A good jokeshould still sell.

A meme that earns likes and no sales is a joke you paid for. PromotEdge makes on-brand memes for Indian brands with young buyers, so the people who share the joke also remember you and buy.

We usually see posts that read like a brochure, or one meme that went round and led nowhere. Memes suit D2C brands, restaurants and gaming. Healthcare brands should go slowly, because of the ad rules. Brands in industrial manufacturing and real estate can use memes sparingly, mostly on LinkedIn.

A meme is one format inside your social media marketing, and works well beside influencer marketing. Want us to look at your feed? Ask for a free plan.

/ 03 Common hurdles

What usually gets in the way,and the way through.

“Our posts look like a brochure, and nobody shares them.”

People share what makes them look funny or smart. We find the jokes your buyers already make and give your brand a place in them.

“We tried a meme once. It got likes and nothing else.”

Every post gets a link, a code or a reason to follow, so we can see who came through.

“A meme page quoted a big fee for one post.”

Followers are not proof. We ask for the page's own audience data and check for bought followers.

“Someone on our team makes memes from film scenes.”

A film still is part of the film's copyright. We build original templates or use images you own or have licensed.

“Our legal team worries a joke will count as a false claim.”

The 2022 consumer ad guidelines allow an obvious joke. The facts in the caption must still be true. We check both.

“A post went wrong and the comments are angry.”

We agree no-go topics first. If one misfires, we reply calmly, take it down if needed and say sorry plainly.

/ 05 How we start

First memes livein about three weeks.

Planning guidance, not a promise. We can't do magic alone: the faster you approve, the sooner memes go live.

  1. 01

    Week 1: listen

We read your comments and DMs and agree no-go topics.

  2. 02

Weeks 1 to 2: voice and templates

The voice guide and first original templates, signed off by you.

  3. 03

    Week 2: approval route

Who approves within hours, and how we check rights and claims.

  4. 04

Weeks 2 to 3: test on your page

Ten to fifteen memes show which formats get shared and saved.

  5. 05

Weeks 3 to 4: meme page pilot

Two or three pages, each with its own link, code and ad label.

  6. 06

    Every month: keep what sells

We drop pages that bring likes but no visits. What can't be measured can't be achieved.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A D2C brand can put a code on every meme and count orders. A dealer-led B2B firm uses memes sparingly, on LinkedIn, about shared work problems. A brand sold on marketplaces or quick-commerce apps can time memes to sale days.

  1. Listen before we post. The jokes your buyers already make are safer than ours. A list of jokes and no-go topics.
  2. Build original templates. You own them, so no film-still or rights worries. A template library.
  3. Put a code on every page. Likes cannot tell you which page sold. Visits and sales per page.
  4. Pilot small, then scale. Two or three pages show who really reaches your buyers. A keep-or-drop list each month.

AI in meme marketing: today and next

Today: video and image tools

Adobe says Firefly can make video clips from text or still images, and its outputs carry Content Credentials, which show how a file was made.

The rule for AI faces

ASCI's influencer guidelines say a virtual influencer must tell people, upfront and prominently, that it is not a real human. Use that for any AI character in a meme.

Who sets the rules

ASCI calls itself an independent, voluntary self-regulatory organisation that aims to keep advertising in India truthful and fair.

Our view: first drafts and format ideas will keep getting faster. The joke, the timing and the rights check stay with people. Want us to try it on one month of posts? Ask us.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of meme marketing.

No price list. These things move the number.

We don't publish a price list. Meme page fees and ad spend are third-party costs, paid at actuals and shown before you approve.

What affects the cost

  • Memes a month, and how many are video
  • Original templates and drawings, or simpler formats
  • Trend-post speed and number of approvers
  • Meme page partnerships: pages, size, posts
  • Licence fees for clips, music or images
  • Tracking set-up and report depth

How we quote

  1. We ask who you want to reach and what a follow or sale is worth
  2. We study your handles and the pages your buyers follow
  3. We write the scope: memes, trend posts, approvals, page tests
  4. You get a quote within 2 working days, each cost on its own line

What you get in the quote

  • Memes a month, with video counted
  • Trend posts and approval steps
  • Meme page partnerships, named
  • Tracking and a monthly report

Ongoing work has a 3-month minimum, then 30 days' notice. Compare quotes on cost per follow and per sale.

/ 07 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

Straight answers.

  • No. It works best for food, fashion, apps, gaming, education and other D2C (direct-to-consumer) brands with young, online buyers. B2B brands can use it sparingly on LinkedIn. For older buyers or a serious category, a clear, helpful voice does more. Test for a month and count the visits.

  • Yes, if the page gets money or free products from you. ASCI (the Advertising Standards Council of India) asks for a clear, upfront label such as Ad or Paid Partnership. The brand is responsible too. General guidance, not legal advice, so your lawyer should confirm.

  • Be careful. Under the Copyright Act, 1957, a film's copyright includes stills, and fair dealing rarely covers a brand's ad. The 2022 CCPA guidelines also bar mocking a person without permission. We use original or licensed material. Not legal advice; your lawyer should confirm.

  • Health, finance, alcohol, tobacco and real-money gaming brands. ASCI expects health and finance influencers to state qualifications, and the 2022 CCPA guidelines ban surrogate ads. Any brand should avoid religion, caste, politics and tragedy. Your legal team confirms what applies before anything goes live.

  • We judge the work on profile visits, follows, link clicks, sign-ups and sales, traced through tagged links and a code for each page, plus brand-name searches. If a page brings likes but no visits, we stop paying it. You see all of it in a monthly report.

  • We won't claim to be the best. Ask each agency how it checks a meme page's real audience, who pays if a post breaks a rule, and how it traces a meme to a sale. Ask us the same, then compare the answers in writing.

  • Yes. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, so your city does not limit the work. Memes are made online, we follow your region's festivals and language, and we meet you in your city at least once every three months, and the rest runs online.

  • One account lead answers to you. Our in-house team of 65+ people does the work, with consultants and partner agencies where a job needs them. No published case of ours is a meme project, so we share relevant social work in your category when we meet.
