A shopper decides in a few steps whether to walk in, so the sign has to earn the glance. Words, permission and weather sorted before a single sheet is cut.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
A shop sign has a few steps to win a shopper, so a short name, one clear line and lighting that survives the rains matter more than size. PromotEdge designs shop signs, in-store branding and dealer boards, and gets them made and fitted.
On a Gariahat pavement or in a New Market lane, a shopper passes dozens of boards in a few steps. The one that gets read has a short name and one line on what you sell.
We look at your business first and the sign second: where buyers come from, what they see first, where they decide to step in. Then we size the fascia and write the words.
Fabrication, fitting and site photos come with the design and checks, delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy. Our India-wide approach is on the signage and retail branding page, with ACP sign boards for fascias.
ACP, acrylic and metal-letter fascias, readable across the road.

Shelf strips, wall graphics, counter units and window displays.
Store signs and fit-out graphics drawn to each mall's rules.
One approved design, sized for each counter, photographed once fitted.

Four local facts decide what your signage should look like and when it should go up.
New stores pick the high street. High streets took 94% of Kolkata's retail leasing in Q3 2026, says Cushman & Wakefield, which names Theatre Road, Camac Street, Gariahat and Rajarhat as prime corridors. At those rents, a fascia nobody notices wastes money daily.
Old markets run on trade buyers. New Market opened in 1874 and has over 3,000 shops. Burrabazar's wholesale lanes restock shopkeepers across Bengal. Where boards overlap, say what you stock, in the buyer's script.
KMC has a say. A large, lit or projecting sign may need the corporation's permission. We check each one with the landlord and KMC, and settle who files and who pays any tax in writing, before it is made.
Weather and peaks set the calendar. July and August are the wettest months, and Puja and Poila Boishakh are the big shopping rushes. Get signs up before either.
| Where or what | What the records show | What it means for your sign |
|---|---|---|
| Malls | ANAROCK said South City Mall sees 55,000 to 60,000 visitors a day (PTI, June 2025). | The mall sets the outside sign; in-store branding has to do the selling. |
| Durga Puja 2026 | Saptami to Dashami fall on 18 to 21 October, after Mahalaya on 10 October. | Design in July, fit by early September. |
| Poila Boishakh | A 2022 PTI report put its run-up at about a third of shopkeepers' yearly sales. In 2026 it fell on 15 April. | Refresh boards in March. |

Sizes, wall, power points, landlord or mall rules. We can't do magic alone: the faster you send photos and approvals, the faster the sign goes up.
Name, one line on what you sell, the right script, mocked up on your shopfront.
Who applies to KMC or the mall, who pays any tax, and drawings you approve.
Made and fitted within the PromotEdge group; heavy pieces go up at night. Dated photos prove every sign.

A single shop needs one good board. A brand with dealers needs one approved design, sized for each counter. A franchise needs boards that look the same on every street. A mall store follows the mall's rules.
Bishal Naskar, our Client Servicing Executive, does the daily follow-ups on approvals while your sign is made.
For Puja 2026 KMC asked organisers to apply to its Advertisement Department, and approved hoardings had to show the permission ID. On 19 June 2025 the Calcutta High Court held that KMC cannot levy advertisement tax under Section 204 without framed Regulations or a budget estimate. We settle permission and any tax in writing.

Medium and heavy goods vehicles carrying non-essential items face daytime limits in Kolkata, outside the port area, and the Calcutta High Court declined to interfere. So big frames travel and go up at night.

Alipore's normals are 387.8 mm in July and 369.9 mm in August. An IMD journal article says nor'westers, or Kaalbaisakhi, occur mainly in April and May. So we specify sealed boxes and rust-proof frames.

Google's help page says Gemini can edit parts of an image you upload and add text to images with more accurate spelling in supported languages. That can sketch a sign on your shop photo. It also lists age and daily-quota limits.

Our view: sketches will come faster. Whether the name reads from across a lane, and whether the wall can hold the frame, is still checked on the street. Want us to try it on your front? Ask us.
Opening several stores or dealer counters? Ask about one design, sized for every counter. Talk to us
We do not publish a price list, because a single fascia and a rollout across many stores are very different jobs. Fabrication, fitting and any permission costs are quoted per sign and billed at actuals.
Fabrication quotes name material and size line by line, so you can compare them with a local workshop.
For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

Priyam GhoseContent CreatorWe do. We work from Suite 508, Ambuja Neotia Eco Centre, Sector V, Salt Lake. Our team measures frontages and reviews mock-ups from here, and we are happy to meet you at your store, showroom or office, whichever suits you.
It can. For Puja 2026 KMC's Advertisement Department asked for permission and a permission ID on hoardings, and advertisement tax falls under Section 204 of the KMC Act. Whether your sign is caught depends on size, position and wording, so we check first.
Have signs fitted by early September, which means design in July. Puja buying starts well before Mahalaya, which falls on 10 October in 2026. Workshops fill up in August, so late orders get rushed, and a rushed sign is rarely a good one.
We plan rollouts from Kolkata: one approved design, a size survey for each counter, and a dated photo of every board once fitted. Our team and partners come to you, so tell us the districts when you brief us. We agree the districts in the quote.
Yes. Our language partners write shop-sign copy in Bengali, Hindi and English. In Burrabazar a Hindi line may matter most; on Camac Street, English may. Census 2011 lists Bengali, Hindi and Urdu as Kolkata district's main languages, so we choose the script by street.
Material and care matter more than the price tag. Sealed light boxes, powder-coated frames and UV-stable prints cope far better with four months of monsoon and the spring storms. We check fixings each February and after storms, and keep a spare.
Count walk-ins, store calls or bills for a month before and after the sign goes up. Dealer boards get a QR code or a dealer-specific number, so each board can be traced. We keep dated photos of every sign to compare.
