An install is not a customer.A funded account is.

Ad platforms report installs, but a fintech business lives on funded accounts. For app-first lending, payments, wealth and insurance startups, PromotEdge plans your app store page, paid campaigns, content and onboarding fixes as one plan.

The aim: more people who finish KYC and fund an account, at a cost your margins can carry. We started in 2015 and work across India.

Your growth has three numbers. Installs are downloads. Verified users finished KYC (know your customer), the identity check the law asks for. Funded accounts took a loan, paid, insured or invested. We plan backwards from the third.

Fintech sits inside BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance). Not an app? See marketing for banks and insurance marketing. Very early stage? See startups.

UPI made paying by phone a daily habit. Your app earns trust slowly, and the funnel shows where it leaks.

Fintech marketing in depth

The market in FY2025-26

UPI handled over 24,162 crore transactions (a crore is 10 million) worth about ₹314 lakh crore in FY2025-26, and volume grew 30 percent on the year before. Paying by phone is now a daily habit, and lending, wealth and insurance apps all try to build on it.

Source: Press Information Bureau (Ministry of Finance), UPI completes 10 years, press release of 24 Aug 2026, read 10 Oct 2026 (https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2302657)

How buyers decide

Our view: people try a finance app when a friend, a partner brand or a store search gives them a reason. Before they put money in, they look for the regulated partner's name, a support line and reviews. They drop out at KYC, a hidden charge or a vague loan offer.

What you can do, and what is not ours

You can name one owner for each number, share your funnel data and agree a claim sheet with your partner early. You can fix slow KYC steps inside your own product. We cannot change your partner's approvals, RBI's rules or what a store lists. We give no financial advice.

How we would deliver, and why each step

We track the funnel to a funded account first, because installs hide the leak. We fix the worst onboarding step, because ads cannot repair it. We agree the claim sheet before the creative, because partner review is the slowest step. Then we test one channel at a time under a cost ceiling.

Bodies to know

NPCI: the National Payments Corporation of India. Its site says it is enabling digital payments in India, and it launched UPI under RBI's oversight.

IAMAI: the Internet and Mobile Association of India. It calls itself a not-for-profit industry body and a unified voice for its members.

/ 05 What usually gets in the way

What gets in the wayand the way through.

“Installs are cheap. Hardly anyone finishes KYC.”

Tell ad platforms to find people who finish KYC. Our tracking records every step to the first transaction.

“People stop at the selfie, PAN card or bank step.”

Fix the step that loses most people, then test again. Our conversion rate optimisation work does it, with a WhatsApp reminder for those who agreed.

“Nobody knows us. Why trust a new app with money?”

Make trust visible: your regulated partner's name, a real support line and the founders' faces. PR (news coverage) helps.

“Our lending partner takes two weeks to approve each ad.”

Agree a claim sheet with your partner first: the APR (the full yearly cost of the loan), names and disclaimers. Then each review is quick.

“Our store page gets views, but few installs.”

Improve the listing through app store optimisation (ASO). Loan apps have store rules too.

“Our referral programme brings sign-ups who never transact.”

Reward the first funded transaction, with a cap per referrer. Investment apps also check who they pay, as SEBI, the market regulator, reaches referrals.

“We doubled ad spend. Cost per funded account nearly doubled.”

Set a ceiling cost per funded account for each product. Performance marketing moves money between channels to stay under it.

“Our rating keeps falling, mostly after declines.”

Say in ads and on the store page who the product is for and which documents are needed.

/ 06 Cost

What affects the cost of fintech marketing.

No price list. These things move the number.

We don't publish a price list. We quote after a free 30-minute strategist call. Ad spend is billed at actuals.

What affects the cost

  • Products and partners. Each partner adds review rounds.
  • Platforms. Android only or iOS too; two ad channels or more.
  • Tracking work. Counting KYC and funding means connecting your app.

How we quote

  1. A free 30-minute strategist call
  2. We study your funnel, then send a one-page plan
  3. A written quote follows within 2 working days

What you get in the quote

  • The first 90 days, test by test
  • A cost ceiling per funded account

How it is billed

Way of workingWhen it fits
90-day test planTimeline confirmed in the quote
Monthly retainerMinimum 3 months, 30 days' notice to stop
Ad spend at actualsBilled as the platforms charge it

Ask every agency which number it will be judged on.

/ 07 Rules that shape fintech marketing

The rules, read as a growth team.

Rules change often. Your compliance team checks the current text before anything runs.

Lending apps show the full cost. RBI (the Reserve Bank of India) asks, in its Digital Lending Directions, 2025, for a Key Fact Statement (KFS). The APR (annual percentage rate) includes "interest rate and all other charges". Fees left out need explicit consent.

Comparison screens stay neutral. Each offer shows the lender, amount, tenor, APR and penal charges, with a KFS link, and no "dark patterns" (designs that trick people).

Your app sits on RBI's list. RBI publishes it "without any further validation check", so check your partner's entry. Google Play takes Indian loan apps only from that list. Google Ads asks loan advertisers to be verified.

Investment apps and who they pay. SEBI-regulated firms must not be associated with anyone giving unregistered securities advice. Money, referrals and shared client data all count.

Insurance apps follow IRDAI (the insurance regulator): see our insurance marketing page. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

Lending, payments, wealth or insurance app?

Tell us where users drop off. We'll show you what a funded account should cost.

Or leave your number. A strategist calls you in one working day.

We use these details only to call you back. Privacy notice.

Straight answers.

  • It helps a finance app win customers who actually use it. That covers the store listing, app ads, onboarding fixes, reviews and messages that bring people back. It measures funded accounts, not installs, and works inside your regulator's rules and your partner's review.

  • Ask every agency, including us, four things. Will you report cost per funded account, not per install? How will you work with our partner's compliance team? Have you tracked KYC and first sales? Will the people we meet today run our account?

  • It depends on your products and partners, the platforms, tracking work, creative volume and onboarding fixes. Ad spend is separate, and you set it. We don't publish a price list. A written quote follows within 2 working days of the first call.

  • RBI's Digital Lending Directions, 2025 ask for a Key Fact Statement showing the APR, the full yearly cost of the loan. Your lender reports your app for RBI's public list of lending apps. Google Play accepts Indian personal loan apps only from that list. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Yes, with checks. SEBI allows marketing tie-ups with people who don't give unregistered advice or claim returns. Payments and client referrals both count as association, so a referrer who posts stock tips is a problem. We screen them first. This is general guidance, not legal advice.
