Screens thatearn their power bill.

A screen is only worth its power bill when the people it is meant for stop and watch. PromotEdge plans screen campaigns at Kolkata's airport, in the Metro and on main roads, and sets up LED walls for events and shopfronts.

There are three ways to use LED screens in this city. Buy time on someone else's screen, hire a wall for an event, or fix a screen to your own shop. Buying is about audience and loop. Hiring is about pixel pitch and set-up hours. Owning is about power and permission.

We plan screen hire, rigging and content operation with our in-house team, with industry consultants and partner agencies where a job needs them. Delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy, with a strategic alliance with Xtreme Media for sales, service and spares in East India. Our national active LED display screens page covers specifications, and DOOH (digital out-of-home) advertising covers screen media bought by the slot.

/ 03 How screens work in Kolkata

Concessions, tenders and big venues.

Most prime screen spots here belong to whoever won a contract. Here is who sells what.

The airport is a single concession. In August 2021 AAI gave one company exclusive advertising rights at Kolkata airport for seven years, over 14,700 sq ft, with digital screen networks among the media. We confirm today's holder and rate card before quoting.

Metro advertising is sold by tender. A 2018 Metro Railway tender put commercial advertising rights at its premises out for ten years. Screens inside stations come through the rights holder, not straight from the railway.

Big venues want big walls. Hall 1 at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre (BBCC) seats 3,000 in front of a 100 x 65 ft stage. Salt Lake Stadium holds 85,000. Each calls for its own pitch, brightness and rigging plan.

Rules and weather still bite. We treat a screen that shows ads to the street as an advertisement, and settle KMC permission and tax before it goes up. Outdoor cabinets need wind bracing for the nor'westers of March to May and sealed housings for the rains.

/ 05 How a Kolkata screen job runs

From audienceto play log.

  1. 01

    Choose the route (week 1)

Airtime, hire or own, decided by who must see it and for how long. We check the rights and KMC for anything facing the street.

  2. 02

    Spec the screen (weeks 1-2)

Pixel pitch for the viewing distance, brightness for day or night, size for the stage or wall.

  3. 03

    Make the content (weeks 2-3)

Short spots for roads, longer loops for lobbies, stage content timed to the running order.

  4. 04

    Install and test

Cabinets trucked at night, rigged, backed up and test-run.

  5. 05

    Prove and report

What can't be measured can't be achieved, so you get play logs, dated clips of the screen live and enquiries tracked by QR.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A retailer owns a shopfront screen. A launch brand hires a wall for the day. A national brand buys airtime on main corridors. A B2B (business-to-business) exhibitor puts screens in its stall.

  1. Choose airtime, hire or own first. Each route is bought, specced and permitted differently. A one-page route note.
  2. Check who holds the rights. A slot sold by the wrong party is money lost. The current holder and rate card.
  3. Spec the screen for the viewer. Pitch follows viewing distance, brightness follows daylight. A written spec.
  4. Cut content to the slot. A driver gives a few seconds, a lobby gives longer. One message per spot.
  5. Log every play. What can't be measured can't be achieved. Play logs and dated clips.

Go deeper: tenders and the Puja ad season

Metro tender terms

The 2018 tender evaluated bids on a rate per square foot per year for each station site, and asked bidders for at least two years of commercial advertising experience. Rights go to the winner, so the winner sells the screens.

Puja ad season

Storyboard18 reported Puja ad spends in 2025 estimated to rise 10 to 15%. For regional Bengal and Eastern brands, Pujo can take as much as 25 to 30% of yearly marketing outlay. Expect a scramble for slots, so book early.

AI in LED screen content: today and next

Today: rough loops

Adobe says Firefly can make video clips from text or still images. We use that kind of tool for rough storyboards of a screen loop. The real product shot and the phone number still come from your files.

Today: a label when AI could mislead

ASCI's guidelines ask for a label where AI content materially influences a buyer, such as a synthetic ambassador, and say routine edits need none. They take effect three months after publication.

Source: ASCI, Guidelines for Responsible Labelling of Synthetically Generated Content in Advertising, 17 September 2026, read 11 October 2026

Next

Our view: loops will be cut faster. Checking the claim, the label and the permission stays with people. Want us to look at your next campaign? Ask us.

/ 06 Cost

What LED screens in Kolkata cost.

We do not publish a price list, because a day of hired wall at a hall and a month of airtime at the airport are priced in different ways. Media, screen hire and rigging are billed at actuals. We send the quote within 2 working days.

What affects the cost

  • Airtime: site, slot length, share of the loop and number of days
  • Hire: wall size, pixel pitch, indoor or outdoor rating, days on site
  • Rigging, power backup and night transport
  • Content: number of cuts, languages and resolution
  • Venue charges, and any permission or tax for a street-facing screen

How we quote

  1. Tell us if you want airtime on existing screens, a wall for an event, or a screen of your own.
  2. We confirm the site, the rights holder or hire vendor, and what each one charges.
  3. You get a quote with our planning on one line and media or hire at actuals.

What you get in the quote

  • For airtime: the site, slot length and days
  • For hire: wall size, pixel pitch and days on site
  • Rigging, power backup, content cuts and night transport

A finer pitch than the viewing distance needs costs more and shows detail nobody will notice.

We're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.

Planning screens in Kolkata?

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • Ours is in Sector V, Salt Lake: Suite 508, Ambuja Neotia Eco Centre. We visit venues and roadside sites in person before we spec an LED screen, so the pitch, brightness and mounting match the place where people will watch it.

  • Yes, through the airport's concession holder. AAI awarded the advertising rights as one seven-year exclusive in August 2021, and that covers the digital screen networks. We buy screen time through our media partners. We check who holds it now and what a slot costs before it goes into your plan.

  • We plan the LED wall and arrange the hire with our in-house team, with industry consultants and partner agencies where a job needs them. For any hire we match pitch, brightness and size to the room: a 3,000-seat hall like BBCC's Hall 1 needs a very different wall from a small showroom.

  • A rough rule: the pitch in millimetres should be no more than the closest viewing distance in metres. Front rows 4 metres away want about 4 mm or finer; a roadside screen read from 30 metres can be far coarser.

  • Plan as if it does. KMC has an Advertisement Department, and we treat a screen showing ads to the street as an advertisement. Permission and any advertisement tax are settled with you and your landlord before installation. Hoardings follow similar rules; see outdoor advertising in Kolkata.

  • Two to three months ahead. Storyboard18 estimated a 10 to 15% rise in Puja ad spends in 2025, so expect a scramble for slots. In 2026 the main days are 18 to 21 October. Screen content in Bengali, Hindi or English is written by our language partners and checked by our team.
