Study the rivals who winyour orders.

Your sales team keeps losing to the same names, and nobody can say exactly why. PromotEdge studies the rivals your buyers compare you with, so you spend on the moves that win orders and bring more enquiries.

We work with brands across India.

Ask your sales team which three competitors take your orders. Not the biggest names in your category. We study those three first. Is it price, a claim, an ad, a dealer or a review? Usually a mix, and the mix differs for a healthcare brand, a plant and a housing project.

Then we write down every claim each rival makes. Claims all three make are the ones buyers no longer notice. We call this the parity test (parity means equal). What is left over is where you can stand out, and it is the first step of brand positioning.

We use public sources and legal methods only. We also say no to your face: if a rival's move is not worth copying, the report will say so. This sits inside our wider market research work.

/ 02 What we look at

Six places to look, one list of moves.

PartWhat you receive
Rival shortlist and claims sheetThree names to study first, and every promise each makes, marked shared or owned
Prices and offers as buyers see themA dated side-by-side of price, scheme, delivery and credit terms, with the real cost to the buyer
AdsTheir main messages and offers on Google and Meta, from the public ad libraries, and how often they change
Search visibilitySearches where you are missing, and which rival takes the click. Doing well here is SEO (search engine optimisation)
Dealers, shelf, reviews and hiringTheir dealer reach, the words buyers use about them, and signs of where a rival will push next
Report and movesA short report, a one-page list of ranked moves and the evidence file

A mystery visit, call or WhatsApp enquiry to see how a rival's counter sells is a separate job with its own rules: see mystery shopping.

/ 03 Common hurdles

What usually gets in the way,and the way through.

“We lose orders to the same two or three names.”

Your sales team knows the story, not the whole picture. We put their account beside what rivals say, charge and show.

“A rival cut the price, and our dealers want a matching scheme.”

Check what the buyer really pays after discounts and delivery first. The gap is often smaller than it looks.

“Our brochure and theirs say the same things.”

When every brand says quality and service, buyers pick on price. The parity test finds the claim nobody has made yet.

“We are entering a new city and do not know who we face.”

We map the names that win there and the dealers who carry them. It feeds your go-to-market plan.

“Our last competitor report was fifty slides and no decision.”

We start from the decision you must make. The report opens with ranked moves, and the evidence sits behind them.

/ 04 How we work

From your three rivalsto a quarterly habit.

We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  1. 01

Ground truth from your sales team

We ask who you lose to and why, then pick the three rivals and the questions to answer.

  2. 02

    Claims and the parity test

We list what each rival promises wherever a buyer sees it, and cross out the shared claims.

  3. 03

Prices, ads, search, dealers and reviews

Public sources only. We date every finding, because offers change.

  4. 04

    Read it against your numbers

We set findings beside your sales and enquiries, and keep what explains something.

  5. 05

    Moves, not slides

A short report and a findings meeting: what to do, what to leave alone, what we are unsure about.

  6. 06

    Refresh every quarter

When you act on a finding, try it small first, then scale what works.

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A D2C (direct-to-consumer) brand watches marketplace listings, reviews and ads. A dealer-led B2B (business-to-business) firm watches dealer boards and price lists. A franchise watches the nearest outlets. A services firm watches proposals and Google results.

Public ad libraries

Meta's Ad Library is a searchable database of ads running across Meta products. Google's Ads Transparency Center lets you search an advertiser and see its ads on Search, Display, Gmail and YouTube, filtered by date and place.

  1. Start from your sales team. They know who takes the orders. Three rivals, with reasons.
  2. Cross out shared claims. Claims everyone makes no longer persuade. A claims sheet.
  3. Date every finding. Rival schemes change fast. A dated price sheet.
  4. Rank the moves. A decision beats a pile of slides. A one-page list.

AI in competitor research: today and next

Today

Google says Gemini's Deep Research can browse hundreds of websites, shows you its plan to refine, and writes a report in minutes. Its own page says to check responses. We use such tools for a first sweep, then check each claim at the source.

/ 05 Cost

What affects the cost of competitor research.

No price list. These things move the number.

We don't publish a price list. We quote after a first conversation, against a written scope that names the rivals, the parts and the repeat plan. We send the quote within 2 working days. Paid database access is shown at actuals.

What affects the cost

  • How many rivals, and whether they are national or regional
  • Which parts you want: claims, prices, ads, search, dealers, reviews
  • How many cities or dealer networks the dealer check covers
  • A one-off study or a quarterly refresh

How we quote

  1. You tell us who you lose to, and what you want to decide
  2. We write the scope: rivals, parts, cities and how often it repeats
  3. You approve it before work starts

What you get in the quote

  • The rivals and parts agreed in writing
  • The claims sheet, the dated price sheet and the short report
  • A findings meeting with your sales and marketing heads

Comparing quotes? Ask how each agency gets its information. Be wary of anyone who offers a rival's private price list or customer names. That is not research.

/ 06 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Straight answers.

  • Competitor analysis studies the rivals your buyers compare you with: what they claim, charge, advertise and show on Google. Market research is wider and also asks buyers and dealers directly. Choose market research when you need to hear from the buyers themselves.

  • Ask your sales team which three rivals take your orders. Write down every claim each makes and cross out the shared ones. Put their price and offer beside yours. Search your buyers' words and note who appears. Our guide on competitor analysis goes further.

  • No. We use only public sources and legal methods: websites, brochures, price lists a buyer can see, search results, reviews, job posts and the public ad libraries. We use no fake identities, we don't hack, and we don't pay a rival's staff. This is our working rule, not legal advice.

  • We can show what a buyer can see: listed prices, schemes, discounts and delivery terms, dated. We can't get a rival's private price list or customer names, and we won't try. Where a price only comes out in a call or a visit, that is mystery shopping, which has its own rules.

  • What can't be measured can't be achieved, so we agree the decision first. We note today's numbers: orders lost to each rival, the discount your team gives, and enquiries for searches you were missing. After you act, you see which moved.

  • Our in-house team of 65+ people does the work, with industry consultants and partner agencies where a job needs them. Most of it is online, so distance does not matter. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and we meet you in your city at least once every three months.
