Advertising agencyfor Guwahati
Newspapers, radio, TV news and hoardings each reach a different Assam buyer, so the medium must follow the buyer. Picked by who buys from you, then checked against what came back.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
Ads in the right language, counted in calls.
An ad in the wrong language or the wrong paper pays to reach people who will never buy. PromotEdge plans and books newspaper, radio, TV news and outdoor campaigns for Assam businesses, then checks every release against calls and sales.
Mainline advertising, or ATL (above the line), means mass media: newspapers, radio, TV and big hoardings. It still works here. A saree shop near Paltan Bazaar and a cement dealer network in Upper Assam need different papers and words.
We'd rather show you results than a nice presentation, so the plan starts with what each rupee of media must bring back.
Our servicing team in Guwahati plans and writes with you, with planning support from the wider PromotEdge team. See the advertising services page and the Guwahati overview.

Many readers, few stations, strict streets.
Five facts change how an advertising plan for Guwahati is built.
The press is split by language. In Census 2011, 48.38% of Assam named Assamese as their mother tongue, about 28.9% Bengali and 6.73% Hindi, as reported by Northeast Now. The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) lists three English papers and two Assamese ones with a Guwahati edition. No current readership figures are public, so we never quote one.
One booking can reach well past the city. The Sentinel, launched in 1983, prints five English editions: Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Shillong, Silchar and Itanagar. For a brand selling in Upper Assam or Meghalaya, the edition matters as much as the paper.
A short radio dial. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting lists four private FM stations in Guwahati as of 30 March 2026. Akashvani adds a Guwahati channel on 729 kHz and Vividh Bharati on 100.8 MHz, plus stations in other Assam towns. So a city radio plan stays small, and Akashvani reaches the towns.
TV news is made in Guwahati. News Live works from Christian Basti, and Pratidin Time started in 2015. We plan TV on ratings data at the time of booking, not on old numbers.
Outdoor rules are strict in parts and unfinished in others. Since 1 December 2023, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has banned ads for tobacco, gutkha, pan masala and alcohol inside its limits. The 2017 outdoor guidelines were still not final in June 2025. So we check each site's permission on paper before you pay.

| Medium or rule | What the record shows | How we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Akashvani rates (government card, not ours) | Guwahati 729 kHz: ₹500 gross per 10-second spot in category I. Vividh Bharati: ₹280. Card in force since 1 June 2017. | Useful for a first budget. We confirm current rates before booking. |
| Hoardings (marketplace-listed rates, not ours) | A media marketplace listed (4 October 2026) a front-lit site at Ganeshguri from ₹1,333 a day, and one at Jalukbari Junction at ₹2,340 (₹2,000 on offer). Printing and mounting cost extra. | A rough guide only. Real rates depend on size, months and the owner. |
| Permission on every board | Since April 2010, GMC asks for its permission number and the agency's name on every hoarding. Since July 2026, unauthorised posters draw a ₹5,000 fine. | No number on the board, no booking from us. We don't fly-post. |
| Festival dates | Bohag Bihu holidays were 14-16 April 2026. Kati Bihu and Durga Puja fall on 18-21 October 2026, Diwali on 8 November. | Each date gets its own message and booking deadline. |

How we deliver it, and why
How your business model changes the plan
A retailer needs reminders before each festival, mostly in the city. A dealer network in Upper Assam needs the right district edition and Akashvani. A school or training centre needs the same local trust as any education brand. A tea brand selling packs has its own plan; see tea and agribusiness.
- Pick the language before the medium. An Assamese buyer and a Bengali buyer read different papers. A buyer and language map.
- Write rates down for every line. Media prices differ by edition, day and owner. A plan with a rate beside each paper, station and site.
- See the permission number before you pay. The city's outdoor rules are strict, and an unpermitted site wastes the spend. A site list with numbers checked.
- Count calls and offer codes by medium. Reach alone does not show what paid. A monthly report and money moved to what works.
AI in advertising: today and next
Today: Google
Google says text and Shopping ads from Search, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns can show within AI Overviews. Within AI Overviews it is limited to English, in a list of countries that includes India. Performance Max reaches YouTube, Display, Search, Discover, Gmail and Maps from one campaign.
Source: Google Ads Help, read 10 October 2026
Today: Assamese
Google's help page lists Assamese, Bengali and Hindi among the languages of the Gemini web app. That helps with first drafts of a script. A native reader still checks every line before it is printed or aired.

Our view: AI will speed up drafts, but press, radio and hoardings still need a person to check language, rates and permission. Want us to look at yours? Ask us.

The one your buyers read, in their language. Assamese homes read papers such as Asomiya Pratidin, Dainik Janambhumi or Niyomiya Barta. Business buyers often read the English papers. There are no public readership figures, so we decide on edition, rate and past response, and test small first.

Guwahati Municipal Corporation's permission, applied for through the Sewa Setu portal. Since 2010 the permission number and the agency's name must be shown on the board. Tobacco, gutkha, pan masala and alcohol ads have been banned inside city limits since December 2023. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

Yes. Through our language partners we write ads in Assamese, Bengali, Hindi and English, and our team briefs and checks each one. An Assamese or Bengali ad should be written for its reader, not translated word for word, so the offer and tone survive.

In 2026, Kati Bihu and Durga Puja fall on 18 to 21 October and Diwali on 8 November. Good press positions, radio slots and sites go first, so plan six to eight weeks ahead. For Bohag Bihu in April, start in January. A festive offer also needs a page to land on: website development in Guwahati covers that.
