/ 01 Hotel marketing agency

Sell the whole hotel, with the rooms as one line.

A room left empty tonight can never be sold again, so hotel marketing is a calendar problem first. PromotEdge plans marketing for hotels and resorts around occupancy and room rates, and around every revenue line: rooms, banquets, weddings, the restaurant and events.

The aim is more nights sold at a fair rate, and more guests who come back. We have worked with properties across India since 2015.

We start with three numbers your revenue manager (the person who sets room rates) already tracks. Occupancy is the share of rooms sold on a night. ADR, or average daily rate, is the average price paid per sold room. RevPAR, or revenue per available room, is room revenue divided by all your rooms, sold or not.

How a property balances OTAs (online travel agencies such as MakeMyTrip) against direct bookings is on our hospitality marketing page.

  • Star rating shown only if you hold itThe Ministry of Tourism's scheme is voluntary (PIB, 3 Apr 2025).
  • Service charge shown as optional on quotes and menusCCPA guidelines, 4 July 2022: voluntary, never added by default.
  • Opt-in at booking and check-inWhatsApp Business policy: message only people who opted in.
  • A guest consent notice that names the purposeDPDP Rules, 2025: guests can withdraw consent at any time.

/ 04 The playbook

Start with the need, then pick the channel.

We believe in process. Start with the row that hurts most, and add the next once the numbers are in.

What your hotel needsWhat we doServices involved
Fill weekday nightsTest one segment: company travellers, small meetings or nearby-city getaways. Count nights sold.Google Ads, LinkedIn lead generation
Hold your rate in the off-seasonPackages that add value instead of cutting price, each for one guest type.Creative campaigns, Meta ads
Move up to a premium positionDecide what the property stands for, then refresh the identity and pictures to match.Brand strategy, Branding, Photography
More weddings and MICEMICE means meetings, incentives (reward trips), conferences and exhibitions. We reach wedding planners and company HR teams, then host open evenings.Lead generation, Corporate events
Banquets and the restaurant as revenueFood festivals and Sunday brunches for locals, delivered through the PromotEdge group.Events and exhibitions, Food photography

Demand is growing, but a rooms-only plan misses weddings and banquets. One rule on service charge trips many hotels.

Hotel marketing in depth

The market and the rule

ICRA expects India's hospitality revenue to grow 7 to 9 percent in FY2027, after 11 percent in FY2026, with premium hotel occupancy staying at 72 to 74 percent. On service charge, the Delhi High Court upheld the CCPA's guidelines on 28 March 2025, and the CCPA acted against 41 restaurants in July 2026.

How buyers decide

Our view: leisure guests look at photos and reviews and compare prices before they open your own page. Company bookers ask their travel desk. Wedding families come and see the hall. All three leave when the rate is unclear or the booking page is slow.

What you can do, and what is not ours

You can set rates, build one package for each guest type and keep room photos current. A star rating comes from the Ministry of Tourism's voluntary scheme, so it is not ours to give. Rate decisions stay with your revenue manager.

How we would deliver, and why each step

We read two seasons of bookings first, because last year's gaps show where to start. We test one segment or package on a small budget, because one clear result beats five guesses. We report nights sold and average rate, because likes do not fill rooms.

Bodies to know

FHRAI: calls itself the apex body of the Indian hospitality industry. It speaks to government for hotels and restaurants.

Hotel Association of India: a hotel industry body with a member hotel directory and a Hoteliers Conclave.

NIDHI+: the Ministry of Tourism's portal, where hospitality units can register, and registered and classified units are listed.

/ 05 What usually gets in the way

What gets in the wayand the way through.

“Weekends sell out. Monday to Thursday, half our rooms sit empty.”

Test one weekday segment first, often company travel desks, with its own offer and LinkedIn outreach. We read occupancy night by night.

“Every off-season we drop the rate, and guests still wait for a deal.”

Sell packages that add value at the same rate, such as a monsoon break or a long-stay week. Our campaigns sell the experience, so your rate holds.

“We spent crores on the renovation, but still sell like a budget hotel.”

Decide what the property is known for first. Our brand strategy work does that, then the look and pictures catch up with the rooms.

“Our revenue manager builds the weekly report by hand from four places.”

One report by segment, with nights sold and average rate. AI tools can flag slow-filling nights.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of marketing a hotel.

We don't publish a price list. We quote against a written scope. Media, shoot and event costs are billed at actuals, and you approve each first.

What affects the cost

  • Rooms and revenue lines. A boutique resort needs less than a hotel with banquet halls.
  • Guest segments. Leisure, company travel, weddings and MICE each need an offer.
  • Seasons and content. Two peaks mean two pushes.

How we quote

  1. A free 30-minute strategist call
  2. We read a season of bookings, then send a one-page plan
  3. A written quote follows within 2 working days. Nothing starts until you approve it

What you get in the quote

  • Segments and packages, by season
  • Campaigns and content, month by month
  • The monthly report: nights sold and average rate

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
Season pushOne season, package or launch, planned and run (timeline confirmed in the quote)
Monthly retainerCampaigns, content and the report (minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop)
/ 07 Rules

The rules behind hotel offers and guest messages

We check these before any offer goes out.

Service charge. CCPA guidelines, 4 July 2022: it cannot be added to a food bill by default, and guests must be told it is voluntary. The Delhi High Court upheld them on 28 March 2025.

Star ratings. They come from the Ministry of Tourism's voluntary scheme. If an ad says "4-star", check that you hold that rating.

Guest messages and data. WhatsApp's policy allows business messages only to people who opted in. The DPDP (Digital Personal Data Protection) Rules, 2025 expect a clear consent notice that names the purpose.

Reviews. Ask past guests for reviews, but offer no discount in return. Google's review policy bans it.

General guidance, not legal advice.

Straight answers.

  • It plans and runs the work that fills your rooms, halls and restaurant at a fair rate. Digital marketing for hotels is one part: Google, Meta, your website and WhatsApp. Packages, sales material, events and past guests are the rest. A useful agency starts from your occupancy and average rate.

  • No agency can honestly claim to be the best, so judge the answers. Will they read your booking data before proposing anything? Will they report nights sold and average rate, or only likes? Can they help your sales team too? Ask how we would approach your property, and judge that.

  • It depends on your rooms and revenue lines, the segments we chase, your seasons and your content. We don't publish a price list. After a free 30-minute call we send a one-page plan, and a written quote follows within 2 working days. We confirm the timeline in the quote.

  • Only to guests who gave you their number and agreed to hear from you. WhatsApp's business policy requires that opt-in, and you must stop when a guest asks. Ask at booking or check-in with a clear tick box, and keep the record. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • Our servicing team is based in cities across India. Most work runs online and we stay in touch every day. We meet you in your city at least once every three months. Our in-house team of 65+ people works with industry consultants and, where a job needs it, a partner agency.
