How to plan Holi and Eid offers
The quick answer. The best Holi and Eid offers for a small business fit one buyer you know, carry one offer with a real end date, leave a spare day for the moon, and can be counted. Check six things before you spend: who celebrates, the one offer, the date, the claim, the picture and the count. (PromotEdge editorial view, 7 November 2026.)
- Who celebrates. Ask your sales team which of your buyers keep Holi, which keep Eid and which only join the shopping.
- The one offer. One box, one hamper or one slot is easier to explain than a list of discounts.
- The date. Give a real last day to order or book, and keep a spare day.
- The claim. Say only what you can prove. Our ASCI Code note lists the rules for ads and claims.
- The picture. Keep it simple and warm. See what to avoid below.
- The count. Decide before you start what you will count: boxes sold, bookings or replies.
Eid offers: what to know
What a public reference says. Wikipedia says Eid al-Fitr is on the first day of Shawwal and marks the end of the month-long, dawn-to-dusk fasting of Ramadan. It begins at sunset on the night the new moon is first sighted, so the date can differ from place to place. The celebrations include prayers, gifts (Eidi), family gatherings, festive meals, decoration and charity. (Wikipedia, "Eid al-Fitr", read 7 November 2026.)
What it means for you. Our marketing calendar says the date depends on the moon and any change may be announced at short notice, so write your plan with a spare day and keep posts and ads easy to change. Because the fast runs from dawn to dusk, many people shop and eat after sunset in the weeks before Eid, so evening hours and evening messages may suit. Ask your own buyers, and do not guess.
Holi offers: what to know
What a public reference says. Wikipedia says Holi falls on the full moon day of the Phalguna month, around the middle of March, and the night before is Holika Dahan. It is also called Dol Jatra in Bengal, Phakua in Assam and Dola Jatra in Odisha. People play with coloured powder and water and offer gujiya, mathri and malpua. (Wikipedia, "Holi", read 7 November 2026.)
What it means for you. Holi falls on Monday 22 March 2027 by one panchang, and the central holiday list shows Tuesday 23 March, so check a week ahead. Use the name your buyer uses: in Kolkata or Guwahati, for example, the festival may be known by another name. For how to word a greeting, see our guide to festival greetings.
What to avoid
- For Holi, do not show colour thrown at faces or at women, and do not use wording that wastes water. Keep alcohol and bhang out of the picture and the text.
- For Eid, use the crescent and the star lightly. Avoid religious script, pictures of a mosque and stereotypes.
- Do not claim a colour or a product is skin-safe, natural or herbal unless you can prove it. A skin claim needs proof you can show.
- Make each offer real. A price cut should be a real cut, and a last day should be the real last day. Our Diwali guide lists the rules to read for offers and urgency.
- Ask before you message. Use a list of people who agreed to hear from you. See our WhatsApp marketing guide and email marketing tips.
A made-up example. Say a sweet shop in Delhi sells gujiya boxes for Holi and sewaiyan boxes for Eid. It opens pre-orders three weeks before each festival, with a cut-off date and a spare day in its plan for Eid. Its picture is a plain box on a white background, with a short greeting in the buyer's language. After each festival it sends a thank-you to those who pre-ordered. The numbers it counts are boxes, replies and repeat orders. The example is made up.
What a business can do this week
- List the buyers who keep Holi and the buyers who keep Eid. Ask your sales team.
- Pick one idea from the table and write its one offer and its last date, plus a spare day.
- Write the one-line greeting in the buyer's language, and ask a speaker to read it.
- Set up the count before you start: a sheet with boxes, bookings or replies.
- Keep a plan for a fast change. Our moment marketing guide shows how to join a moment without losing your voice.
A word of care. These are ideas to test, not promises. Your sheet describes your shop in your area, so judge it against your own last year, not another shop's. This guide gives general advice, not religious or legal advice.
