A web app runs in the browser, so your team, dealers and customers install nothing. Build it around one job and the people who do it daily.

Software people use in a browser, built around one job.

A web application is software people use in a browser, with a login and their own records: an order portal, a booking system, a dashboard. PromotEdge plans, designs and builds web applications for Indian businesses, starting with the one job it must do and the people who will use it every day.

Here is what we usually see: a long feature list, and a team still keeping orders in WhatsApp and Excel. We start smaller: dealers placing orders (see web portal development), or customers booking a slot.

A website shows information. A web app lets people act on their own records. Only need pages and forms? See website design and development. Need an installed phone app? See mobile app development.

Maybe a ready-made tool, such as a CRM (customer relationship management software), is enough. We will say so. Want us to look at yours?

/ 02 What we build

Seven kinds of web app,one plan for each.

What we buildWho uses itWhat you receive
Dealer and distributor orderingDealers, sales teamDealer logins, catalogue, order history, status and statements
Customer portals and bookingCustomers, clientsSign-up, bookings or requests, payments, tracking, invoices to download
Internal tools and dashboardsYour staff, managersApprovals, field reports, stock views, one screen of daily numbers
Admin panel and reportsYour operations teamUsers, roles, content, exports and alerts
Integrations and APIsYour systemsConnectors (APIs) to ERP, CRM, payment gateway, SMS and WhatsApp
Installable web app (PWA)Phone and desktop usersOne build with a home-screen icon. MDN, read 10 October 2026: it needs a manifest and HTTPS
Software you sell (SaaS)Your customersPlans, billing and many customers' accounts kept apart in one system

Also part of every build: login security, backups, monitoring and upkeep. Design work runs through UI/UX design, and we can add analytics and a chatbot. Booking tools suit healthcare clinics and diagnostic centres. Site-visit and booking tools suit real estate sales teams.

/ 03 Common hurdles

What usually gets in the way,and the way through.

“Orders arrive by WhatsApp, calls and Excel, and nothing matches.”

We map the order's journey, then build one place where every order lands, with a status everyone can see.

“The team avoids the tool, because a phone call is faster.”

We watch how the work is done today and build around it, starting with what people do most.

“The old developer holds the code, and nobody can change anything.”

Code, hosting and domain logins stay in your company's name from day one.

“It works for ten users and slows down at a thousand.”

We write expected users and data size into the scope, test with realistic load, and pick hosting that can grow.

“Dealers, staff and customers see too much, or too little.”

We plan roles early: who sees what, who edits, who approves. Changing this late is costly.

“It does not talk to accounts, stock or the CRM, so someone retypes.”

We list every system it must connect to before design: ERP (software that runs stock and accounts), CRM, payments, WhatsApp.

Our beliefWe start with logic and your numbers, not with ideas we happen to like.

/ 04 How we work

From the jobto a working app.

As planning guidance, a focused first version usually takes two to four months, mostly decisions and sign-offs. We confirm the timeline in the quote. Our servicing team is based in cities across India.

  1. 01

    Discovery

Calls with the people who will use it. We agree the job, users, roles and how success is counted.

  2. 02

    Flows and prototype

Screen flows and a clickable prototype. Two or three real users try it before any code is written.

  3. 03

    Technical plan

Data, integrations, hosting and security, written plainly for your team and any future developer.

  4. 04

    Build in short cycles

Two-week rounds, with a version to try after each. We can't do magic alone: faster feedback means a faster app.

  5. 05

    Test and pilot

Real browsers and phones, slow networks, wrong entries. Then a pilot with a small group and short training.

  6. 06

    Launch and measure

Go-live with backups and monitoring. What can't be measured can't be achieved, so we agree one number (orders handled, hours saved) and report it monthly. None of our published cases is a web app, so we show no results here.

Tell us what’s not working. We’ll send you an honest one-page growth plan, free.

More on this

How we deliver it, and why

How your business model changes the plan

A dealer-led B2B (business-to-business) firm starts with dealer ordering and statements. A D2C brand starts with accounts, reorder and returns. A franchise needs outlet-wise reports. A services firm starts with bookings and approvals. Software you sell needs plans and billing from day one.

  1. Name the job and the users first. An app with no clear job becomes one more screen nobody opens. The job also tells us if a ready tool will do. A one-page brief and an honest yes or no.
  2. Prototype on real screens. Changing a drawing costs hours. Changing built code costs weeks. A clickable prototype and a list of where testers hesitated.
  3. Roll out to a small group first. Real use finds what meetings miss. A pilot with named users and a fix list.
  4. Review and test every change. Code can be wrong in quiet ways, whoever writes it. Test records and a change log.

AI in web applications: today and next

Today

GitHub says Copilot can suggest code as you type, edit files, run tools and prepare a pull request, and that you remain responsible for reviewing and approving. Anthropic describes Claude Code as a tool that reads a codebase, edits files and runs commands. Features depend on the plan you use.

Next

Our view: routine code will keep getting faster, and AI features such as search or summaries will move inside apps. Planning, testing and judgement stay with people. Want us to look at where AI fits yours? Ask us.

/ 05 Cost

What affects the cost ofa web application.

We quote against a written scope, because a five-screen tool and a dealer platform with payments differ a lot. The smallest first step is a free 30-minute call with a strategist and a one-page plan, for projects we think we can help.

What affects the cost

  • Users, user types and roles
  • Screens and features in the first version
  • Integrations: ERP, CRM, payments, SMS, WhatsApp
  • Reports, notifications and file handling
  • Hosting, security and data rules
  • Upkeep and support after launch

How we quote

  1. You tell us the job, the users and the systems it must connect to
  2. We write a scope: screens, roles, integrations and what waits for version two
  3. We send the quote within 2 working days, with hosting and third-party costs on their own lines

What you get in the quote

  • A written scope, a clickable prototype and testing
  • Code, hosting and logins in your company's name
  • An upkeep plan, priced on its own line

Compare quotes on scope, not the total: who owns the code, how much testing is included, what year two costs. Unsure where to start? Talk to us.

/ 06 What happens next

What happensafter you ask.

For projects we think we can help, this is how it goes.

  1. 01

    A strategist calls you

In one working day: a 30-minute call with one of our strategists about your business and what is not working.

  2. 02

    You get a 1-page plan

A short, honest plan: what to fix first and what we would do. It is free.

  3. 03

A quote, if you want one

If you want to go ahead, we send a quote within 2 working days.

We confirm the timeline in the quote. Contracts start at 3 months, with 30 days' notice to stop.

Tell us the job the app must do.We'll show you the plan.

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • It is building software that runs in a browser: users log in, work with their own records and get results, as in an order portal, a booking system or a dashboard. A brochure website shows information; a web application lets people do things.

  • If staff and dealers work at desks or on mixed phones, a web application is often the simpler start, since nothing needs installing. If you need camera, GPS or offline field work, a mobile app fits better. We tell you honestly which one your job needs.

  • It depends on users, features, integrations and security needs. We quote against a written scope after one conversation, within 2 working days, with hosting and third-party costs on their own lines, so you can compare. We publish no price list, because a five-screen tool and a dealer platform differ a lot.

  • As planning guidance, a focused first version usually takes two to four months from first call to go-live. Integrations and sign-offs add time, and much of the wait is decisions, not code. We confirm the timeline in the quote, and later features follow in short cycles.

  • AI tools now speed up routine code, tests and reviews, and AI features such as search or summaries can sit inside your app. GitHub says you remain responsible for reviewing and approving what its Copilot suggests. In our work, people still plan, review and test every change.

  • You should. The code, design files, hosting account and domain should be in your company's name, and any company should agree in writing, including us. If one will not, ask why. Our quote lists code, hosting and logins in your company's name, so you can compare.

  • Yes. Our servicing team is based in cities across India. We work hybrid and remotely, visit regularly and, when a job needs it, our team works at your site. Most of the work happens on video calls and shared screens, and a clickable prototype lets your users try the app wherever they are.

  • No published case study of ours is a web application project, so we show no results here. The nearest real work is the Desi Machines marketplace website, built for our group company. We share relevant work in the first conversation.
