Papers in two languages, six radio channels and a High Court that polices every board: a Trivandrum media plan needs care. PromotEdge books nothing until the media and the site are checked.

/ 01 Advertising agency in Trivandrum

Two languages in print.Pick the paper by the reader.

An advertising agency in Trivandrum earns its fee by matching each ad's language to its reader, and by keeping every board on the right side of the High Court. PromotEdge plans and books press, radio and outdoor ads for the city, then counts the enquiries each one brings.

Mainline media means paid space in newspapers and on radio. Outdoor, or OOH (out of home), means boards and hoardings that people pass in the street. This page covers only what is different about Trivandrum. Our advertising service page explains how we plan media anywhere.

The Kerala High Court's orders on boards cover the whole state, so a board without written permission is a risk, not a saving. We plan by buyer and language first, and by medium second. The Trivandrum overview covers our online work.

/ 03 Media in Trivandrum

Five facts that shape a Trivandrum media plan.

Each comes from a public source, checked on 4 October 2026. Two are here and three more are in the fold below.

1. Print comes in two languages. The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) checks newspaper sales. Its member list shows three Malayalam papers with a Trivandrum edition and two English ones. A paper missing from the list may still print here. Choose the language by the reader, because an English ad passes a Malayalam reader by.

2. Radio has a published price card. Akashvani's Trivandrum primary channel is on 1161 kHz. A government card dated 1 June 2017 lists a 10-second spot at ₹500 for film and music programmes and ₹300 for spoken-word ones. Those are old rates from the government card, not ours.

The other three facts: the radio stations, the court orders on boards and the airport.

The Trivandrum market for advertising

3. Four private FM stations, and a second Akashvani channel. The ministry's list of 30 March 2026 shows four private FM stations for Trivandrum, at 92.7, 93.5, 94.3 and 98.3 MHz. Vividh Bharati is on 101.9 MHz. Its first time band, 6:30 to 10 am and 7 to 11 pm, costs ₹390 per 10 seconds on the 2017 card. The other two bands are ₹330 and ₹280. We choose a station by listener and hour. Our radio advertising page has the method.

4. The High Court polices boards across the state. On 13 March 2025 the Kerala High Court declared unauthorised boards, banners, hoardings, flags and festoons illegal, with a fine of ₹5,000 a board. It made removal the personal duty of local body secretaries, and it covered action against the advertising agencies involved. In August 2026 it said only a negligible amount of the fines had been collected, and that unpaid sums could be recovered from secretaries personally. Checks are likely to get stricter, so a board is worth booking only with the owner's written permit for that exact site. See hoarding advertising.

5. At the airport, most of the crowd flies abroad. Thiruvananthapuram airport handled 46,94,206 passengers in 2025-26, which is 4.0% fewer than the year before. Of these, 24,90,985 flew on international routes, up 6.3%. We have not seen a published rate list for airport space, so we ask who sells it and on what terms. Our airport advertising page explains the usual formats.

Our beliefOur job is to impress your customers, not you.

/ 04 Trivandrum's media and board rules

What is on offer, and what needs a question first.

Trivandrum has five papers on the ABC list, four private FM stations and two Akashvani channels. The Kerala High Court has ordered fines for illegal boards, so every site needs the owner's written permit. Ask for festival-week slots early.

ItemWhat the public record saysHow we use it
Malayalam papersABC members with a Trivandrum edition: Malayala Manorama, Mathrubhumi and Deshabhimani.First choice for family and shop buyers. We ask each paper for its reach by area.
English papersThe Hindu (daily and weekly) and The Times of India.Suit office buyers and company offers. We compare each with a Malayalam ad on the same budget.
Private FM92.7, 93.5, 94.3 and 98.3 MHz. Trivandrum is category C on the ministry's list of 30 March 2026.We choose by listener and hour, then compare each station's written rate.
AkashvaniPrimary channel, 1161 kHz: ₹500 and ₹300 per 10 seconds by programme type. Vividh Bharati, 101.9 MHz: ₹390, ₹330 and ₹280 by time band. The first band runs 6:30 to 10 am and 7 to 11 pm.Gross rates on the government card of 1 June 2017, not our prices. We ask for the current card.
Fine for illegal boards31 October 2023: the High Court ordered a fine of ₹5,000 for every illegal billboard, plus the cost of removing it, and prosecution of those responsible. We never book a board whose owner cannot show a permit for that exact site.
How it is carried outNovember 2023: a Local Self-Government Department circular put the order into effect. It used the Kerala Municipality (Erection of Arches & Setting up of Advertisement Boards in public streets and public places) Rules, 1999. 13 March 2025: the court made removal the personal duty of local body secretaries and covered action against the advertising agencies involved. An agency can be named in a case, so we hand you a copy of the owner's permit for every site.
Court follow-up31 July 2026: the court asked the Chief Secretary for an affidavit (a sworn statement) on steps taken. It noted an adviser's report of "extensive unauthorised installations across various parts of the State". August 2026: only a negligible amount of the fines had been collected. The case was posted to 3 September 2026. We have not checked the result.Expect stricter checks. A plan that rests on one doubtful site is a risk.
Flex material11 March 2019: an interim order said PVC flex boards, and other materials that do not rot away, must not be used for election campaigns in Kerala. That order is about elections. For other boards we ask the owner which material is allowed.
City rulesThe Corporation's website did not load in three tries on 4 October 2026, so no city fee or approved-site list was read.We quote no city rule we cannot source. We ask for the terms in writing first.
Airport46,94,206 passengers in 2025-26, down 4.0%. Of these, 24,90,985 were international, up 6.3% (AAI).A rate list is not published, so we ask who sells the space.
Dates aheadAttukal Pongala: every year in February or March. Onam: the ten days after Atham in the Malayalam month of Chingam. The 2026 festivals are over.We confirm the 2027 dates before we book, and ask for festival-week slots early.

Sources as cited in each row, checked 4 October 2026. The court orders cover the whole state, not Trivandrum alone. Naming a paper or station does not make it our partner. The board rows are general information, not legal advice.

/ 05 How a Trivandrum campaign runs

From first callto counted enquiries.

The full steps are in the fold below.

  1. 01

    Start with the buyer

Who buys from you, which language they read, which part of the district they live in, and the date that matters.

  2. 02

    Choose the media

Papers by language. Then stations and hours. Boards only where the owner's permit is clear.

Tell us what’s not working. We’ll send you an honest one-page growth plan, free.

How we work with you, and the three steps after choosing the media.

How the work runs in Trivandrum

Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and most of the work runs online, in hybrid mode. We talk every day, and we meet you in Trivandrum at least once every three months. When a job needs it, a team member works from your site.

Our language partners write the English ads, and our team checks them. Malayalam is not on the languages we have confirmed. If your buyers read Malayalam papers, tell us early and we confirm whether a partner can take it on.

Clear each site

The owner's written permit and terms for every board, checked before it goes into the quote. Printing is handled through the same partner as mounting.

Write, then book

One idea, sized for each paper and each spot. We believe in process. Nothing is booked before your yes.

Count what came back

A campaign-only phone number, QR code or offer code for each medium. Your report shows the cost per enquiry from each.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of advertising in Trivandrum.

We keep our rates off this page by choice. After one conversation we write the scope and quote against it. Space, airtime, sites and printing are billed at the owner's or supplier's price, shown before you approve.

What affects the cost

  • Language: each paper language needs its own ad
  • Papers and radio: which dailies and ad sizes, and how many stations
  • Boards: a site without a clear permit is left out
  • Season: festival weeks book early

How we quote

  1. A first call and a written media plan that names each paper, station and site, with reasons
  2. A line-by-line written quote within 2 working days of that first call, which you can approve, trim or turn down

What you get in the quote

  • Each paper edition, with the ad size and the date
  • Each station and time band, plus spot length and count
  • Each board site: its size, its months and the owner's permit

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
Festival burstOne push, such as the weeks around Onam or Attukal Pongala; timeline confirmed in the quote
Monthly retainerReleases through the year with a monthly enquiry report; minimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop

Two more things that move your quote, and a tip for comparing quotes.

What else changes the cost in Trivandrum

How far you want to reach: the city alone, or the wider district as well.

Whether you ask for Malayalam. A language partner has to be confirmed first, and that is a separate line.

Comparing Trivandrum quotes? Ask which edition each paper price covers, whether the radio rate is for the busy hours, and whether the report counts enquiries or only releases.

/ 07 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Planning a Trivandrum campaign?

Tell us who buys and in which language. We'll show which media reach them first.

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • Our servicing team is based in cities across India, and most of the work runs online, in hybrid mode. We talk every day and share one report a month. We come to Trivandrum at least once every three months, and a team member works from your site when a job needs it. We have no office there.

  • It chooses where your money goes, then shows that it got there. For a Trivandrum shop that might be a paper ad, a radio spot and a board, each with its own phone number. The agency books them at the written rate and reports which one brought calls.

  • Follow your buyer. The ABC list shows both Malayalam and English papers with Trivandrum editions. If you sell to families and shops, Malayalam is the likelier choice. If you sell to offices, English may do. We write English ads. For Malayalam, tell us early and we confirm whether a partner can take it on.

  • Rates differ by station, hour, spot length and weeks on air. The only published card is Akashvani's, dated 1 June 2017. It lists the Trivandrum primary channel at ₹500 or ₹300 per 10 seconds, by programme type. The four private stations quote their own. We show all of them in one written quote.

  • It can be, with the owner's written permit for that exact site. On 13 March 2025 the court called unauthorised boards illegal, with a fine of ₹5,000 a board and action against the agencies involved. We book only permitted sites. General guidance, not legal advice.

  • We give each medium its own phone number, QR code or offer code. A paper ad, a radio spot and a board then each leave a trace. Your monthly report counts enquiries by medium, so you can move money from the one that brought nothing to the one that did.
