Catalogues thattake orders.

A catalogue does its job when a buyer can understand your range and place an order without a salesperson in the room. PromotEdge plans, writes and designs product catalogues, export brochures, price lists and company profiles for jewellers, leather and garment makers, tea and jute firms and wholesalers.

A good catalogue keeps selling long after the meeting ends. If the product codes are wrong, the photos are flat or the price list is a season old, it loses you orders quietly.

So we begin with how your buyers order. Do they pick by design number, weight, price band or minimum order quantity (MOQ, the smallest lot you will sell)? Do they read print or a PDF on a phone? We know digital inside out, and we think like an Indian business. Printing is delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy.

If the brand needs work first, start with brand identity. For more design, see graphic design in Kolkata and PromotEdge in Kolkata.

/ 03 Who needs catalogues in Kolkata

A city of makers, traders and exporters.

Jewellery, leather, garments, tea, jute and steel are sold through catalogues here.

Exporters. The district's export plan lists clusters for leather in Topsia and Janbazar, and for electrical fans, book printing, hosiery and readymade garments. An overseas buyer judges these firms by their catalogue before a sample is sent, so photos, specifications and English must be right.

Wholesale. The state's export plan calls Burrabazar among India's biggest and oldest wholesale hubs, with sub-markets such as Khangrapatti, Sonapatti, Masalapatti and Lohapatti. Here a catalogue is a range book and price list that travels on WhatsApp. Poila Boishakh, when traders open new Haal Khata ledgers, is a natural date for a fresh one.

Show days. Catalogues change hands fastest at trade fairs. Kolkata had the ILPA International Leather Fair in October 2025 and the Bengal International Jewellery Show in November 2025; East India Print & Pack runs from 27 to 29 November 2026. Yours should be the one still on the desk a week later.

/ 05 How a catalogue gets made

From range listto printed copy.

  1. 01

    Range and reader

Which products go in, who reads it, and how they place an order.

  2. 02

    Flatplan

A page-by-page plan: sections, products per page, and where codes and prices sit, agreed before any design.

  3. 03

    Photos and content

New shoots, or your images cleaned up, and every specification checked against your price list.

  4. 04

    Design, proofs and print

Master pages first, then the full catalogue. A printed proof before the run, and a light PDF for WhatsApp.

  5. 05

    Next season

Prices change, so we keep the files in order. A new edition is an update, not a rebuild.

Tell us what’s not working. We’ll send you an honest one-page growth plan, free.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A dealer-led B2B (business-to-business) maker needs codes, MOQs and terms. An exporter needs units, certificates and shipping terms. A wholesaler needs prices that change without a redesign. A D2C (direct-to-customer) brand needs product stories and a light mobile edition.

  1. Start from how buyers order. A buyer who picks by weight needs weight on every page. A flatplan.
  2. Check every code and price against your list. A wrong code loses an order quietly. A sign-off sheet.
  3. Make a light PDF beside the print. Many traders share ranges on WhatsApp every day. Two editions from one file.
  4. Keep the files ready for next season. Prices change, and a rebuild costs weeks. A new edition as an update.

AI in catalogue design: today and next

Today: Google

Google says Gemini in Docs can help you draft and refine content, needs an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan, and asks you to review suggested changes before accepting them. We use it for first drafts of product copy only. Every specification is checked against your price list.

Next

Our view: first drafts will get faster. Codes, weights, prices and photos stay with people who hold your price list. Want us to show where AI could save time on your catalogue? Ask us.

We're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.

/ 06 Cost

What a catalogue in Kolkata costs.

We do not publish a price list for catalogues and brochures. Design is quoted against a written scope. Printing is quoted separately and shown to you before the run.

What affects the cost

  • Number of pages, and how many products sit on each
  • Photography: a new shoot, or your current images retouched
  • Writing: copy and specifications by us, or text you supply
  • Editions: an English export edition, plus a Hindi or Bengali trade edition
  • Print run, paper, binding and finishes such as foil

How we quote

  1. You send your product list, any old catalogue and a few lines on who reads it.
  2. We write a scope with the page plan, editions and languages, and send the quote within 2 working days.

What you get in the quote

  • Page plan and layout for every edition
  • A printed proof before the full run
  • A light PDF for WhatsApp and email
  • The written rate for paper, binding and finish

Ask any agency whether its quote includes photography, proofs and GST. A cheap design fee followed by costly reprints is no saving.

/ 07 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Straight answers.

  • Yes. Come to us in Salt Lake's Sector V, or we will visit your showroom, factory or Burrabazar shop to see the range. Handling the products in person saves a round of changes later. We also meet on video when that is easier for your team.

  • Yes. Through our language partners we write catalogue copy in English, Hindi and Bengali. Export catalogues usually run in English. Trade editions for dealers in Bengal often do better in Bengali or Hindi, and each language gets its own layout.

  • It depends most on how ready your content is. With photos and a final price list in hand, plan for four to six weeks from flatplan to printed copies for 24 to 40 pages. A new shoot adds time. For a trade show, start two months ahead. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • Usually both. Print works at trade fairs and in buyer meetings, where it stays on the desk. A light PDF works on WhatsApp and email, which is how many traders share their ranges every day. We design once and produce both.

  • Yes. We prepare the press-ready files and manage paper, binding and finishing. You see a printed proof before the full run, and the print rate is shown to you before you approve it. The light PDF for WhatsApp comes from the same files.

  • It depends on page count, photography, writing and printing. A four-page brochure is a small job, and a 40-page catalogue with a new shoot is a large one. We quote against a written scope, with print at actuals. Compare quotes on the same scope.
