A health check of the live site, with a short report
  3. A written monthly plan: what is covered, and what costs extra

What you get in the quote

  • The checks and updates, named one by one
  • Response times, and what counts as critical
  • The monthly allowance for small changes
  • Third-party costs apart, and who owns each login

Comparing quotes? Ask what counts as a small change, how fast each issue gets a reply and whether restore tests are included.

/ 07 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

A typical website takes 4 to 6 weeks. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

No pressure. No sales pitch.

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • Updates, backups, security checks, uptime alerts, speed checks and lead-path tests, plus a small allowance for content changes and one monthly report. Updates cover WordPress core, plugins and themes, and backups come with a restore test. The full list is written into your plan, so you know what is covered and what costs extra.

  • It depends on the platform, pages, plugins, traffic and how fast you need a reply when something breaks. We quote in writing after a health check of your live site. Ongoing work has a 3-month minimum, then 30 days' notice. You keep your accounts, logins and files.

  • Alerts run all day and most care is monthly. On WordPress, plugins and themes mostly wait for a person to update them, and SSL certificates need renewing more often than they used to. A busy store needs closer watching than a brochure site, so the plan reflects your traffic.

  • We get an alert, take a backup, find the way in, clean the site and close it. Critical issues come first, and the response time is written in your plan. Afterwards we tell you plainly what happened, what we fixed and what we changed so it does not repeat.

  • Usually yes. A health check first shows us both what we are taking on, covering accounts, plugins, speed and forms, and we say so if the site is badly built. For projects we think we can help, the audit is free. You decide whether to continue after reading it.

  • You deal with one named contact. Our in-house team of 65+ people does the work, with consultants and partner agencies where a job needs them. The same person sends your monthly report, so you always know who to call when something looks wrong on your site.

  • Good maintenance is quiet, so we show the log each month: updates done, test enquiries, speed and alerts. A quarterly review puts speed, search and leads side by side. Judge us on this log and on whether your enquiries keep arriving, not on promises.

  • Yes. Maintenance runs online, through admin access you grant and can remove. Our servicing team is based in cities across India and visits regularly, so a company in your city gets the same checks and monthly report as any other site, without needing a local vendor.
