Pumps, mills and jewellersneed different media.

Coimbatore buys through dealers, fair weeks and Tamil-first shopfronts, so an ad plan copied from another city often misses the buyer. PromotEdge chooses, writes and books press, radio, outdoor and online ads for the city's factories, jewellers and shops.

Then you can see which rupee brought which enquiry.

How we work with you. We have worked with Indian brands since 2015. Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and an in-house team of 65+ books your Coimbatore ads, mostly online in hybrid mode. We visit you at least once every three months.

How we'd think it through. We are business people first, so we start from your sales: which districts, which dealers, which months. Then we test small, with one Tamil daily and one station, each on its own phone number. After a fortnight we move money to whatever rang.

What this page covers. Only what changes in Coimbatore. The method is on the advertising service page, the city on the Coimbatore overview. Selling in Chennai too? See our Chennai advertising page.

/ 03 What is different here

Six local facts we plan around.

From government lists, court reports and organisers' own sites, checked on 4 October 2026.

1. Tamil papers print local editions. The ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) audits the copies its member papers sell. Its list shows Coimbatore editions for Daily Thanthi, Dinamalar and The Hindu. Dinakaran, not a member, lists a "Coimbatore Main" edition with local ones such as Pollachi, Erode and Tirupur. So ask which edition reaches your buyers before paying for a whole region.

2. Four private FM stations, plus Akashvani. The broadcasting ministry's list of 30 March 2026 shows private stations at 91.1, 93.5, 98.3 and 106.4 MHz (the numbers on your FM dial). Akashvani adds FM Rainbow on 103 MHz and a primary channel on 999 kHz, a medium-wave frequency. With so few stations, the hour you buy matters as much as the station.

Four more local facts we plan around, from the hoarding rules to fair weeks, and who we usually plan for.

The Coimbatore market for advertising

Who we usually plan for. The district administration counts "more than 25,000" industries in Coimbatore. Its first textile mill opened in 1888, and pump sets, wet grinders and foundry goods followed. Many sell to dealers and factories (see industrial manufacturing), while jewellers and shops sell to families (see jewellery).

3. A court order cleared the roadsides. In late November 2017, a 32-year-old engineer died on a Coimbatore road after his motorcycle hit an illegal hoarding. The Madras High Court then ordered all illegal hoardings in the district removed. A trade site reported that legal advertising sites were not the target. In our plans, outdoor or OOH (out-of-home) ads go only on licensed sites.

4. State rules shape every board. Tamil Nadu notified hoarding rules for its towns and cities in April 2023. As reported, a licence lasts three years and a board may rise no more than 10 m. Boards are barred from forests, water bodies, cremation grounds, heritage sites and places of worship.

5. Fairs and flights bring buyers in. CODISSIA, the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association, runs a trade fair complex built in 1999. Its INTEC machine tools fair listed 625+ exhibitors and 44,779+ business visitors in 2026. The INTEC listed for 2028 runs from 1 to 5 June 2028. CODISSIA also runs Agri Intex, a farm trade fair whose 21st edition was in 2023. And the airport's international traffic grew 13.1% in 2025-26.

6. Shop boards go Tamil first. In February 2024 the state asked traders to switch to Tamil name boards. A May 2025 report says a committee in every district checks them. Chennai's corporation sets the letter sizes at 5:3:2: Tamil largest, then English, then a third language. We follow that layout in Coimbatore too.

/ 04 Coimbatore's media and rules

Papers, stations, boards and fairs, with sources.

Coimbatore has Tamil and English dailies, and radio on four private FM stations and Akashvani. Shop boards put Tamil first, and reported state rules ask for the owner's written letter with each application. Compare the hours each station gives you, not only its rate, and use only boards with a licence.

ItemPublic recordHow it shapes your plan
Daily Thanthi and Dinamalar (Tamil)Both ABC members with a Coimbatore edition. Daily Thanthi says it began in Madurai and later spread to Coimbatore.First look for offers to families and shops.
Dinakaran (Tamil)Not an ABC member. Its e-paper lists "Coimbatore Main", with Pollachi, Nilgiri, Erode and Tirupur under it.Handy when buyers sit in one nearby town.
The Hindu and The Times of India (English)The Hindu: ABC member, daily and weekly. The Times of India: a trade report announced its Coimbatore edition from 14 February 2011.Trade, property and college offers.
Private FM, four stations91.1, 93.5, 98.3 and 106.4 MHz (ministry list, 30 March 2026).Each quotes its own rate. We compare hours, not only prices.
Akashvani FM Rainbow, 103 MHz₹440, ₹330 or ₹220 per 10 seconds. The dearest band runs 7 to 11 am and 5 to 11 pm (government card, 1 June 2017).The government's rates, not ours. The current rate is confirmed before booking.
Akashvani primary channel, 999 kHz₹660 per 10 seconds in film music and listener's choice shows; ₹440 in spoken-word ones (government card, 2017).The rate follows the programme, not the clock, so we choose the show.
High Court order, November 2017Illegal hoardings across the district ordered down. Illegal political structures and cut-outs were the target, a trade site said.No unlicensed board or roadside banner goes into your plan.
Tamil Nadu hoarding rules, 2023As reported: no stacked boards, and each application needs a structural stability certificate and the owner's no-objection letter. We ask for both papers for every site.
Tamil name boardsIn a Chennai case, the High Court set 1 November 2026 as retailers' final date for Tamil boards.Every shop board we lay out puts Tamil first and largest.

Sources as cited, checked 4 October 2026. Naming a paper or station here does not mean it works with us. Rupee figures are Akashvani's 2017 card, not PromotEdge prices. Outdoor rows are general guidance, not legal advice. Next, the steps that use it.

Our beliefWe're professionals. We'd rather be blunt than pleasing.

/ 06 How a Coimbatore campaign runs

Five steps, each one you can check.

Here are the first two steps. The full steps are in the fold below.

  1. 01

Ground truth from your sales team

You and your sales head tell us who buys, where, and in which months. Dealers and end buyers often need different media.

  2. 02

    A one-page media sheet

Each edition, station, hour and site, with its reason and the owner's rate.

All five steps of a Coimbatore campaign, from your sales map to the count.

How the work runs in Coimbatore
  1. Ground truth from your sales team You and your sales head tell us who buys, where, and in which months. Dealers and end buyers often need different media.
  2. A one-page media sheet Each edition, station, hour and site, with its reason and the owner's rate.
  3. Papers for every board Licence, end date and safety certificate for each hoarding. A site without them is dropped.
  4. Your approval, then release You approve every line of copy before booking. Then come tear sheets (copies of the printed page), airing logs and dated site photos.
  5. Count, then scale Each medium gets its own phone number or scan code. After two to four weeks, we cut what stayed quiet.
/ 07 Cost

What affects the cost of advertising in Coimbatore.

We keep no price list on this site. After a first talk, we write the scope and quote against it. Space, airtime and sites are billed at the owner's rate, shown before you agree.

What affects the cost

  • Tamil, English or both. Each language needs its own copy and layout.
  • How many editions. Each extra local edition, such as Pollachi or Erode, is another booking.

How we quote

  1. A first call with you and your sales head on buyers, towns and dates
  2. A written media sheet with a reason beside every line
  3. A line-by-line written quote within 2 working days of that first call, which you can trim; nothing is booked before your written yes

What you get in the quote

  • Each paper and edition, with language, size and date
  • Each FM station or Akashvani band, with spot length and count
  • Each hoarding, with its licence end date and the owner's rate
  • Printing and mounting on their own lines
  • Our planning fee, kept apart from media money

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
A single pushOne fair week or festival season, with fixed dates; timeline confirmed in the quote
Through the yearPongal, Ayudha Pooja, Deepavali and fair weeks, with a monthly enquiry report; minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop

The Akashvani figures here are the government's, not ours. We can't do magic alone. The more involved you are, the faster you see results.

Three more things that can change your quote, with a line on each.

What else changes the cost in Coimbatore

Radio band. On Akashvani's 2017 card, FM Rainbow's busiest band costs twice its night band.

Fair and festival weeks. Ayudha Pooja, Deepavali and CODISSIA fair weeks fill up early.

Visits to your site. Site checks and launch days, at actual cost.

/ 08 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

  3. 03

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Straight answers.

  • Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and most of the work runs online, in hybrid mode. We speak with you every working day and meet you in Coimbatore at least once every three months. When a job needs it, a team member works from your office or plant.

  • Often both. Wikipedia notes that Kongu Tamil, a dialect, is mostly spoken in the city. Families and shops usually get Tamil first; factory buyers and exporters often get English. The Tamil comes from our language partners, and our team checks it before booking.

  • Yes, on a licensed site. The 2017 High Court order was aimed at illegal boards and cut-outs, a trade site reported. Under the state's 2023 rules, as reported, a licence runs three years and boards stop at 10 m. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Festival weeks first. Tamil Nadu's 2026 holiday list puts Ayudha Pooja on 19 October and Deepavali on 8 November, and papers and radio can be booked for both. INTEC 2026 has been held; the 2028 fair runs 1 to 5 June 2028, so fair media can be planned well ahead.

  • We won't claim that, and you should doubt anyone who does. We'd rather show you results than a nice presentation. Ask every agency, us included: can we see each board's licence? Which edition, and why? How will calls be counted per medium? Our guide to choosing an agency adds more questions.

  • A clear offer in a Tamil daily or on FM can bring calls within days. Outdoor and brand work take a season. Trade buyers decide slowly, so judge a B2B (business to business) plan over a full sales cycle. We confirm the timeline in the quote.
