Dehradun advertising,for locals and visitors
Dehradun has three audited Hindi dailies, one private FM station, Akashvani and outdoor rules from 2009, so every booking must earn its place. PromotEdge plans the list with you. Each booking gets its own call count.
A strategist calls you in one working day.
Ads for the valley, and for everyone driving through.
Advertising in Uttarakhand's capital city has to reach two crowds at once, the people who live in the valley and the visitors driving through. PromotEdge plans and books Hindi press, radio, outdoor and online ads for Dehradun's hotels, schools, shops and builders, so that residents and visitors both hear of you.
Where your plan is made. We have worked since 2015, and our servicing team is based in cities across India. An in-house team of 65+ writes your Dehradun plan, mostly online, in hybrid mode. You will see us in the city at least once a quarter.
How we would begin. Small, and with a way to count: one Hindi paper, two weeks of radio and a separate phone number for each. Then you and we read the calls, and the money moves to what worked. Already running ads? Ask for our free plan: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists and a one-page plan.
Our general method is on the advertising service page, and the city picture is in the Dehradun overview. When a job needs it, a team member works from your site.
- 2015working with Indian brands since
- 65+in-house team: strategy, creative, media and tech
- 4pillars under one roof: strategy, advertising, digital, on-ground activation (BTL)
- 6cities: head office in Kolkata, teams in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Guwahati and Bhubaneswar
Six pieces of work, one Dehradun plan.
Hindi press ads
Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran or Hindustan, picked by where your buyers live. Our language partners write the copy in Hindi from the first line, and our team checks it.
02Red FM and Akashvani spots
With one private station, the choices are the hour and the number of spots. Akashvani prices by programme type, so film-music shows cost more than spoken-word ones.
03Boards on permitted sites
Each site checked against the 2009 limits, with the owner's permission in writing. Mounting is delivered through PEXORA, a joint venture of PromotEdge and Prodigy. Printing is handled through the same partner.
04The routes visitors take
For hotels, cafés and shops that live on visitors. We map the roads and markets they use, such as Rajpur Road and Paltan Bazaar. Then we check what space is for sale.
05Jhanda Mela week
Press and radio timed to the fair, plus a stall or sampling counter if the rules allow. That on-ground work is delivered with the same partner where a job needs them.
06Search and social follow-up
TRAI, the telecom regulator, counted 87.33 internet subscribers per 100 people in Uttarakhand in March 2026, against 76.59 for India. Listeners search next, so Google and Meta ads wait for them.
One FM station, three audited papers and lakhs of visitors.
Each point comes from a public record we read on 4 October 2026. The first is here; the rest are in the fold below.
1. The outdoor rules on record date from 2009. Outdoor, or OOH (out of home), means ads seen outside the home. In December 2009, The Tribune reported the city's new bylaws on hoardings and where they could not stand. We found no newer rule book in public, so we ask the municipal corporation in writing.
Who lives in and visits the valley, and five more public facts: radio, Hindi print, the 2017 clean-up, visitors on the road and the Jhanda Mela.
The Dehradun market for advertising
Two audiences in one valley. About 17 lakh people live in Dehradun district, by the district's own count. The state's tourism department also counted 67,35,071 visitors to Dehradun in 2025, ETV Bharat reported. We look at your business first. Marketing comes second. A school wants parents who live here. A hotel wants people here for two nights. See our travel and tourism and education pages for how each buyer decides.
2. Radio comes down to two stations. The broadcasting ministry's list of 30 March 2026 shows one private FM station in Dehradun: Red FM, on 93.5 MHz. Lucknow and Jaipur have six each. Akashvani adds its Primary channel on 100.5 MHz. So a radio plan here is about the hours you buy, not the station you pick.
3. Audited print is Hindi print. The ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) checks how many copies its member papers sell. All three of its Dehradun rows are Hindi dailies. An English paper may still print here; we ask it for its own figures.
4. The city has pulled boards down before. In November 2017, the civic body removed about 6,000 hoardings, posters and banners, media4growth reported. A board without permission can vanish mid-campaign, and your money with it.
5. Many buyers are passing through. The district lists Mussoorie, 38 km away, with Chakrata and Rishikesh among its tourist places. In April 2026 the government said the 213 km Delhi-Dehradun corridor would cut the drive to about 2.5 hours. Visitors rarely read the local paper. They see boards, hear the car radio and search on their phones. Many start in Delhi, so our Delhi NCR advertising page covers that market.
6. One fair brings crowds every March. The Jhanda Mela is held every year at the Guru Ram Rai Darbar, on the fifth day after Holi. Devotees come from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Nearby shops should plan for it each March. Below: what we do with all six.
The Dehradun media list, row by row.
Dehradun has one private FM station and three Hindi dailies. Board rules from 2009 and 2017 may rule out many spots. Get the owner's permission for any board, and give each medium its own phone number.

| In Dehradun | What the record shows | What we do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Private FM | One station, Red FM 93.5. Dehradun is the only Uttarakhand city on the ministry's list (30 March 2026). | Hours picked by who listens when; the station's rate in writing. |
| Akashvani Primary, 100.5 MHz | ₹500 per 10 seconds in film music, album music and listener's choice shows; ₹300 in spoken-word shows (government card, 1 June 2017). | The government's rates, not ours. We confirm the rate before booking. |
| Hindi dailies | Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran and Hindustan: the only Dehradun rows on the ABC member list. | Each paper is asked for its own edition figures. |
| Where boards can't go (2009) | Within 25 m of roundabouts, on house rooftops, in Gandhi, Patel and Deen Dayal Parks, and from Ghantaghar to St Joseph's Academy (The Tribune, 30 December 2009). | Ruled out first. Then we ask if the rules have changed. |
| Who could put boards up (2009) | Registered display firms, owned by permanent Uttarakhand residents. A ₹25,000 fine for breaking the rules. Approved boards carried "Beautiful Doon, Clean Doon, Green Doon". | We ask each owner for its registration and permission. |
| Roads cleared in 2017 | The Clock Tower, Garhi Cantt, Rajpur Road and Haridwar Bypass (media4growth, 13 November 2017). | Permission first, on every road. |
| Shopping streets | Pacific Mall on Rajpur Road lists more than 200 shopping brands and a PVR cinema. Paltan Bazaar, near Ghanta Ghar, sells clothes, crafts and souvenirs. | Retail ads near where people shop. Mall space only on the mall's terms. |
| Air travel | 18,71,115 passengers in 2025-26, up 8.5%, all domestic. Jolly Grant airport is 20 km from the centre. | An audience, not space we can promise. We ask the airport. |
Sources as cited, checked 4 October 2026. Naming a paper or station does not make it our partner. Outdoor rows are rules as reported in 2009 and 2017: general guidance, not legal advice. Next: how a campaign runs.

Five steps, and a count at the end.
The first two steps are here; the other three are in the fold below.
- 01
Residents, visitors or both
On a video call: who buys, from which part of the valley, and the weeks that matter most.
- 02
Ground truth from your staff
Your front desk or sales team tells us what callers ask. That shapes the offer more than any media list.
The rest of the steps, from the media sheet to the count at the end.
How the work runs in Dehradun
A one-page media sheet
Each paper, radio hour and board, with a reason beside it and the owner's permission attached.
Your written yes, then release
Nothing is booked before you approve. Then come printed pages, airing logs and dated board photos.
Count, keep, cut
Each medium gets its own phone number or QR code. We keep what paid and drop the rest. Many clients start with one service and add more once the numbers make sense.
What affects the cost of advertising in Dehradun.
We don't list our prices online. After a first call, we write the scope and quote against it. Space, airtime and sites are billed at the owner's rate, shown before you approve.
What affects the cost
- Radio hours. Cost moves with the hour and the number of spots.
- Papers. One Hindi daily or all three; then size, colour, page and day.
- Outdoor. Board size and months booked; the 2009 limits also shrink the choice of sites.
- Timing and reach. Jhanda Mela week books up first; adding Mussoorie, Rishikesh or Delhi buyers means more sites or online ads.
How we quote
- A first call (residents, visitors or both), then a media sheet naming each paper, radio hour and board, with reasons
- Permission papers checked for every board before it enters the quote
- A line-by-line written quote within 2 working days of that first call, which you can trim; nothing booked before your written yes
What you get in the quote
- Each Hindi daily, with ad size, page and date
- Red FM and Akashvani spots: hour, length and count
- Each board, with its permission, owner and months
- Our own fee, apart from media and online ad budgets
How it is billed
| Way of working | When it fits |
|---|---|
| One burst | A launch, a Jhanda Mela week or a season, with fixed dates; timeline confirmed in the quote |
| Year-round plan | Releases through the year, with a call count each month; minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop |
Akashvani rates on this page are the government's 2017 card, not ours.
What happensafter you ask.

Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and most of the work runs online, in hybrid mode. We stay in touch daily by phone and video, and meet you in Dehradun at least once every three months to review results and plan. When a job needs it, a team member works from your site.

It depends on the station, the hour, the spot length and the weeks on air. Red FM sets its own rates. Akashvani's 2017 card lists ₹500 per 10 seconds in film-music shows and ₹300 in spoken-word ones. Those are the government's rates, not ours. A written quote follows within 2 working days of the first call.

Yes, on a site with permission. As The Tribune reported them, the 2009 bylaws bar boards near roundabouts, on house rooftops and in three named parks. We see the owner's permission before you pay. This is general guidance, not legal advice.
-
Mostly Hindi. Sanskrit became the state's second official language in 2010, but ads rarely need it. English suits offices and many visitors. Wikipedia's census figures show Garhwali as the next most common mother tongue in Dehradun tehsil. If you need Garhwali, say so at the start; we check whether a partner can write it.
-
Early. It falls every year on the fifth day after Holi. So it falls in March every year, and devotees come from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Book press and radio a few weeks ahead, and boards earlier, because permission checks take time.
-
We won't claim that title. Ask every agency, us included: Who holds the permission for each board? Which Hindi daily suits my buyer, and why? How will you count calls by medium? Our guide to choosing an agency lists more questions.
